You may also choose rental of our own RV for use on site and we also offer in our home a comfortable bedroom with a private bath. Any rental includes one tent site if needed, at no charge. We have options for you. Our location has festivals, Cajun Bands and dancing, Cajun food, walkng trails, fishing, boating, kayaking, swamp tours, bird watching, hunting, vintage, antique and arts and crafts stores, joie de vivre and laissez les bons temps rouler. WELCOME TO BUTTE LA ROSE, THE HEART OF THE ATCHAFALAYA BASIN AND THE HEART OF ACADIANA: In the early 1930s when the Army Corps of Engineers carved two long levees right through the Atchafalaya River Basin, what had once been a widely sprawling river system prone to seasonal flooding became a fifteen-mile-wide "spillway" contained between those two earthen walls. The water level in the Basin rose by several feet, permanently flooding many areas, and people who had made their homes there eventually moved to communities on the dry, western side of the levee--Henderson, Catahoula, Bayou Benoit and beyond--leaving no trace of the old settlements behind. Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. No other place can claim to be the heart of Atchafalaya as credibly as Butte La Rose can. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. So many waterways surround Butte La Rose--Butte La Rose Canal, Henderson Lake, Lake Begneaux, Lake Pelba--it's as close to an island as you can get without actually being an island. We are only 3 miles from interstate 10 but we are a small remote camping village. Many hummingbirds visit here every year. They arrive in March and leave in Sept. They arrive approximately mid March and leave mid October. Our Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival and Lafayette's Festival International, Festival Acadian are famous and near by. Enjoy great food like boudin, cracklings or crawfish at festivals or local restaurants. The Atchafalaya Basin is the nations largest river swamp containing almost one million acres of America's most significant bottom land hardwood swamps, bayous and backwater lakes. Hello Hipcampers! Welcome to Cajun country. This option is for you to book our RV that is parked onsite at Kickin it in the Butte. It is a very small RV but very new with a comfortable full size bed. The maximum capacity for the RV is 3 persons. Two small bunks are available that are best suited for children allthough I have seen adults use them. Please no pets or smoking in our RV. Our location has festivals, Cajun Bands and dancing, Cajun food, walkng trails, fishing, boating, kayaking, swamp tours, bird watching, hunting, vintage, antique and arts and crafts stores, joie de vivre and laissez les bons temps rouler. Also available is full service RV hook ups and an additional hook up spot for a buddy. In our home we rent one guest room with a private bath too. With any rental we allow one tent site at no extra charge. Here you will get the rest and peace and quiet you may need or our location can provide all the fun that you can handle. Room with Private Bath at the Butte

Let me preface this by saying I sent detailed messages before booking explaining my need to reorganize my truck, get dishes & some laundry done. 1st impression: wife: She openly admits to forgetting that folks are coming & feeling overwhelmed + forced to open the property yet in next breath saying she wants a bigger property so she can make more $$. Husband: (direct quote) "I didn't retire to become a glorified housekeeper". He also forgets to flush the toilet of the guests 'private' bathroom. Earlier this month I got my 14 ft box truck insulated & had to repack the truck in a hurry cuz of limited time w/contractor. Things were an organized chaos. I opened my back door to: Her: ew your truck is dirty Me: yes I'm here to get it organized & set-up. Her: but garbage?!?! Me: the mason jars? Dishwasher. That pile of clothes? Washer dryer. Her: but it's crowded Me: it's organized chaos Her: gross, you sleep in filth? Me: excuse me?! I'm here to do dishes, clothes, & cedar line the walls. You're rude She tells me it's tacky to empty my lumber in driveway. I tell her it's going under truck. She says I'm disgusting... She finally leaves, comes back tells me to repark... After I'm reparked, I grab things for the fridge then walk inside to put the food away. She's on phone w/ hubby re me calling her rude & I'm 'too big' for driveway...a gross person... When I gave her 1/2 cedar log I had to quell their 'tude things went slightly better, ended told to wash outside truck & vacuum
