Walk the trails or labyrinth on our 35 acres or those on the neighboring 90 acres. We share the opportunities to wander with our friends to the south for a seamless experience for our guest and theirs. A second larger labyrinth, medicine wheel and wailing wall are also on the property to the south. Overall 125 acres of woods, creek, gardens and places to wander await you. The Fred Meijer White Pine Linear State Park is only a few steps away an is a paved path way of over 90 miles stretching from Grand Rapids to Cadillac. Plan a bike excursion and stay here half way! No hunting or fireworks iallowed on the property.

Our campsite is just a short distance with a private trail directly to the White Pine Trail. Secluded up on the hill with an outhouse, woodshed, fire pit, picnic table and drinking water provided. There's enough room for 3 or 4 tents and plenty of space to spread out for games or to relax by the fire. Running water is available at a pump about 1/4 mile away (near Gabriel's Cabin). Parking onsite. No electricity. Access to 125 acres of walking trails, Labyrinths, Wailing Wall, Cosmic Timeline, Hersey Creek, berry bushes, and the Air & Sun Little Free Library. Please pack out what you pack in and leave no trace. Cars, trucks, and vans are ok, no large RVs (steep driveway, no pull through)

Gabriel's cabin is just a short walk to the Hersey Creek and the hiking and cross country skiing trails on the 125 acres of surrounding property which has been enjoyed as an eco-spiritual retreat center for over 40 years. This cabin sleeps 1-4 people. Gabriel's cabin has electricity, a full kitchen, running cold water, an electric fireplace for heating, three beds (1 king OR 2 twins in the loft and a daybed and loveseat downstairs), an outside fire pit, and an outhouse as well as an indoor camping commode. Outdoor COLD shower and tub for summer! PLEASE NOTE: There is no other shower or bathing facilities at this cabin. As an eco-spiritual retreat center, we encourage our guests to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Walk the trails or labyrinth on our 35 acres or those on the neighboring 90 acres. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING THIS CABIN. Rustic, Outhouse, outdoor (cold) shower and tub. Unique cabin boasts a single bed, a futon couch spacious enough for two, and extra comfy seating on the main floor. Fully equipped kitchen, including a gas stove and oven, a full-size fridge, and running water (cold). Enjoy a dining room table that seats up to six. The loft area offers a full-size bed and a beanbag bed/chair great for reading. Your own fire pit on the creek and private outhouse just up the steps, and for convenience, there's an indoor bucket potty. Base price is for 4 people, additional fees apply for additional guests. Guests booking are required to have proper identification for all guests staying at the listing. If you're not able to be validated reservation will be cancelled. Please no smoking inside the cabin, outside is ok. Wi-fi is available. This cabin has everything you need for time alone, as a couple or with friends. As an Eco-spiritual retreat center, we encourage our guests to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Walk the trails our 35 acres or those on the neighboring 90 acres. The White Pine Linear State Park is steps away an is a paved path of over 90 miles. Ashton Corner Store is just 5 mins away and about a mile and half south. The town of LeRoy is about 5 miles north of us and has a small market along with a few restaurants. We’re nestled about a half mile down a dirt road two track driveway. Parking is available right in front of or next to the cabin in most seasons weather permitting. We trust that as you make the choice to join us for a time of retreat, you recognize that there are inherent risks to being in the wilderness and to retreating in simple, rustic cabins. It is your responsibility to take the necessary precautions and use wise judgment while in the cabins and on the land. In addition, the cabins and land have been tended and held as sacred space for over three decades to serve those seeking healing, wholeness, and love. As you join us for a time of retreat, we hope you will join us in honoring this history by relating to the cabins and land in a thoughtful and respectful way. Please use the “Wilderness Ethic” and pack out what you pack in including all trash. "Leave no trace."

