Elk are in rut and you can hear them bugling from your campsite. The aspen groves are peaking and we’re surrounded by orange scrub oak for fall. Oh, we have views! You may have a campfire and we have free wood! We also have delicious duck eggs! A beautiful 40 acre ranch on Hastings Mesa with views of Alder Canyon and Hayden’s Peak. You can hear Alder Creek flowing through the canyon from the comfort of your campsite. Many nearby options for bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing in the area. Once you pull out the driveway you are a few minutes from Last Dollar Ranch Road (hike, bike, or 4x4) and about a 25 minute drive to Telluride, 30 minutes to Ridgway, and 30 minutes to Norwood. Just outside of Ridgway is Orvis Hot Springs, and more hot springs can be found in Ouray. The property offers access to Alder Creek and our beaver ponds down in the canyon. The fields are blanketed with Iris and clematis flowers in May and June and other wild flowers throughout the summer including pentstemon, larkspur, and wild roses. There are patches of scrub oak and fields with cinquefoil bushes in the camping areas, and as you go down in the canyon there’s aspen groves, blue spruce, and ponderosa pines. As mentioned before, we have delicious farm fresh duck eggs from our happy free-ranging ducks!

Pull through spot where you can camp at your vehicle or go out into a field covered with cinquefoil bushes, surrounded by scrub oak. Gorgeous views of Hayden’s peak, and lots of flat spots for tents. The pull through area is fairly level. There are areas that you can put your tent under some scrub oak trees for shade.

This is a walk-in site that is located where the property drops down into the canyon with a view. There are flat areas for tents. Class B RVs, camper vans, cars, trucks, and SUVs 20ft or less in length are permitted and can park onsite, but the designated campsite is the walk-in area. You may sleep in your vehicle, but please do not set up tents and other gear in the parking area. Walk to designated space, please. This also ensures privacy for yourself and to other campers and campsites nearby. There is a fire pit, however we often have a fire ban, but you may bring a propane fire pit to use during those times.

Beautiful meadow behind a greenhouse surrounded by scrub oak. The campsite is a pull through, allowing you to drive around the other side of the greenhouse when you leave for convenience. You may tent camp in the meadow area behind the Greenhouse or in the shady old scrub oak trees surrounding it.

Beautiful open field area covered with wildflowers and mountain views. The small field area is surrounded by scrub oak where you can pop your tent or hammocks up in a shady spot. You can camp right on site beside your vehicle, or choose to walk in to the woods a little bit and pitch your tent. There is a fire pit, however we often have a fire ban, but you may bring a propane fire pit to use during those times. This is suggested because it gets cold at night, and we often are under a fire ban. Please plan for that.

Site with the best peak views! Gorgeous site with views of Hayden’s peak and lots of space, either in the meadow or in the shade of the oaks. This site is located just as you come down the driveway at the top of the property, and is separate from the other sites.

The scenery was beautiful and the host was very communicative. But, these sites are not meant for 20' campers. Very tight lots of half buried pointy rocks and if the weather isn't perfect the road in and out is sketchy at best. It would be fine for tear drop, pop up or even tent camping however.

This was an excellent campsite with a wonderful view. Secluded. Well kept. The option to buy a half dozen duck eggs for breakfast in the morning was awesome! Great hospitality. This was my first HipCamp experience and it left a great impression on me

We unfortunately weren't able to get our RAM campervan to the lower campsites area due to some weather and a steeper driveway than we expected -- it definitely felt more like offroading than we were prepared for! That said, Mary was very accommodating and a great communicator, and the location was really beautiful. Just make sure you're bringing the right vehicle!

Gorgeous spot, made for a great nights sleep after days adventuring around the area and hitting some trails! Highly recommend, loved the area and the people, felt incredibly welcomed and had a blast.

I was in CO for a festival in Telluride and this spot was the perfect antidote to the busyness of town. It was heaven to wake up every morning and look out at the view and see deer and butterflies. When I arrived Mary gifted me duck eggs and they were delicious fried up for breakfast! She was a great host and easy to communicate with. I felt safe camping alone as a woman. The roads in, especially the last little bit, are steep and rough. I was grateful for my truck. I would definitely camp here again if I’m ever in the area.

This was the perfect getaway. We love off-roading and enjoy nature at its finest. From sunset to sunrise, we love spending our time here. Mary is lovely, respectful and informative. Directions and landmarks were clear and fun to follow. Recommend highly, more than likely to return!

After a short rough road, this campsite turned out to be all I hoped for. It had a good spot for the tent and a safe fire pit with access to free wood for a campfire. Nice views.

What a wonderful experience!! The directions were very helpful, super fun for those who love off roading. The campsites marked beautifully, the wildlife is plentiful. Our host was lovely and respectful. There are many little holes all around so be careful, a little fun obstacle course haha. LOVE ALL THE BEES! Save the bees! However, take precautions for anyone with bee allergies. Overall, a fantastic experience! I hope all hipcamp experiences are like this gem!

Super fun site! It’s beautiful and as described on an outlook over the Mts. It feels fairly secluded and was peaceful. Would recommend! The drive up wasn’t that difficult at all, we have a Subaru Outback, but would be a little trickier if the ground is super muddy so keep that in mind

I chose this site because of the proximity to Telluride. Mary, the ranch owner, was kind, accommodating and very welcoming! The Old Cinquefoils site is beautiful and quiet and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay! We hope to visit again soon!

I chose this Hipcamp due to proximity to Telluride. Mary, the owner, is so kind and accommodating and my party of five all had a wonderful 2 night stay. Her ranch is secluded and quiet and exactly what we were looking for!! I hope to visit her ranch again someday!

Mary was lovely with her sweet son on her hip. This high mesa land is full of wildflowers, deer and cool evenings on a summer day. The pictures depict the sites well. The driveway is steep but worked fine for a ram camper van. I loved the adventure of not knowing what to expect - we loved being on this homestead.

The site was very beautiful and quiet and relaxing. The road to her property is very rough but drivaowith 2 wheel drive. If it is wet or muddy however check with her for road conditions. Overall an excellent stay.

Gorgeous, serene view! Mary was attentive to my messages. I brought a 15 ft trailer and the road in was bumpy and steep. Worth it if you wanna get away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to Telluride (which was such a cool town). I’d come back here for sure.

This was a great place to stay! Mary was a very generous host. The property is beautiful and we loved waking up to the birds and wildflowers. Great access to Telluride and Ridgway. Word to the wise, make sure you have a high clearance vehicle! We had to leave one car behind.

Lovely family! Quiet and although the sites are near the main infrastructure, the scrub oak allows it to feel more private. I was able to follow a game trail down to the bottom of the canyon, which was beautiful.

Lovely quiet spot. Enjoyed the wild Irises and spring green June 1. Four wheel drive is handy getting up the driveway. I’d say essential with a trailer. Use Google maps to find. Apple Maps not specific enough.
