I’ve been camping at the Rockcastle Riverside Campground since 2018. Every year they make improvements to the property and every year their hospitality is on point. All the staff we interact with are extremely welcoming no matter if we are camping for fun or there for a music festival. Another thing you can count on are clean bathrooms and a hot shower up bedside the stage. They can even help you coordinate a river paddle or recommend a local business to shop or eat.

Everything was just how it should be, while visiting for a festival already planning my next visit...yall were awesome to hang with, thanks again for the family vibe.

This place was okay for a two night stay but we won’t be coming back. It appeared that the camp host live on the property above the shower/bathroom/ camp store. Pros: Site was big They host entertainment and activities Access to river ( would need to do a bit of walking to it but it’s there) Not busy (had maybe 6 campers/tents total near us) Water pressure was great in the shower Cons: Grass was so high and unkept No dumpster- had to pack trash back home with us Owners dogs running unleashed/ non fenced on property Not enough lighting at night Camp store was very run down/unkept and empty/musty smell. There was only one shower and toilet near the RV sites - also very unkept with mold and mildew, also had several bottles of shampoo and conditioner/ shaving cream laying in the shower. Which shower needs a good cleaning as well. Fire pits need maintenance ** Also should mention that there was ALOT of Marijuana odor constantly in the bathroom/ bathhouse area and around the campstore. As traveling with someone who has severe allergies/ smell sensitivity this was an issue**

Nice ppl, nice campground and restrooms. Right along the river which unfortunately was low, but did get to kayak/ fish a little. My only thing was hearing semis on the highway all night, even though it is 3 miles from the bridge. Would recommend though

I was met by the person who leased the area and she was immediately trying to be intimidating and told us we needed to give her money to stay at the campsite despite having already paid for the camper site. I had no intentions of attending a festival. I booked on the 13th and missed a message on the 15th that mentioned a festival. She said “I normally charge people 90 so charging you each 20 is kind of me” and we looked at her and thought… we aren’t attending the festival, and we didn’t know it was happening. This app showed only a couple camper spots taken up when I booked. She was extremely judgmental despite running an “educational” and “family friendly” event. My mother had mentioned we were there to celebrate a bachelor party and she said “oh then I can only imagine. This is family friendly and it is probably a good idea for you to leave”. She also mentioned several times how she needed to make money and the space we reserved should be for someone attending the festival. Her reconciliation for being rude and judgmental to my 8 friends was to compensate us to leave. She literally paid us to leave the premises. Mind you, my friends carried the appearance of group of guys who were ready to watch football. That lady looked at us and immediately judged, making sure we knew that they had security on site. I’m glad to have left and found somewhere on short notice, though I did have to pay the driver more for the camper. It was an awful experience; but holly bay saved it.

No Stress Camping

Super relaxed atmosphere with access to creek for floating, fishing, and fun! We stayed in primitive camping - there we sited with firerings and access to 4 bathrooms with running water and two outdoor showers. Great spot to camp with dogs. We will be back!

Overall the scenery was nice. The grass was a little high at the campsite, the communication with the host/owners was not there. No dumpsters to dump trash after leaving. There were sites further down from us with blow up dolls hanging up…. Not kid/family friendly whatsoever. Bath houses were not maintained, they were very dark and outdated. There was just overall an uneasy feeling there and everything just seemed messy. We had fun with the friends we went with but we can say for sure neither of us will be back there. The cost was overpriced for what you got and kayaks were $35 a person and we had to put the kayaks in the water ourselves and haul them down an embankment.

Nice sites, but trees need another 5 years to provide adequate shade. Need several large trash bins along the access road to sites at least when sponsoring a music festival, or any festival over a period of two days or more.

Everything was great! A beautiful spot nicely spaced campsites. The music venue was neat and tho there was nobody scheduled to play on stage there were some people nearby who were jamming. The space is big enough that you can go to the far side if you don't want to hear the music. I didn't mind they were pretty good. Chill atmosphere and beautiful views.

Beautiful, Secluded, Loud Music?

It was easy, off grid enough to feel safe and secluded. Not a ton of people, the only reason I selected "mixed feelings" is because our second night. I guess we weren't aware that the primitive side of camping had "no quiet hours". So when we arrived back late (intentionally very quietly), we were very surprised to hear house music being violently played from the sound stage. When I called to politely ask what was going on, the woman said something would be said but I woke at about 4:30 AM to continue hearing the same blaring music. Made that night rough and the following night seemed to be a bit sour feeling because of it. Still awesome for the price and experience.