PLEASE READ WHOLE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING. All water comes from the pump in the kitchen. No shower or running water provided. Newly renovated porch for indoor outdoor living. Warm and inviting, Mother Lodge will feel like a home away from home for the whole crew! There's a modular convertible sofa on the first floor and upstairs there are three single beds (one bunk set and one single) as well as a full size bed with a view of the creek. Pump your own cool water directly from the well into the kitchen sink. Sit on the porch while deer drink from the Hersey Creek going by. Walking trails and access to a forest wonderland are right outside the front door. Fire pit and hammock just outside the door. Mother Lodge is a log cabin with screened in porch overlooking the creek, sleeps up to 7 people. Cabin has electricity, an indoor toilet and tub (no running water, buckets are provided for moving water to the rest room), all cold water comes from a hand pump in the kitchen, mini fridge, electric kettle, coffee maker, Breville counter top oven, induction cook top, flat top skillet, and crock pot for cooking. wood-burning stove for heating, and a large screened-in porch with sky view roof.

Keefer Cabin on the Creek
The view and bubbling of the brook in the backyard was charming to say the least. In mid-Oct. the wood stove kept us comfortably warm. The furnished kitchen, updated fridge, running cold water sink, and stovetop made meal time smooth. We appreciated the convenience of having home cooked meals made easily. For fairly avid hikers, we LOVED the trails around the property. We hiked for about 2 hours in our short trip and the dirt morning star path was great. Easy elevation changes, superb views of the colorful fall leaves, few and far between encounters with other hikers, and serene nature as far as the eye can see. Accessing the cabin with our SUV was easy despite a 2 track back. Cell service was decent. WiFi was a little slow and low signal but worked. Lots of blankets, lamps, and warmth to make a cozy retreat. Since we were hoping to have a relaxing weekend with minimal screen time, this was just what we needed. The full bed upstairs was comfortable, not too squeaky, and is nicely placed by windows to oversee the brook. We have a young dog that was able to manage the ladder/small steps up to the loft; however, I’d be very cautious if I had a senior dog. We brought a runner lead for our dog in the back yard which was a great way to keep him leashed with a little freedom to roam. Will happily go back (either to this cabin or try another on the acres). Host was thoughtful, eager to help, and communicative. Friendly and welcoming overall.

Keefer Cabin on the Creek
We stayed in Keefer cabin as a group of old friends and absolutely loved our time there! It was super relaxing - the property is beautiful, and the cabin is charming and intimate. Krista was a great and responsive host :) We will definitely be returning for a visit in the future!

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time at Gabriel’s cabin! It was super cute, loft bed upstairs, a cute kitchenette that was perfect for making breakfast, lunch and dinner! We had such a blast hiking the trials with our two dogs! There is a fire pit that is perfect! The outhouse was the nicest I’ve ever seen! I actually enjoyed the bathtubs/shower outside it was a cool experience and the cold shower was super refreshing! It was a great spot to disconnect from the world and reconnect and just relax! Definitely recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous space, exactly what we needed mid roadtrip. Krista is so responsive & kind, and the whole property is such a place of peace & beauty. Really loved the outdoor clawfoot tub and the loft set-up. We spent some time walking around the property and loved the stone labyrinths, library, and the trails. And found some chicken of the woods mushrooms walking down one of them, which the cabin kitchen had everything we needed to cook up (:

We had a wonderful time staying at Gabriel’s cabin. The cabin was cozy, clean and the perfect size for us and our dogs. We enjoyed the personal touches we found all around the cabin. The outhouse was super clean and very cute - we didnt feel like we were outside. We used the outdoor shower which was invigorating!!! Would recommend as a nice rustic spot for a wonderful relaxing vacation.

This is such a cute campsite, private but easily accessible. Our phones also worked just fine as far as connectivity goes. Our host hooked us up with some water, some firewood and a very comfortable campsite. The outhouse should be featured in a magazine. It's construction along was impressive, but the solar lights, saw dust for scent control, and availability of some bug repellants put it over the top. The place is also nicely lit up with fairy lights.

Krista provided a clean, creative, comfortable cabin. She is a great communicator and provided many extras, including dry firewood and a hammock. Love the bed set-up with option for two twins or a king in the loft. We enjoyed hiking the trails and hanging on the front porch. The outhouse is very clean. It’s a quiet setting, though close enough to 131 that you will hear some background freeway noise. That said, proximity to the freeway is what makes this an easy to access location and for those using the nearby rail trail to go the full distance, this stop is great! Go ahead and book it - you won’t be sorry.

