Cottonwood Tree Camp

We needed a place to test some new gear, and this spot has a nice small town, Brush, just minutes away. The location is a backyard of a small ranch with chickens and very nice shade. Fair warning, there are trains passing through, the tracks are approx 1250 feet from the site. The host is as nice as they come, very accommodating and the area itself has virtually no traffic, but the freeway is within hearing distance as it runs parallel to the train. If you're looking for something centralized in Northeast Colorado, this is an excellent choice. Also, a curious yellow dog may wander nearby, just checking on you. He's friendly and keeps his distance, so nothing to be alarmed about. He's probably the neighborhood watch.

Car Damage, but Great Spot & Host

Most of the spot was good, so I’ll start with the bad, which is really just a warning: unfortunately, my car’s underside got absolutely wrecked by a hidden rock as Stan was guiding me over a little bridge to get on to the property. Although I was in a sedan, the listing does say 2WD and Car accessible so I’m gonna negate that. Regardless of fault and whatnot, I think it could be beneficial giving a heads up in the Getting There section or maybe at the time of booking that the GPS takes you on the back road where you must cross a narrow bridge to enter the property. There IS a front road entrance that is super easy to drive over, it’s just not where GPS takes you. I had to note that just for any other car campers… but with that out of the way, I DO recommend this spot. Stan is a pleasure and a fantastic host, he even went out of his way to accommodate my late arrival. The property itself is well kept with plenty of tables, a firepit, running water, and chickens! I got the best sleep I’ve gotten in awhile while on my current road trip just from how comfortable I was in the area.

Great RV spot on Stan's land! He has electricity available and potable water, if you need it. Lovely farming community - Stan has some beautiful free ranging chickens which are fun to camp with. We will stay again!

Stan and his mother were so welcoming and checked in on me throughout my stay to make sure o had everything I needed. It was peaceful and quiet except for the train nearby but that was a non issue. The chickens were so cute and luckily frequented coming by my tent. Highly recommend

This was my first stay using Hipcamp. It was rather last minute as I was driving across country and trying to push farther. It was dark and I needed to stop. I didn’t get a chance to do much correspondence since I was driving. Luckily, Stan was out with a flashlight when I showed up. Pointed me where to park and got a giant extension cord to plug in. Nice and flat and quiet space. We got on the road the next day. Not a lot of time to experience, but just what we needed.

Lovely & quiet w/ freeway nearby

Stan was a friendly and competent host whom appears to have been at this a while. He was there to greet us upon arrival and helped guide us into our site for the evening. The property was located in an area that looked and felt rural and was very quiet, while relatively close to the freeway, which made it easy to get right back on the road in the morning. We are new to both the RV travel and Hipcamp (this was our 3rd site) and we would definitely go back if ever in the area.

Stan was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He showed me a bit of the farm, where I could stay, and brought some firewood to a fire pit near me for the night. Really great camp spot not far from the highway. Highly recommend if you need a quick place to stay in NE Colorado!

Shade and Fresh Eggs!

Stan is a gracious host; his property was perfect for a short stopover on my cross-country trip, very easy to get to from the highway. In a hot and arid part of the country northeast of Denver, his shady yard was a welcome respite! He provided a couple of convenient tables and plenty of chairs. There was a firepit along with long sticks for roasting marshmallows or hotdogs, and he offered me some firewood; I opted not to build a fire because the weather was quite hot the night I was there, but it would have been a wonderful way to spend the evening otherwise. I awoke to plenty of birdsong and pretty sunrise. Best of all, I bought eggs freshly laid by his many chickens--they were the best farm eggs I've had in a long time!

Very Peaceful Camping

Stan was great and left us fire wood and some chairs to sit on by the fire. There were a lot of stickers and millions of flys. We really enjoyed our time and we would probably go again.

Stan was very welcoming with local ideas about places to see in the area. The site delivered with a spectacular sunset and a nice sunrise over the sunflower patch. Our dog enjoyed cooling off in the adjacent irrigation canal too. Power and water were readily available. The rooster woke us gently at the appropriate time. Thanks for the hospitality!

Stan is the best! We worked out some parking while I left the state for a bit, the farm is also very private and solitary. Great views of the weather. Speaking of, do bring bug spray, this year has been unseasonably wet.

Stan was very nice, and accomodated us on short notice. We got in after dark and he was there to meet us with a flash light & showed us where the spot was along with the amenities such as an out house, fire pit, and table all for use. We had our dog with us, and he let us know exactly where all we could take him on a walk so really great first impression! However, there was 1 significant negative during our stay and that was the mosquitoes. I really think the property owners should get some kind of deterrent such as citronella plants or candles, or idk but something is needed to help reduce the amount of them surround the site. We set our tent up as quickly as we could and got inside to just call it a night without being able to really look around or enjoy the property at all. So with that being said, we wouldn't stay there again during warmer months unfortunately.
