Surrounded by pines, birdsong, and fresh air, you’ll enjoy the feeling of being far from the crowds - while still being minutes from groceries, coffee, and lobster rolls! — The Campsite A handful of tent and hammock spaces tucked away for privacy Separate car parking, a short walk to wherever you'd like to set up (car campers welcome in parking area, see map) Shared common area with firepit, firewood, cookware, dish station & picnic table Rustic open-air toilet with a view of the trees — Extras to Rent (price per night) $5 tent & sleeping pad for 1 $10 tent & pads for 2 $5 wool blanket $10 sleeping bag Message before/after booking for availability! — Eco-Friendly Stay Chickadee Hollow is part of the land I live on and love! It's where I grow my food and do my best to make a positive impact on our planet. To keep this land healthy for everyone (including the chickadees), I kindly ask guests to use only biodegradable soap on the property (and keep it free of other chemicals). I provide a bottle of Dr. Bronner’s for bodies/dishes so you don’t need to bring your own. — What to Expect Rural setting with birdsong in the morning and stargazing at night Rustic camping (no hookups or showers) Quiet tenting space separate from vehicles You may share the space with a small number of friendly campers, or have the place to yourself You might hear the neighbors but not see them Honestly, not very buggy! A small fire keeps any bugs at bay Woodland trails, including one to a small stream for collecting dish water (BYO potable water) Night sounds of birds, crickets, owls, porcupines, maybe coyotes if you're lucky! Choose a camping space you like upon your arrival! Sunny or shady, private or communal, in the trees or under the stars, on grass or on a bed of soft pine needles. There are a couple of sweet little groves for hammocks too. All possible sites are fairly close to the communal area. Parking is separate from the tent camping spaces, and is just a short walk. You may of course camp in your vehicle in the parking area.

Awesome site, awesome host, will definitely return. Easy to find, remote yet close to a great downtown with nice restaurants and authentic culture.

Chickadee Hollow: Dispersed Camping
This stop was perfect! Alice did a great job of giving her guests privacy on their campsite and also a community feel around the fire. She stopped by and was so kind and recommended great spots for photography. Myself and the other guests there agreed it was our favorite Hipcamp spot yet. Thank you for everything!

Nice camping setup, with a dishwashing station, fire ring, picnic bench with umbrella, and a cart to wheel in bags from the parking lot. All to share among the several campsites. Host also has camping equipment to rent at a good rate (tents, sleeping bags), which allayed concerns in case anything failed.

Alice’s land was very beautiful and well kept! We could tell that she works very hard to maintain it. They community campfire are was such a treat. She was very communicative, accommodating, and helped us select the best site for a group of our size! Thank you Alice!

I loved my stay at Chickadee Hollow. I stayed here as a solo traveller for two nights in October to visit Acadia National Park during fall. Alice is so lovely and a wonderful host. She was super responsive and a great communicator prior to booking and during my stay. Alice was super welcoming and helped me with a few special requests as I didn't have all the gear I needed. The site itself is lovely and well set-up, and you can tell Alice is putting in the time to make it a super enjoyable stay for all her guests. She was really inclusive making sure I had met others staying there and also invited me to activities in town. It is only about a 5-10 minute drive to Ellsworth which has everything you need - shops, restaurants, pubs, fuel etc. It's about 40-50 minutes drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park so it was a great place to base myself to visit these. There is so much to see and do in the area. I highly recommend hiking the main trails in Acadia, Jordan Pond and Schoodic Peninsula, visiting Ellsworth, Bar Harbor and Bass Harbor - these are popular, and for good reason, but there is so much else to explore! We loved our night at Alice’s! The site was really well organized and accommodating for multiple parties. There was a picnic table set up and a sink for washing dishes. Me, my partner, and our pup were able to grab a spot that was slightly hidden from the communal area so we had a little extra privacy. We had a tent but our space would’ve been perfect for a hammock too! The site is conveniently located pretty close to downtown Ellsworth and only about 30 minutes to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center at Acadia. We only stayed one night but would definitely come back!

Loved this campsite! I was lucky enough to enjoy the site alone but it’s definitely a great space to share with others. Host was super kind and very responsive if I needed anything, but with the site just a quick drive to Acadia and an even quicker drive to town, I had everything I needed nearby. If your looking for something a bit low tech but comfortable this is a fantastic site.

I loved camping here! Alice was beyond awesome, I booked last minute she still came and met me and toured me around everything even though it was 9 pm. My headlamp was dead and I didn’t have the right cable, so she lent me her flashlight, went and found a cable for me and lent me that & a charging block for the night! I had the spot all to myself and the stars were breath taking. I slept so well & in the morning went over for a tour of her tiny home and got to learn all about her process. The site has a beautiful fire pit area, pots & pans to use & water and soap for dishes, and an outhouse. 10/10 would recommend camping here! Thank you for everything Alice 😊
