Bad Rat Ranch is a 20-acre ranch with 8 acres of lush vineyards in the scenic countryside of Northern California. The ranch is set amongst rolling hills and vineyards about two hours from both San Francisco and Sacramento. We provide two guest houses (cabins), as well as two campsites with RV hookups. The ranch is an oasis with plenty of space to stretch out. Wander the vineyard, down a beer in the outdoor living room, join a game of volleyball or ping pong, cook a gourmet meal on the BBQ, and end your day soaking in the shared hot tub. Whether you want some seclusion, to hang with other campers, or to visit the attractions of northern California, the ranch offers everything you need for a comfortable stay! Konocti Several local casinos for some nighttime fun Local creek for cold water swims 15 minutes from Hidden Valley Golf Course 15 minutes from a local grocery store We're pretty chill, so make yourself at home. This is northern California though, so electricity and water don't come easy. Please be mindful of consumption.

Camp 2 is for the joiners! This tent or RV site is right in the heart of the ranch, surrounded by vineyards, and easily accessible from everywhere. The site offers electric hookup for an RV, plenty of parking, an outdoor shower with hot water, and potable water. This site features an outdoor porta-potty which may be shared with Camp 1 if someone is staying there. It also features a shaded outdoor seating area, BBQ grill, ample parking, and vineyard views. The ranch's communal amenities are at your fingertips with the yard games, hot tub, beach volleyball, and badminton right outside your door.

Camp 1 is our most private and basic campsite. It features a space for a tent, an RV, or a van. The site has running water with an outdoor sink and an electrical hookup for an RV. It features an outdoor seating area with a table and sofa, parking, and vineyard views. This site is located away from the Central hub of the farm, so if you are seeking peace and quiet, this will be your preferred spot. All amenities are still within walking distance, but you have a bit more privacy on this pitch. An outdoor toilet is available at campsite 2. Guests will also have access to the communal entertainment near Camp 2. There's a ping pong table, outdoor chill area, hot tub, yard games, and a volleyball court.

Our little red loft house is adorable. It's been professionally designed and decorated to maximize the small space. It features a living space and a fully equipped kitchen as well as a sleeping loft with a view. The tiny house comfortably sleeps two, and guests have access to a fully private space. The Guesthouse at Badrat is our largest unit and sits at the heart of the ranch amongst the vineyards. It's a fully private cabin with one bedroom, a large living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private bath. Parking is available in the driveway just outside. The bedroom features a queen bed, fireplace, and private patio with outdoor seating. The bathroom features a standing shower, and linens and towels are provided. Guests also have access to all of our public spaces including a volleyball court, hot tub, yard games, hammocks, and much more!

We loved Marek's tiny house, where we spent a beautiful December weekend. He and his dog Ceviche were wonderful hosts. Our own dog loved roaming around the large ranch, together with Ceviche, and we also enjoyed walking around the vineyards. Two incredible wineries, Wild Diamond and 6-sigma are very close by. We enjoyed tasting wine at both, and the views from the Wild Diamond tasting rooms is amazing.

Bad Rat ranch is a lovely, charming place. Merrick was a generous and kindhearted host, and Ceviche was the perfect welcoming committee. We hope to come back when the weather is a little warmer and dryer!

Marek and Ceviche were great hosts, he came down after we got back from our day seeing the valley and sat and talked with us, explaining details about the his vineyard, the surrounding area and some of his adventures. Great location, quiet and at night great for stargazing. Highly recommend his ranch and Marek is nice and friendly

We had a very good time at the tiny house. It was very peaceful and Ceviche made our stay even more special. The house is very comfy and has everything you need. Marek is very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend it!

We arrived after sunset and Marek was very helpful in getting us settled in. The land was beautiful and quite remote, we had a great view of the stars. We were driving a U-Haul and the road to get there was a little bumpy, so keep that in mind if you are staying here while moving!

Marek's property is really special! Tucked away from the main roads and few neighbors. Beautiful views in the day and stars at night. There was cell service on property and the guesthouse was easy to find.

We had a great time camping on Marek’s land. He is a kind and welcoming host, always prompt and ready to share plenty of interesting stories. His dog, Ceviche, was such a sweet and friendly companion during our stay. The property was clean, easy to access, and the directions were clear, which made everything simple and stress-free. Highly recommend staying here, thank you Marek for making our trip so enjoyable!