The cabin was nice for me, and I can easily see bringing a family there. The refrigerator is the size typically found in a hotel room, so plan your food accordingly if you are coming with several people. This is a small issue given such a quiet and nice location. I liked having several trails within walking distance, and lots more like Silver Creek and the North Country Trail that are within easy driving distance. My 3-night stay was not enough for me to explore all of the hiking opportunities--hoping to make a return visit!

Just a peaceful and relaxing stay. The pictures don't do this cabin justice. It's so much better than expected. Many personal touches and the outhouse was the best outhouse I've ever seen!! As a rustic camper I've been in plenty and this was bathroom adjacent. I will definitely want to come back as there is so much to do at the cabin and nearby.

Relaxing in the woods.

My husband and I spent 2 nights on their campsite on the hill. Great spot, quiet, pretty, close to trails and not far from other city attractions. Everything was ready for us on arrival. A jug of water with a pump spout. Empty fire pit, rake to clear our area, plenty of firewood for the 2 days. It rained each evening or early morning but we stayed rather dry until the short heavy rain. That just moved us inside our tent a little earlier than planned but all in all it was a great and relaxing trip to the woods, away from home life and kids. Would definitely visit here again and even consider the cabin to bring the kids along.

Second Time, Just As Lovely

This was our second time visiting Gabriel’s cabin and it was just as warm, cozy and inviting as the first. 10/10 would recommend! We love using this as a base camp for our annual salmon fishing trip!

We loved our stay at Gabriel’s Cabin. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed to cook meals and stay warm. The forest is absolutely beautiful, and we wish we could have stayed longer.

Great honeymoon!
Gabriel's Cabin in the Woods
We booked Gabriel's cabin for our honeymoon, and we loved it! So clean, quiet and peaceful! Since it was winter season, we did not see many vegetation, or wildlife around but the land has beautiful trails and it was still so beautiful to hike! Also, the land is close to the Nordhouse dunes (maybe an hour drive) for the visitors who want to go to the beach and swim. Last but not least, Krista was very helpful and was always in touch whenever needed! We definitely recommend Gabriel's cabin, and we are looking to coming back later this year, hopefully in Summer!

The cabin was the perfect size for a cozy, peaceful weekend with my partner. We are used to tent camping so this was a luxurious upgrade for us. The location is also near a ton of trails to hike/bike. We had a great stay

Perfect Peaceful Getaway

We went up to this cabin for a nice stay while we fished the nearby Pere Marquette. It was the perfect place to retreat to after a long day on the water — cozy, quiet and peaceful. I couldn’t reccomend it enough for a peaceful escape.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and we had an amazing time. Its so cozy and peaceful. There are two other cabins you can see from outside so it's not 100% percent secluded but they were enough distance away that it wasn't a concern.

Wonderful place to stay!
The Mother Lodge
The Mother Lodge is a hidden private gem, that welcomes you the second you open the door and makes you feel instantly at home. Sit at the kitchen table or in the beautiful, large screened in porch while you listen and watch the creek flowing right behind it. The fireplace inside is absolutely cozy and very warm. I hope the hand drawn pump by the sink never changes, because it's a part of the spirit of the cabin, and drawing the cold crisp water from the well reminds one of the purpose for everything we do with water and not taking it for granted. The old forest surrounding makes one feel peaceful in it's canopy and if you're inclined take a walk through the marked paths intended as a spiritual walk for self reflection and personal discovery. There's also the 'Rails to Trails' path for walking, biking or snowmobiling that runs along the property with over 90 miles to explore. Absolutely wonderful stay. Couldn't recommend it more and can't wait to return one day! The doughnuts were a special added bonus. Thank you ever so much again for everything ❤️

Very Cozy Cabin for Unplugging
The Mother Lodge
What a wonderful place to stay in the winter or any season. You can hear the water from the creek and the sways of the pine trees from inside the cabin. It was a real winter wonderland outside and the Mother Lodge was an ideal place to be.

We really enjoyed camping on this property. There were beautiful trees, hiking/walking paths, a creek. The space itself is open and mostly flat which is nice when staying in a tent and well maintained. The hill location made it feel private and secluded. The outhouse was nice and seemed to be well maintained. Wood was provided for the fire pit which was a nice touch as well. If your worried about getting up the hill I did so in a Honda Fit so it’s not terribly hard to get up. Overall very happy with our stay!
