🏕️ Tent 3 – Primitive Site Tent 3 is a peaceful wooded walk-in site located near the center of the property—close to the action but still surrounded by trees and nature. It’s perfect for campers who enjoy a bit of privacy while remaining within easy walking distance of the main loop and washhouse. This site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and trash can. Firewood is available for purchase on-site (cutting live vegetation is strictly prohibited). 🚶‍♀️ Access: This is a walk-in campsite located about 100 yards from the main trail. You’ll park at the main trailhead and walk in from there. A wagon is provided to help transport your gear to and from the site. 💧 Facilities: There is no running water or electricity at this site. A Porta Potty is located within the campground area for convenience, and the main washhouse—with coin-operated washer and dryer and a full bathroom with shower—is a short walk away. 📶 Connectivity: Wi-Fi is not available at this site, and cell service may be limited depending on your carrier. 🐾 Pets: Pets are welcome! Please keep them leashed, under control, and clean up after them. 🚶‍♂️ Trails: You’ll have easy access to our maintained half-mile hiking loop and additional trails throughout the gated property—perfect for morning walks or evening strolls. ⸻ 🚪 Guest Access Guests have access to: • Tent 3 campsite area • Fire ring, picnic table, and trash can • Walking trails within the gated property • Parking at the main trailhead • Washhouse with coin-operated washer, dryer, and full bathroom with shower The property is fully fenced and gated, with coded entry for your safety and privacy. ⸻ 🧺 Washhouse Courtesy & Cleanliness The washhouse is a shared courtesy space for all campers. Nestled in the woods just off the main camping loop, this peaceful site is perfect for tent, car, or van campers. You can park right on the trail leading to your campsite for easy access. This is a true primitive site—no running water or electricity. A porta potty is a short walk away, and the main Washhouse (with a sink, flush toilet, shower, and coin-operated laundry) is just across the grassy knoll. Your site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and trash can. Firewood is available for purchase on-site—please note that cutting or gathering live vegetation is strictly prohibited. Parking is limited to one vehicle at the site, with overflow parking available nearby. 🧺 Washhouse Courtesy & Cleanliness The washhouse is a shared courtesy space for all campers. Cleanliness, respect for others, and proper shared use are mandatory. It is not a personal hangout area—please avoid lingering or behaviors that make others uncomfortable using the facility. There is a porta potty in campground area, and water and an electric outlet at site! Wifi will be spotty at this site, but is available on the grounds. This site cannot accommodate RVs. This is a gated campground with spacious, spread out sites. We are a few minutes from area rivers, creeks and Blackwater River State Forest. 45 mins from the Emerald Coast beaches in Destin, Okaloosa Island or Navarre.

There are well-maintained walking/biking/hiking trails are on the property, with many parts shaded. Sites have water, sewer, and electric. Red Oak Nook has a 50 AMP connection but we have a 50 to 30 AMP adapter you can use. If you are a tent only camper contact me for a discount code for this site! Pets are welcome! However, you cannot leave your pet unattended outside when you are not on site. Always keep your pet on a leash when outside of your campsite. Come enjoy some time in the woods, but keep the convenience of A/C or heat, a refrigerator, microwave, a comfy bed, a TV, and a shower and RV toilet! Want to enjoy a Destin vacation, but not all of the Destin prices - make day trips to enjoy the beach and enjoy campfires in the woods at night! This spot is right past the tree line when you enter the campground. It is ~30’x50’+ site with an updated 2003 Dutchman Sport 28' camper ready for you. The camper is backed up to the tree line with full hook up to 30 AMP power, water, sewer, a fire ring, and picnic table. It may not be the bougieiest camper :) but it is comfortable, clean, and cozy! Camper comes with full size bed in the main bedroom with door, and 2 twin beds in the back bedroom. Bedding is provided, along with basic kitchen and cooking supplies. Pitching a tent on the site is absolutely allowed! So kids can tent camp and mom and dad can enjoy the A/C :). There is a 1x cleaning fee that will be added to the overall total for booking the cozy camper. Our campground is a gateway to the expansive activities of the Blackwater State Forest and to the beautiful Northwest Florida Emerald Coast (Destin, Okaloosa Island, Pensacola Beaches, 30A). Really enjoyed our time at gateway trails. The host welcomed us when we got there. The property is beautiful and loved the walking trails. And the washhouse was well stocked and clean. Would definitely recommend.

