Gondola Village at Holy Cross is a little sanctuary in the mountains between Vail, Leadville, and Aspen. There is little nearby except for the next door Holy Cross Wilderness, with a lifetime worth of trails, lakes, and peaks to explore -- all only two hours from Denver. Gondola Village at Holy Cross has direct access that many dream of to Colorado's water wilderness, and some of the best backcountry skiing, hiking, scrambling, backpacking, and fly fishing in the Summit Vail Eagle Aspen area. Our modern alpine cabins are some of the cutest cabins you'll step foot in, complete with a mix of amenities to make your wilderness stay a bit more comfortable. Gondola Village at Holy Cross is at 11.5k feet above sea level (believed to be the highest altitude Hipcamp in the world). Gondola Village at Holy Cross has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed, Airbnb's OMG! Fund, Arch Digest, and the site of many product shoots. The managers of this property have worked in yurt, ADU, and cabin construction and hospitality for many years and have brought together some of the best Scandinavian and modern design with a mining town aesthetic. The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21)

Your wilderness adventure awaits in this darling Alpine cabin, inspired by mining heritage and huts around the world. The High Alpine Cabin at Gondola Village is ready for adventure, elopement, anniversaries, brand shoots, more. Believed to be the highest Hipcamp cabin in the world.  Regardless of season, adventure is guaranteed, but read this about access so you are educated about our wilderness travel options in all seasons: In summer, most guests will want to hike 2.5 miles (or more depending on the choice of trails) to the site, as the hike is beautiful, and the drive is best reserved for motorbikesor 4wd jeeps with winches.  In winter (Nov 21 - May 21), access is by over-snow vehicles such as snowmobiles (with proper experience), backcountry skis (with proper experience), snowshoes. Expect 10.5 - 11+ miles of over-snow transport Gondola Village is a one room cabin with full bed for two and extra mattresses for one more person. Large variety of excellent backcountry ski routes, fly fishing lakes, hiking trails, and climbing. Leave No Trace style property your LNT practices help us keep hosting awesome people. Please remember food, water, and sleeping bag liners if you want to use our bags, wag bags (for use with the gray folding NRS toilet, located in the outdoor bath). Pots and such are available for your use. There is a small wood burning stove inside the cabin for late fall, winter, and spring use (please bring 6" length logs if you'd like to use this) and there is a fire pit/ring outside (please bring 8-16" length logs if you'd like to use this). Check local fire bans (Eagle County and White River National Forest) before burning! Expect to have no cell service along the way so we would suggest downloading the area map to your phone before taking off. A topo map is an excellent item for your pack as well. There are several different routes you can take when getting to the cabin Winter (Nov 21 - May 20, approx, check USFS website for exact): Plan on the road being unplowed off of HWY 24, so plan on 7.5 miles flat on the 703 road and then 3.5-4 miles up on the Road 759 (right turn off of 703) over snow by snowmobile, snowshoes, touring skis, etc. Parking is often available at start of 703 road well before the bridge, or off of 24.

Note … this is a work trade (but we allow for plenty of time for exploring and enjoying the beautiful surroundings), not just a cheap camp spot! Hi all.... If anyone (past guests, friends, future guests) wants to help with an awesome project (featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed show and part of Airbnb’s OMG! Fund) we are offering 2+ nights cabin stay in a modern, insulated cabin on the property we help manage in exchange for a little help (trail work, landscaping, cleaning, staining, other construction needs). Dates for 2025 (planned so far): October 11-13 Rest of September, October, November tbd Before booking, we ask that you have a willingness to help with relevant trail building, landscaping, or construction projects and / or work. Please include your experience levels in each area in the request to book. Minimum 2 night stay so you have time to both help with the property and explore. Feel free to contact us with any questions. We are located near Holy Cross City, CO bordering the Holy Cross Wilderness. In summer the approach is minimum 2.5+ miles hiking or driving a jeep crawler, more like 4 miles if you don’t have a good SUV or truck with 8” + of clearance.