Serene Scenery ✅ Tranquility ✅ Clean Space ✅ Well Equipped Cabin ✅ Friendly & Gracious Host✅ Adorable Dog✅ Unforgettable Experience ✅ Everything I wanted for a much needed peaceful getaway was met. The vineyard is as it was described and more. Amazing backdrop to an adorable and quaint little home. The window on the top overlooking the vineyard made sunrises and sunsets really special. A beautiful vineyard and little gazebo you can tell lots of life was put into this place. Ceviche the dog was so sweet and gentle. Marek was especially friendly and attentive. Great conversations with him. Checked in on me once a day to make sure all was well. PRO: no mosquitoes! I was so happy to bring my own hammock and placed it under the big tree and loved picking some grapes hanging all over the big tree! What an amazing first Hipcamp experience. So many great locations I was looking into but something about that tiny home and pictures of the vineyard really called out to me and I am SOOOO happy I chose this place. It will be hard to choose other places for my next trip. I know I will be back.

Relaxing at the ranch

My partner and I stayed in Marek's tiny home and couldn't have had a better experience. We soaked in the hot tub, strolled around the ranch, and grilled in the evening. Also, the tiny home has a great view from the loft, we woke up to stunning sunrises both mornings we were at the ranch! The landscapes were stunning, and super fun to paint. Marek was great company, and we enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about his ranch and adventures. To top it off, his dog Ceviche is the sweetest :)

I just loved staying in The Tiny House. Both it and the cottage close by were really well appointed and well maintained. I spent a most restful and serene few days relaxing in the breeze by the green, berry-laden vines. So peaceful! Marek is a very generous and considerate host, with a ton of local knowledge - and I can highly recommend Bad Rat Ranch to fellow Hipcampers. There's something here for everyone. Thank you, Marek.

Central Guesthouse
The guesthouse is a nice little unit with all the needed amenities. The farm is lovely and quaint with animals to interact with. But the really nice touch was the host who constantly ensured we had everything we needed and provided recommendations to nearby attractions. Will definitely be back!

Very simple place to stay on a vineyard. Marek is a great host and is very friendly and generous. The place is pretty much exactly as described and pictured. It gets nice and chilly at night with good airflow so we hardly needed the AC unit, except during the daytime. Our dogs loved playing together all day and we enjoyed going to a wine tasting, petting horses and cows, and having a little cookout all together. We would stay again!

It was beautiful spot! Host Marek was really nice and quiet spot. Definitely visit again. Road to his Vineyard had some rough spots but our 2WD class B Travato with motorcycle trailer made through fine. Thanks to Marek we had great time!

Beautiful vineyard setting in the rolling CA hills. Marek is a wonderful host, took us to a couple amazing wineries nearby, one of which 6 Sigma has a nice set of fast mountain bike trails on the property! The campsite includes a fun outdoor shower, portable toilet, power hook-up and the company of his very friendly dog Ceviche. Quiet all day long, full sun or shade under the trampoline “awning.” We loved our stay, wish we could have stayed longer.

We actually stayed in the tiny house because it was not reserved, and we loved it! It's definitely a true tiny house but we found it very comfortable. The loft is just a little bit bigger than the bed that's up there (queen sized) and it was so cozy and quiet. Loved waking up to beautiful sunrises. I saw one review mention the tiny house is too close to the host's house, and while they do share a driveway, we did not hear one sound from the main house and none of the windows face the main house directly. Yes, there are spiders in the house. It's sitting in a meadow area with grasses and plants and other bug-friendly things. I took three spiders outside and thought nothing of it. I'm picky about sheets and towels so I brought my own. The heater was nice and toasty but I appreciated that it was so quiet. I appreciated that Marek let us charge our Chevy Volt :) I would definitely stay here again! It definitely feels like camping, but with some comforts like the hot shower and cozy loft.

Marek was incredibly kind and welcoming. I enjoyed getting to know him and spending time among the vineyards. The land is such a peaceful place to unwind and get refreshed. The road getting there and out again can be a little bit rough. I have a 20 ft travel trailer that I pull with a 2WD pickup. If you have something longer, I would be weary. Camper vans seem to be best for this location, but if you have a powerful truck, you’ll be fine.

The Tiny House
We stayed at the Tiny House, which was very small and cozy! The land is absolutely stunning and as peaceful as it gets! We got a bit of rain in the morning which made it extra cozy. Then as the sun peaked out around noon, we got to experience the vastness of the land and a stroll around the vineyard with Cheviche the dog, who made the whole experience even more friendly as we were missing our dog. We grilled our dinner in the evening and Marek was so accommodating and helpful with everything we needed on site. He is a friendly host and offered wine and play with instruments in the evening! This is not a luxury camp!! There might be a little dust in the corners and the bed was not the best on my achy joints, but for an overnight and the price, it’s a little gem!
