We invite you to come stay at our location in the Western Maine mountains. We are located off of the Long Falls Dam Rd in Carrying Place Township, in the heart of Maine's wilderness. Our property offers beautiful mountain views; many nearby hiking trails; nearby swimming, boating, fishing and kayaking at Flagstaff Lake; along with numerous back roads to explore and look for wildlife. You can also find ATV trails about a half hour drive away in the town of Kingfield. Ensure you are guaranteed a spot just outside the Bigelow Preserve and everything it has to offer. We look forward to your visit. Our sites sit behind a locked gate that is monitored 24/7 with a security camera. Also, although we are remote, we do offer Wi-Fi for your convenience. Please take note that our sites are very remote. We may be right off a paved road, but the closest town with a store is a half an hour drive. Also be mindful that this is the Maine wilderness, there are wild animals that frequent our location, along with biting insects such as deer flies and mosquitoes. This truly is a beautiful location, but please be sure to pack accordingly for your stay.

Hilltop campsite with views of Little Bigelow Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, among others. Plenty of grassy area to set up two or three tents. There is a firepit with a grill grate to utilize for cooking meals. Plenty of parking for up to two vehicles and you can drive right up to the site, no having to lug everything in. There are three other sites on the property within close proximity, but far enough away that you will not see each other. There is a communal Porta Potty just a short walk away. There is no potable water on site, but there is a stream nearby and a five gallon bucket available at your site for water collection. If you are bringing a trailer with you; boat, ATV, etc. please be sure to add the 'Trailer Parking' rental to your stay. It is free, but ensures we provide you with instructions on where to park your trailer (this site may accommodate some smaller trailers), please reach with any questions. Please note: this site is on the edge of a gravel pit wall; be mindful of pets and children staying away from the edge. This is an active pit, and there is a possibility someone could be there working during weekdays (although chances are slim). You will not encounter anyone working in the gravel pit on the weekends.

Nestled in the woods, The Hideaway provides privacy and quiet, with the luxury of driving right up to your site. There is a firepit with a grill grate to utilize for cooking meals. There are three other sites on the property within close proximity, but far enough away that you will not see each other. There is a communal porta potty just a short walk away. There is no potable water on site, but there is a stream nearby and a five gallon bucket available at your site for water collection. There is parking at the site, but not very much room to maneuver. If you are bringing a trailer with you; boat, ATV, etc. please be sure to add the 'Trailer Parking' rental to your stay. It is free, but ensures we provide you with instructions on where to park your trailer (there is no room to maneuver a trailer at this site). Please note this is within close proximity to an active gravel pit. Although this site is not within view of the gravel pit, equipment used in the pit may be heard on weekday trips (although chances are slim). No one will be working in the gravel pit on the weekends.

The Clearing is a wide open sunny area, with quick access to the site with your RV. There is plenty of room to maneuver and park your RV, with a mixture of both gravel and grassy areas. This site offers two fire pits to choose from and utilize, both with a cooking grate. There is plenty of parking and space at this site. If hosting a group, there is room for up to three RV's (you can add additional RV's under the 'Extras'). This site receives plenty of sun throughout the day if you are utilizing solar panels, but generators are allowed as well. There are three other sites on the property within close proximity, but far enough away that you will not see each other. There is no potable water on site, but there is a stream nearby and a five gallon bucket available at your site for water collection. We also have a wastewater tank on site, that is available to dump your RV waste, for an additional fee that can be purchased under 'Extras'. Please note that this site is off the road that goes down into a small gravel pit. The pit is not used very often and will never be used during the weekend.

The Clearing

If you are looking for a place to camp that is remote, quiet, well maintained and has some of the most picturesque views from your campsite and beyond, look no further than Orange Gate Sites! They offer anything that you are looking for in outdoor accommodations. From a spacious RV site, (or in our case, a full size school bus) to a tent site for the more adventurous, to a cozy cabin with many amenities to make your stay more comfortable. Orange Gate Sites is clean, has ready to burn firewood, sturdy fire pits that you can even cook your meals on, and clean outdoor toilets. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and want to thank our hosts for a fabulous weekend! Alpha Sr. and Laurie Williams (parents of the hosts)

Amazing place!! Don't miss out!!

The View

If you haven't been here you are all missing out!! This is one of the BEST camp sites for tenting i have been to. Danyl and Alpha are absolutely WONDERFUL hosts too!! If you want privacy and have the real authentic feel of camping I would suggest this place! Depending on where you book on site, we had the View and could see not only Sugarloaf mountain but, the stars at night were absolutely breathtaking. The sky was so open with the landscape of mountains in the background. The camp has a series of little outlets to actually spread your stuff out so its doesnt feel cramped. The porta potty is super clean and the town is a half hour for all your needs! My partner and I will definitely be coming back as regulars and this is now one of my favorite places to camp! Book now! The Hideaway

This hipcamp was perfect for our overnight stay before climbing Little Bigelow the next day (the trailhead was only 4 minutes from our campsite!). Great communication, and easy to find and check in. The only drawback is that there wasn't a large flat surface to pitch our tent, so we ended up on sloping ground, which wasn't ideal. Other than that, highly recommend!

The View

100% would recommend! The sites are very private, the location is beautiful, the view from “The View” is breathtaking! The owners have done a great job making you feel like you’re taken care of without being in your face, from the solar string lights on the path to the bathroom to the binder full of maps and things to do in the region, they really thought of everything. If you like disbursed, private, rural camping this is the place!

A view with privacy

The View

The hosts Alpha & Danyl were so helpful even before I booked the site. I was experiencing difficulties with the app and they walked me through. The site "The view" is aptly named. The site worked well for my 4x8 trailer with roof top tent and 10x10 ez-up screen room, leaving plenty of room remaining. The fire pit had an adjustable grilling grate that could be swung out of the way. The porta potty was clean and the perfect distance from the site. One bundle of wood and a bag of kindling provided with site and more available for purchase, as well as fire starters. Verizon phone had 3 bars of service. My favorite part aside from the view was the privacy, didn't see or hear another person all night. Will definitely stay here again when I am in the area.
