This campsite had a lot of great qualities, and we could tell the property has a lot of potential. However, our experience did not match the expectations set by the listing, and we ultimately chose not to stay overnight.
One of the biggest issues was the bathroom situation. The listing gave us the impression that there would be operable restroom facilities available, but that was not the case when we arrived. There was no running water in the bathrooms. The porta potty had an entire molded toilet paper roll. We were instead advised to go inside the host’s house to use the bathroom, which we were not comfortable doing, especially since the hosts were out of town, something we were not aware of ahead of time.
We had booked the Hammock Alley area, but it was not set up for use when we arrived. Additionally, without the hosts present, we did not feel comfortable interacting with or visiting the farm animals as we had hoped.
If you operate a rental property like this, it’s important to be checking it regularly and staying aware of when guests are arriving. If you know the property will not be ready or accurately set up for guests, it would be better to deny the booking ahead of time rather than have guests arrive to unexpected conditions.