Like the title says, this is a perfect place for a getaway or extended stay. I stayed in a tent during my stay & loved it. I picked this site for the electric & water hookups, which also makes ideal for anyone with a small camper. The (seemingly brand new) bathroom facilities are a 30 second walk away… which includes very well kept full bathroom, hot shower, & coin operated washing machine & dryer. They even have a soda/snacks pay-as-you-go honor system general store. I had access to WiFi from the site too. I spent most of my days relaxing by the fire in the comfy Adirondack chairs. The site is nestled in the back corner of the property, which gave me all the privacy I wanted, but close enough to all of the amenities that Jay & Suzette (owners) have to offer. Speaking of which, they are really lovely, down to earth people… they’ll make sure you get what you need with timely communication, yet they don’t intrude on your camping experience. All in all, the whole experience was great: peaceful, relaxing, & yet still had all the creature comforts of modern day living within reach if I wanted. Great spot, great owners, & an overall great trip.

Absolutely beautiful. Very cozy and inviting and the washroom was such a nice touch! If you love the privacy and peace of the woods but still like the comfort of a few people being around this is the place for you!! Will definitely be back!!

We got to our campsite pretty late and after dark and it was very easy to find ! The welcome packet they provided was soo extremely helpful and we added on firewood to our booking and that made getting set up super easy. Having electric and water was also great ! The washhouse was incredibly clean and well stocked and I had a great shower with hot water. Would recommend to anyone who needs a safe, clean place to camp. There are donkeys and other wild life as well as fellow campers dogs that made sleeping a little tricky as it was a bit loud so i would recommend packing ear plugs if u are a restless sleeper.

Tent camp site was level and free of debris. The picnic table, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs were nice. This site is close to the laundry and bathhouse - which was super clean. Complimentary alarm clock: Awoke every morning to roosters crowing. Would recommend.

Return visit to this amazing HipCamp space. Beyond the hosts being super amazing communicators, the bathroom is spotless…. And I loved being able to take a nice hot shower, in a super clean shower stall. On this trip, while driving over, some deer crossed my path about a mile out (3 babies with mom)… so be careful…. Deer in the area! I will absolutely be coming back, and I hope to stay a few days next time. Thank you Jay and Suzette!

Jay and Suzette are amazing Hipcamp hosts! They did everything they could to ensure I had the best possible stay. When they heard about my particular camping rig setup (overlanding truck), they offered to move me to another location that they said I would enjoy even more. WOW! That was proactive on their part! They truly were attentive to my having a positive experience. It is very easy to find their location and they provide very detailed instructions on how to not only find your specific spot (with a detailed map!!), but also how everything works. They have laundry facilities on site (at a reasonable price I might add), and their shower space is fantastic! Very very clean with plenty of hot water. The lending library was great; the honor system based pantry was nice too. The other campers I encountered were all nice and everyone minded their own space. The camping spot was clean and level for me. It is tough identifying one amazing thing as there are so many great things to love about the experience. I will absolutely be back and I hope to stay more than one night next time. Thank you Jay and Suzette! You are Hipcamp hosts who do it right!! -Will

We had fun. Nice spot! We blew a breaker by accident and Jay came right out to fix it. He was nice and even fixed the wires on the light that caused it. 10 out of 10

Approximately ten minutes from I-10, it is very quiet and private. Owner met me inside the gate with additional information and directions. Pretty setting, and excellent price. I highly recommend this stay to anyone looking to stay in this area. Probably the nicest Hipcamp stay of all for me.

