A secluded, mountaintop hideaway for adventure and renewal (AWD/4WD required) Perched high above Garden Valley, The Domestead is a one-of-a-kind geodesic dome built into the cliffs of Idaho’s wild forestland. Surrounded by 87 private acres of pine trees, granite outcrops, and native wildlife, this secluded mountaintop hideaway rewards the adventurous couple with an experience of total privacy, incredible views, and stillness that invites reflection, self-discovery and connection. Accessible only by those willing to journey up a long, steep mountain road, The Domestead is a place that changes with the seasons and offers something different each time you visit. Whether you're winding up the forested road in summer or navigating snow-packed trails in winter, getting here is part of what makes the experience so special. The property borders a 500-acre elk preserve and backs up to miles of untouched BLM and Forest Service land. It’s wild, peaceful, and full of life—everything we hoped it would be when we first walked it. Inside, the space is warm, quiet, and intentionally built. Radiant heated floors, a mini-split for both heat and AC, reliable Starlink internet, and an off-grid solar and battery system all come together to make the dome comfortable no matter the season. The well water goes through a complex filtration setup we invested in to make sure it's clean, crisp, and safe to drink — something we really care about. Everything here was chosen with intention. It's not fancy, but it's thoughtful. It's not for everyone, but it might be just right for you.

Update- We are currently working around the property, but if there’s a date that’s showing blocked, don’t hesitate to reach out and inquire about opening it up. A few years ago my wife and I found this slice of forested paradise—83 acres of raw, unrestricted land tucked away in Garden Valley. The property borders a 500-acre elk preserve and backs up to miles of untouched BLM and Forest Service land. It’s wild, peaceful, and full of life—everything we hoped it would be when we first walked it. We still live in Boise, where we run a busy business, but Paul spends a good amount of time up here maintaining the property and running our Airbnb cabin at the base of the mountain. There’s always something to do—clearing downed trees, improving the road, maintaining trails, and keeping everything safe and accessible. It's hard work, but there’s nothing better than putting in the effort on land that gives so much back. We’re not polished resort hosts—we’re just a couple who fell in love with this mountain and wanted to share it with others who value nature, solitude, and a slower pace. Whether you're hiking, stargazing, exploring, or simply unwinding, we hope this land offers you the same sense of peace and perspective it gives us. Thanks for stopping by—we’d love to host you.

A Truly Magical Escape at Shangri-La Yurt ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking for a peaceful retreat in the mountains, look no further than Shangri-La. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the breathtaking views and the natural beauty surrounding the yurt. The journey there was easy, and the hosts made sure I had clear directions—nothing left to chance, just smooth sailing all the way. The yurt itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed. I loved the large window that brought the outside in—nothing beats waking up to that view! The air flow was perfect, keeping the yurt cool and comfortable, even in warmer weather. There were thoughtful touches everywhere: a swing bench to relax on, outdoor seating, and even a cozy rug where I could lounge and soak in the mountain air. The hosts were the highlight—kind, joyful, and always ready to offer helpful advice or just chat. Their warmth made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. With 95 acres of land to explore, there’s no shortage of quiet corners to discover. Plus, the addition of a private toilet was a nice touch for extra convenience. Whether you're looking for a peaceful solo getaway, a romantic retreat, or a fun escape with friends, Shangri-La exceeds all expectations. I couldn’t recommend it more—it’s the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and nature. Will definitely be back!
