Walden Ranch began with the purchase of a neighboring 20 acres. Couple that with the inspiration of Thoreau's lines and life at the real Walden Pond, the ranch has grown to nearly 300 acres and the small ranch pond has grown to a 5-acre lake with a 3-acre forest and home. Scouts, family and church groups use the site for gatherings. Available are canoes, bonfire, and exploring the ranch's 300-head cattle, llamas, poultry and wildlife.  Pitch your tent in a forest setting alongside a lake on a working cattle ranch. Watch wildlife or hike to smaller lakes on the ranch. Other animals include dogs, llamas, geese, chickens, and  horses.  The ranch is within a 20 minute drive to either Stockton or Lodi, CA and is surrounded by vineyards, orchards and pastures.  Outdoor flush toilets, sink, tables and fire ring available. Forested area is set amidst grazing lands.  This "Walden" even has willow trees slipped from Walden Pond, MA. Owner looks forward to sharing this peaceful, special spot! Pitch your tent in a forest setting alongside a lake on a working cattle ranch. Walden Ranch Camping
So much fun, camping with animals!
We had THE BEST time at Walden Ranch. Alan, the host was amazing. Our girls got to play with the puppies, feed the herd of cows, and even feed a baby calf!! The camping area was grassy, easy to set up our tent, and plenty of room for privacy. Lots of tress to provide shade as well a hang up our hammocks. We were able to walk around and explore, it was beautiful. We live nearby and this was the perfect quick getaway to enjoy nature and be outside without fighting traffic or committing to a long drive. But even if we lived further away, Walden Ranch is worth it. We definitely plan on being back again.

Great stay and an awesome welcome from the farm dogs! We got to wake up to the dogs coming back to say hello and the little piglet. Ames egghead roaming around with the farm hands!

Camping with animals!
We had a fun time at Alan's beautiful property. The Ranch has Llamas, horses, herds of cattle, few peacocks, his lovely playful dogs and smart little fella Adrian, the pig. It was a much needed grounding experience for us. Thank you for hosting us, Alan. We hope to return to this Ranch again in future.

Great Place to Camp!!
We had a great time camping at Walden Ranch! Alan is a very nice host and dropped by several times to make sure everything was going well. It is a working ranch with cattle, llamas and a few horses and donkeys. The grove of trees provides ample shade and the grass throughout is very nice to set up camp on. Lodi is not far away and we were able to go wine tasting during the heat of the day. We definitely plan to come back in the spring when it is a bit cooler.

Such a great and quiet environment that I extended my one night stay into a two-night stay.

Walden Ranch Camping
Quiet
This campsite offers plush, soft grass and a comfortably cushioned ground, perfect for a relaxing stay. There's a brick building on-site with two stalls and modern toilets (bring a light for day & nighttime visits). The bathroom is well-maintained, with toilet paper provided, and there's a sink and shower (cold water only) located on the side of the bathroom building. The amenities are clean and simple, with a power outlet near the bathroom and as well as a sink, fire pit, and charcoal BBQs for your cooking needs. The fire pit area also has wood available for purchase, with a convenient payment box and QR code for easy transactions. You might encounter a few large, very friendly dogs that roam the area. Besides the distant sounds of farm animals, the campsite is generally very quiet (depending on nearby campers). Living just 45 minutes away, I will definitely be returning for another visit.
