Welcome to another time... 1946. Although off grid, there is an indoor toilet, and it has a kitchen, complete with hot and cold water, stove and refrigerator . As is true with all off grid, you must monitor use of water, gas and electricity. These are limited daily by what you have in the water tank, propane tank and batteries. Conservation will be a friend during your stay in Little John. Peace and quiet will be your soulmate as you glide your cares away under the shade of pungent pine. The area has a lot of history - going back to homesteading families, and stage coach routes heading out towards eastern Colorado. Farming and ranching were prevalent and nearly everyone owned a milk cow or two for fresh milk and cream. Much timber was cut from our area and south into the Black Forest for the railroad. There is still a renovated one room school house across the valley and a cemetery with dates back into the late 1800’s.
The nearest stores are in Monument which is about 15 minutes drive. We live in a rural community and there are several “Open Spaces” nearby for mountain biking or hiking. Or you can just stay close to home and hike around on our 40 acre woods. There are also beautiful hikes in Palmer Lake (20 minutes drive), Castlewood Canyon (20 min) or Colorado Springs (40 minutes drive) and all points west into Manitou Springs and beyond or south to the Royal Gorge (about 1 Hr). And of course, the beautiful Air Force Academy is only 30 minutes away.
