Step inside to find walls of natural wood and local lava rock, a soft earthen floor underfoot, and a stunning round reciprocal roof that invites the light and sky to dance above you. The round wooden doors and semi-open-air layout allow the fresh island breeze to flow through, bringing in the scents and songs of the land. Enjoy the comfort of a queen bed with soft bedding, ease of an attached private kitchen and your own serene bathhouse just a few steps away—complete with a shower and peaceful privacy. Whether you’re here to rest, write, reconnect, or simply be, the Chrysalis Earth Nest offers a sacred and grounding space to land. Let the earth hold you. Let the island breathe with you. Enjoy! Location: The site says we are in Leilani Estates, but actually we are located south of there, only 3 minutes from the coast, only 5 min to a black sand beach, only 15-20 min to natural geothermally heated hot ponds you can soak in, and approximately 50 min drive to Volcano, Pele's home. (You will happily receive the actual address once you book! ) Our space is best for nature lovers, with several half open walls, as you will feel the elements and be serenaded by the frogs at night! Our kitchen is very simple. and our bathhouse has a flush toilet, and warm shower. We have electricity and lighting indoors, but there are no streetlights, because our neighborhood values stargazing, which is amazing here! A few last details: We will provide bath towels and there is soap in the shower for your use, as well. Cell service- AT andT and Cricket cell service works best in our area. The floor is earthen, so we have rugs, and clean it regularly, but it will appear rustic. We do have a mosquito net over the bed, for folks who would like to use it. Two of the walls of the Earth Nest are half walls, so you will feel the breeze and experience the elements. You will hear the frogs at night and birds in the morning. This is a place for nature lovers only : ) We are located in a neighborhood, so even though the Earth Nest is surrounded by tropical beauty, you may hear the sounds of children playing nearby or possibly dogs in the neighborhood (there are no dogs living on our property). Our community values stargazing (which is amazing here!) so there are no streetlights in our neighborhood, Let the Earth Nest be your home & personal retreat as you enjoy the beauty of the island!

Hawaii Earth Nest

The most beautiful little cottage I’ve ever seen in my life. I felt like a fairy!! I was a little off-put by the lack of screening, but there were no issues and the open air feel was amazing. The bathroom was just steps away and was very clean and comfortable. The door handles were also so unique and beautiful

Hawaii Earth Nest

The Earth Nest was magical. If you love nature, you should definitely stay here — many of the walls are completely open, which makes you feel like you’re outside while still in the comfort of a covered lodging. It was super easy to find, and the bathroom was steps away from the main cottage. There was a mosquito net over the bed, and the bed itself was unbelievably comfy. The bathroom was well-maintained and clean, and the shower had hot water, which was so nice. There was a full kitchen, which we didn’t end up using as we were just there for a night but would be super nice if you wanted to cook (and having a fridge was great). The area was quiet and beautiful. My one issue was that we felt a little nervous about the walls being completely open without any screens or anything as it didn’t feel completely safe, but we had no actual issues and it seems like a pretty secure site otherwise so it wasn’t too much of a problematic. This place really felt like something out of a fairy tale, I would definitely recommend.

Magical Hobbit Hut getaway

We loved staying here! It had all the bare necessities and such a beautiful space. The perfect getaway stay-cation. The only downsides: the walls aren’t screened it so mosquitos were very present! More candles would help. Also, make sure to bring your own spices and things for cooking. The pots, pans, plates and utensils were all provided but definitely bring oil, spices and any extras you’d want :)

A sweet remote retreat

Hawaii Earth Nest

We loved the beautiful environment, star gazing, chirping tree frogs and birds. We even loved the little friendly cat who came to visit us who we nicknamed peanutbrittle. The location, is nearby 3 black sand beaches. It would have been helpful to have a more detailed written instructions on finding the location, as there isn't cell phone reception. I did screenshot those available, but they didn't quite get us home. We arrived late at night, having jetted up to see the volcano erupt. It was hard to see the address number sign, which was not illuminated when we arrived. It's also easy to miss the entrance, camouflaged with grass and palm leaves as it is. The bed was comfortable, and we appreciated the mosquito netting and citronella candles. There is a cafe with Internet very near by, right out of the house, right, and then left onto the main coastal road.
