Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Enjoy the peaceful setting of this romantic tiny house cabin and yurt nature retreat overlooking the Russian River. The property feels like your own mini national park, with world-class hiking right outside your door and even more scenic trails just a short drive away. This is true indoor-outdoor living on a forested hillside with stairs, so it may not be suitable for everyone. The 250-square-foot tiny house includes a cozy living room, kitchenette, bathroom with a tub, radiant floor heating, and a wood-burning stove (available during the winter months only). Please note that the bathroom is separated from the living room by a curtain rather than a door. A convertible sofa in the living room can also be made into a bed upon request. About 50 feet from the cabin, tucked into a private forest nook, is a made-in-Alaska, insulated, four-season Nomad Shelter yurt. It features a large skylight, an extra-long full-size medium-firm mattress, crisp 100% cotton sheets, and down comforter(s) for a restful night's sleep. The property sits across from the Russian River on a quiet neighborhood street. Street parking is available directly in front of the property, and approximately 30 steps lead up to the cabin and yurt. Bordering more than 5,000 acres of protected open space—including Freezeout Redwoods Preserve, Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Open Space Preserve, and Sonoma Coast State Park—the property provides direct access to outstanding hiking and mountain biking trails. Keep an eye out for deer, foxes, ospreys, bald eagles, and other local wildlife. Although you can't see neighboring homes from the property, you may occasionally notice people walking along the street below. A small private campground across the river may also bring the distant sounds of families enjoying the outdoors. Summer brings a variety of comfortable microclimates, allowing you to choose between sunny and shaded spots throughout the day. Winter stays are heavily discounted. Please note that there is no river access directly from the property, but several public access points are just a short drive away. We're excited to welcome Hipcamp guests after earning consistent 5-star reviews on another hosting platform!Enjoy the peaceful setting of this romantic tiny house cabin + yurt nature retreat overlooking the Russian River. The property feels a bit like your own mini national park with world-class hiking out the door and more beautiful hikes a short, scenic drive away. This is indoor-outdoor living in the forest, on a hillside, with steps leading up to the cabin. So it's not the right fit for everyone. It's most appropriate for those who are sure-footed, in good shape, and enjoy being close to nature. THE SPACE The tiny-house cabin is approximately 250 square feet and has a small living room, kitchenette with 3-burner propane stove and junior fridge, bathroom with tub, radiant floor heat throughout, and a wood-burning stove (which can only be used during winter months). Please note that the bathroom is separated from the small living room by a curtain (not a door). There's a convertible sofa in the living room that can be folded out into a bed upon request. From the deck of the cabin, walk up another few steps and across a level area to the seasonal yurt (about 50 feet from the cabin). The made-in-Alaska, insulated/four-season, 12ft-wide Nomad Shelter yurt has a large skylight (wonderful for stargazing), extra-long, full-size, medium-firm mattress with 100% crisp cotton sheets and down comforter(s). The property is located across a quiet, dead-end neighborhood street from the Russian River. Parking is on the street, directly in front of the property. There are approximately 30 steps leading from the street up to the cabin and yurt. The property borders protected open space on all four sides, so you won't see any houses, though you may occasionally see neighbors walking by on the street below. There's a small, private campground across the river. So you may hear families and children playing off in the distance. During the summer months, the property has various microclimates. Take your pick of sun or shade depending on weather and preferences. There are many hiking and mountain biking trails in the vicinity and an abundance of birds and wildlife (deer, fox, osprey, the occasional bald eagle, etc.). There's river access a short drive away.