Jay and suzette's gateway to Paradise trails. LOL. Sure feels that way up here. You are centrally located to get to Crestview or to Baker or Holt lots of trails. I'm doing traveling through Florida this summer on a bike and backpack and had an amazing 2-week stay one week in the area for campers with tint or RV with power and water hookups. That was nice. Also really liking the nomadic primitive camping in the back. Nice and quiet. Jay and Suzette are absolutely amazing. Can't say enough good things about them. Definitely a great place to come and will be coming again in the future. And highly recommend with the blackwater Creek lake. Just 2 mi away. Perfect place for swimming, water is amazing!!!

We loved the RV! The place was clean and the owners left all the necessities we could think of needing! The location was perfect- near a swimming lake and within 15 minutes of Blackwater river. The only downside was the WIFI was spotty so, when it rained (as it does a lot in June) we had to rely on the DVD player to keep the kids entertained until we could run around outside again.

First off, Jay and Suzette are awesome people super accommodating and the fact that you have access to porta potty excellent tasting water, Wi-Fi and electricity and you're at the gateway to everything. That's why they named their campsite gateway trails. Is your really centrally located between several towns and Crestview is only 10 Mi away which is a pretty big city with lots of restaurants and shopping. The area itself is really a special place. Very beautiful and blackwater Creek lake is less than 2 mi away. Perfect place to swim or fish or hang out for the day. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks Jay and Suzette. You guys rock!

Such a gorgeous spot and the hosts were so sweet and hospitable not to mention the tv provided everything we needed and then some. A week to shut down here was exactly what we need and my favorite part was I could have the woods in the morning and night but the beach as well being only 40 mins away. We so appreciate jay and Suzette and will be back next year 🖤

Flat, easy access to electric and water. Short walk to pota potty. Welcome packet was very detailed allowing us to find the location quickly at dusk. Barn animals sound an early wake up, but that wasn't bothersome for our trio.

We loved car camping on Jay and Suzzettes land. This was our first time using Hipcamp and they couldn't have made things easier! They provided easy to follow instructions and offered optional amenities. The site was private and I really enjoyed rising to the sounds of the livestock. We would definitely stay again!

The hosts were kind and courteous,cleared a spot just so we could have privacey,went above and beyond..very clean campsites,very peaceful atmosphere ..the picnic table and fire pit were very convenient and nice..I would definitely recommend this camp site

Field - RV Boondocking
The boondocking site was just the right fit for that leg of my travels. Self contained toyhauler and Chihuahua mix. Once the door closed maybe if semi drove past may I have heard it. Host's were talkative quite pleasant and informative. Stay again, sure would.

This was my second trip to Gateway Trails, first was a solo trip and this time, friends came to enjoy! This site was new to me but was equally wonderful. The campsite was so spacious and yet private and protected, we felt perfectly safe walking around at any time of the day or evening. The site-mentioned outhouse was pristine upon arrival, our purchased firewood was stacked so carefully by the perimeter of our site so it wouldn’t impede tent setup, and the fire pit and table were clean and ready to go! We had less bug friends than I’ve ever seen at a campsite, plenty of space right next to the potable water to set up a portable shower, and the stars at night were clear and bright, deep in the heart of Florida (ten points to you if you know that adjusted lyric). Mr. Jay came to greet us and brought over his adorable pup to say hello as well. It’s been two years since I’ve been to their campsite, and he still remembered me (even after all their fully booked months!) and greeted us all with such kindness. We were bummed we didn’t get to see Mrs. Suzette but respectfully might request a celebrity appearance next time we come down! Thank you Gateway Trails for a fun, safe, and gorgeous camping trip, we cannot wait to come back.

The property is in a perfect location for star gazing, safe with gate code.Owners have a residence and can assist with pre-delivering firewood and or even a complete tent set up.Private nooks for campers and a new bath house being built. We went with 2 dogs 3 kids and it was great!
