Lazy 6-T Ranch

Although the general area is lovely, the actual camping site sits between a trucking road and a well-used train track. It’s quite noisy and too open to passers by (who often honk for some reason as well). There is poor river access points which make enjoying the water and fishing difficult. The outhouse has a lock on the outside but not on the inside which I guess is fine if only your group is camping but would be inappropriate should there be multiple groups on the same property. In addition to no lock, the inside of the outhouse had trash and leaves on the floor and weeds blocking full door closure. I use Hipcamp occasionally and have always been very pleased with the properties but after scouting the area near this property, I would use the National Forest Land near the Montpelier Reservoir or Bear Lake State Park Campgrounds instead. Overall the price was far too high for this particular experience.

We had a great time, the place is clean. The table and the fire pit were very useful thanks! 🙌🏽 I would recommend having a sign outside at the entrance because it was hard to find it. The train during the night it’s very loud :/

Was a fantastic spot for stopping during our travels! Private and beautiful, we had the place to ourselves. I had no trouble finding the gate with the host’s directions, they even had it opened for us with a small sign welcoming us.

Our family had lots of fun tent camping at this site. We really enjoyed paddle boarding on the river! The camp site was easy to find and the bundles of pre ordered firewood was very convenient. There is a noisy highway and train nearby and although that didn’t bother us, I understand how that could be bothersome to others. The location is lacking in shade so bring a big umbrella. We loved our stay and plan on staying again in the future!

The area is beautiful, and camping right next to the river was really nice. The campsites are far enough apart that you definitely have privacy. We camped there for two nights and had a clear, beautiful night both nights. The stargazing was absolutely amazing!! The only negative about this Hipcamp is the noise. The nearby highway and train tracks create a bit of disruption, but other than that, it's a great place to camp!

It was a very beautiful site, you can see plenty of stars at night and it was pretty secluded while also being close to town. The entrance was challenging to find at first but once you find it the first time after it's easy. The only thing I think could be improved is the different sites being marked with some type of post. Would definitely stay here again!

Bobi's land was just as pictured. Sites were spread out, so we felt like we had plenty of space and privacy. We loved paddling on the river and watching the stars at night. The bathroom was very clean. Other reviewers mentioned lack of shade, which is true, but there's enough to huddle under if you don't bring your own awning. There are trains that come through and a road, but it didn't disrupt our sleep or bother us at all.

Beautiful and Quiet Country Field

Beautiful and quiet (aside from the frogs, which were very cool to hear!). We enjoyed our stay in this country field. We had space to spread out, and even more space to roam! We put up hammocks, ran, played, flew kites, and felt perfectly safe letting the kids explore. Other reviewers have mentioned manure and goose poop. We found any manure to be dry and no problem at all. We would definitely stay here again!

Not well signed, scimpy directions but a pretty field by the Bear River. Included were semi trucks passing all night accompanied by 4 freight trains throughput the night. Loud!!!! Bring your bug spray, misquotes come out at dusk.

Beautiful, secluded area nestled into the hillside. Enjoyed the campfire, the trains passing in the distance, the soft mooing of the cows across the way, and the amazing star gazing at night. May be difficult to access with a standard sedan (we had a Jeep). Bring warm clothes/blankets for the chilly nights and enjoy the peacefulness!

Nice open field in the middle nowhere and great value for a traveling overnight stop. Nice and dark. There a few trains during the night, put a pair of ear plugs fixed that easy.

This was a great site! Very private/secluded. The pond was a nice feature for the landscape. The pump for it makes sounds that might startle you on occasion at night. 😄 It was a lovely stay and will definitely book again in the future.

In my opinion, the site was a bit overpriced for what it was, but the bathroom and fire pit were nice! I wish there had been better instructions on how to get there - I had a hard time finding it and didn’t have service to call the host. To get to the sites, you have to pass the address it gives you and turn after the end of the highway railing!

It was as advertised. Inside the cabin was clean. It did, however, lack any sense of welcoming. I knew it was primitive camping and that is what we wanted, but a nice touch would be to mow a path thru the weeds in the yard surrounding the cabin so guests can get to it, the table, fire pit and outhouse without fighting thru multiple types of thorny, 4-5 ft tall brambles and burs, and pick up the dog crap all around the picnic table area from the previous guests for the next guest so I didn't have to. The 2nd night when we returned from sightseeing the hosts were putting a new gate in and blocking the road. We pulled in and waited patiently for quiet some time and was completely ignored until my husband got out to talk to them and even helped move the gate. The guy driving the tractor acted really put out that we bothered them. I guess if the primitive conditions were reflected in the price it would be OK, but the price was comparable to cabins in nice developed parks so maybe a little more care to making guests feel welcome would go a long way. It wasn't a bad stay, just meh.

Peace and Quiet in SE Idaho

This A-frame was pretty much what we had expected: small with just two twin beds. With e tight room at the entry area for our gear and some appreciated “shelves” for lanterns, toothbrush, etc. It was pretty wonderful to sit on the small porch and read, enjoying the view. We were only inside the A-frame to sleep— we spent our time outdoors, hiking UP and UP to get to the old wagon ruts. Hip Camps are THE BEST — if you really want to get away from the madding crowds at campgrounds. The very best Hip Camps can figure out a way to provide you with two 5-gallon jugs of drinkable / potable water. We are longtime camper types — so we can figure out how to bring in and conserve our own water…. But hip camp hosts would be wise to provide a couple of jugs of water if they want to attract those who are not experienced camper types. At another recent hip camp in Maine, the property owner left jugs of water at a convenient location for us &,we put empty jugs there and picked up re-filled jugs. It was GREATLY appreciated!

We were grateful for this hipcamp during a lengthy road trip. It is as advertised, by the river and a pasture. The biggest challenge is getting to the entrance- hard,if not impossible, to find in the dark - so be sure to go by daylight. We were lucky that there were other campers who came to the entrance with flashlights and that our fellow campers got there early and caught us about to drive by and reached is by walkie talkie. Great stop over spot!

Booked this for my fiancés birthday and it was the absolute best!!! Super secluded a lot of space dogs loved it and very quiet!!! Hardly any people so you can really just enjoy your company with no one else around! Starts looked beautiful 10/10 recommend :)

Place to make fun memories

We had a great experience camping at the Ranch. It's a great location and plenty of room to spread out. Our group of 11 had a fun game of baseball and spent a day at Bear Lake. The outhouse is very clean but ran out of toilet paper. Bring your own. The mosquitoes were vicious the first day! They calmed down the 2nd and 3rd day but were still out. We killed several in our trailers and all of us had bites. This is a cow pasture so naturally there are cow pies. Not a problem unless someone steps in one, which happened. We made some great memories but we're on the fence if we will camp here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the A-Frame Cabin! The location is super secluded and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The place is super simple, no frills, and great to get away. Definitely would recommend a 4WD vehicle to get up the road.
