10/10! Chandler is the best host. He had a big plot of land where you can park near other people or head father back and be secluded. He has a communal fire pit that he sets up with wood nightly and even brought our group our own pit as well. There is not much shade, so if you are car/ tent camping, you might want to head to Boulder for the day.

I will start with a positive. The lake which the property has access to, does look beautiful at dusk and dawn. The fish seem super active during the early morning, and it was nice sitting up there in the early morning to watch them.
Now for the multiple negative points and why would never return. #1. The lake is actually not even on this property. #2. This property is a hoarders dumping ground, which trash, such as chairs and appliances, to huge containers, etc. there is trash Literally Everywhere you look! In fact, Most of the pictures in the listing are looking out towards the 2 properties on either side of the property you will stay at. #3. The property is extremely hard to find and there are no visible markings off of the highway to let you know that is the drive way to pull in to. The welcome instructions mention a green gate. It was barely green. There was a beware of dog sign. And the house looked like something out of a scary movie. When my brother got there we walked down to the house to meet the host. Honestly, we were scared we might be shot. Because this property looks Nothing, and I mean Nothing like the photos! 4. The campground faces All of the house and trash and was completely overgrown and not very far from the owners house. So we chose the area at the back of the campground instead, which still had a trash camper, huge rat traps, chairs, an animals pelt, etc. around it. It was pretty wild.
I would Never recommend staying here!

I will not be returning and am sorely disappointed with Hip Camp for saying this was a "staff verified" location. It also had good reviews that are clearly staged. This host should NOT be allowed to have a campground on Hip Camp. It was beyond disgusting and we had to stay the night because we had no where else to go. Appalling conditions.
There were a number of issues with Cottonwood Shades at Blue Heron Ranch. Longmont CO.
1. Place was very difficult to find, with zero signage.
2. Upon arrival, house was like a hoarders home with old washer and dryers, refuse, and filth all over.
3. Campsite was more of the same with an old, broken office chair rotting in long grass along with large pieces of tin/metal, living room furniture, old rugs hung over the barbed wire fence, old yoga mat, rat traps, tables, tires, trash cans, glass, and general debris all over.
4. The listing has an old camper/RV for rent at the back of the property where we camped that was surrounded by trash and not a clean place to stay in or out.
5. The "spring fed" pond was filth. I would not let anyone in my party, including my dog go near.
6. There is little to no shade.

Chandler was a fantastic host! The campsite was absolutely perfect for what we needed, it was beautiful and tons of open space for our group to stretch out and relax. The only downfall was the mosquitos, which is not anyone's fault as it's just the time of year. Just something to be mindful of :) overall a fantastic experience, so much fun and so enjoyable, we'll definitely be back!

Great spot with an mazing view of the mountains and easy to get to - Chandler was an awesome host and we felt very comfortable. He had plenty of room for our 42 foot camper and hookups which made it even better!

The property owner & his wife are extremely kind people! It’s been such a blessing being able to stay here while I figured out what the next steps are that I need to take in life. The land that they have is absolutely stunning & I highly recommend this place to others. I will be back again sometime that’s for sure!! Thank you Chandler 🙏🏼🦋

Beautiful open spot! Set up our little suv to view the sunset and it was perfect! Chandler was an excellent host, helping us find an ideal spot and getting wood for our firepit! Will come again :)

This camping area is an open field just off of 1-20 beyond Boulder. For being directly off a busy road, the sound pollution was low as you are really tucked off the road.
This is a primitive campsite so you can choose where you want to camp in an open field, there are not bathroom facilities although the host Chandler mentioned he might install one in the near future, and there is one main fire pit near the house. I pitched my tent just on the edge of the property beside the field of very curious cattle where you can get a sweeping view of the Rockies.
The Hipcamp host Chandler was very welcoming, he stopped by to greet me on my way into camp with his dog Sugar and built me a fire later at the fire pit, accompanied by his chicken Hans Solo.
Overall I would highly recommend this Hipcamp for campers who want proximity to Boulder, pretty views and don't mind low amenities.

The camping area was nice and grassy, well maintained, and had plenty of room for all our tents plus a van and trailer!
The host was super kind and even checked on our stuff after some rain came through. 10/10 would recommend!
