Tucked away on 140 acres of quiet woods and open skies, FoxPen is a place built on dreams, hard work, and a love for the land. For over 24 years, Doyle Watson—along with his wife Lee, two daughters, local friends from Hortense, and a whole lot of heart—has shaped this hidden haven into a space where people can slow down, unplug, and reconnect with what matters most. What began as a single tiny cabin in 1999 has grown into five hand-built cabins, each crafted from local and reclaimed materials and brimming with rustic character. One cabin, the Briar Patch, was once an old tobacco barn and still holds its original door as a proud piece of history. Every cabin, every trail, and every campfire circle has a story—and if you’re lucky, you might hear a few from Doyle himself as you walk the land, sit beneath the stars, or join him on a Tractor Trailer Ride. Before becoming the peaceful retreat center it is today, FoxPen was once a fox-hunting preserve—hence the name. When the Watson family purchased the property, they kept the name but relocated the foxes, allowing the land’s natural wildlife to thrive. At FoxPen, life moves slower. Nature leads the way. And there’s not much to do but play, relax, and savor the simple, timeless things that never go out of style. Managing the rentals is the youngest daughter, Evan—that’s me! Calling all nature lovers! This cabin is 1 of 5 nestled on 140 acres in Southeast Georgia, on a property called FoxPen. Uniquely made, it is 2 18-wheeler containers combined together - and yet, it still has the wood cabin feel. It has 2 bedrooms, each with a private bath. One has a queen bed and the other a bunk with a full-size mattress on the bottom. There is an indoor and outdoor fireplace, along with ample front porch seating. Cell service is minimal, but we do have WIFI in all the cabins. The space You will enjoy the ample space to roam, with nature trails and ponds for swimming or fishing. It's a peaceful escape where life slows down and nature thrives so you can relax, play, and reconnect. If you are traveling with a group, look to the other FoxPen accommodations so that you all can unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of life together. Guest access Guests have access to the full 140 acres of property, but not the other 4 cabins, unless your group is renting them. Other things to note This is a family-run venture, and the accommodations are very simple within a town that does not have many resources close at hand. Briar Patch - FoxPen

Cabin · Sleeps 3

Calling all nature lovers! This small cabin is 1 of 5 nestled on 140 acres in Southeast Georgia, on a property called FoxPen, tucked in the middle of nowhere. Lovingly referred to as "Briar Patch", it is a refurbished tobacco barn, and has been added onto over the years. With 1 bunk bed, twin on top and full on the bottom, it can sleep 2 adults and a small child. There is a private bathroom and a full kitchen, as well as a TV. Look to our other cabins to stay out here with the whole crew! The space You will find nature trails, ponds, fire pits, and plenty of outdoor space. It's a peaceful escape where life slows down and nature thrives so you can relax, play, and reconnect. Guest access Guests will have access to the full 140 acres. They will not have access to the other 4 cabins, unless rented out. Other things to note This is a family-run venture, and the accommodations are very simple within a town that does not have many resources close at hand. Bunk House - FoxPen

This communal cabin is known as "Bunk House". It was renovated in July 2025. It now has 2 private bedrooms that share a private bath, each with 2 twin beds. There are 3 twin bunk beds in the open communal space. The cabin sleeps 10 total. The open kitchen works great for large groups. In addition to the private bathroom, there is also another full bathroom and a connecting outdoor shower. There is WIFI. Cell service is minimal, and no TV. The space Calling all nature lovers! Other things to note This is a unique experience, and difficult to capture the full beauty on a screen. We have hosted multiple family reunions and wellness retreats over the years, so we would love the opportunity to open this property to your family as well. Four of these cabins are available to rent individually or all together, comfortably sleeping up to 20 guests. There’s also ample space for up to 10 tents for those guests who wish to camp under the stars.
