If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with a few close friends or your family, this option is for you. Tucked in along the South Fork of the American River, this beautiful campsite features picnic benches, a propane fire pit with propane included (fire pits help prevent wildfires), and a prep table for fixing up those tasty fireside meals in group sites. Guests also have access to shared bathroom facilities (and yes, there are showers!), volleyball, ping pong, communal benches, a sink and dishwashing station, and a common swimming area along the river. Most sites are within a very short walking distance to the banks of the South Fork of the American River, this place is ideal for anyone interested in experiencing the beauty of the foothills and the rush of the river. We offer both tent and RV sites. Each RV site includes its own picnic table, water and 30Amp power hookups. Guests will also have access to our volleyball court, ping pong, communal benches, and a common area with a sink and dishwashing station. Additionally, you can access the swim area and go for a dip to cool off on a hot day. If you're looking to steal some time away to reconnect and camp, this is the place for you. People of all ages can camp out, swim, and play. We offer toilets, showers, trash disposal, potable water and more depending on the site you chose. Leashed pets 45 pounds or less are allowed as well. Enjoy biking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paddling, climbing, swimming, whitewater rafting, and wildlife watching all nearby, or on site.

If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with a few close friends or your family, this option is for you. Tucked in along the South Fork of the American River, this beautiful campsite features picnic benches, a propane fire pit with propane included (fire pits help prevent wildfires), and a canopy to keep you cool on those hot days. Please bring you're own propane grill as one is not provided (charcoal not allowed). This site is very private and close to the river so please use caution with young kids. Parking for this site is about 100 yards away so a hand cart is provided for bring gear down to campsite.  Guests also have access to shared bathroom facilities (and yes, there are showers!), volleyball, ping pong, communal benches, a  communal sink and dishwashing station, and a common swimming area along the river.

My husband, 2.5 year old toddler, and I stayed the River campsite. We were greeted by the host shortly after we arrived. Though all the sites were booked up, it was relatively calm and quiet for the duration of our stay. The River site is definitely a far walk from the communal sink, showers, and bathroom, so keep that in mind when you choose your site. One thing to call out was that the provided propane tank for the fire pit was actually on when we arrived at our site. A bit nerve wracking to find that out that gas has been being released for who knows how long around your site. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would book again.

One of the highlights was definitely the river nearby, which added a relaxing and refreshing touch to the whole stay. The site itself was very well organized, from the layout of the pitches to the clean and accessible facilities. Everything felt thoughtfully maintained, which made the stay stress-free and enjoyable. That said, I did find it a bit expensive for what was offered. While the setting and organization were great, the pricing felt slightly on the higher side.

Kris's HipCamp is a great spot. She checked in with us on day one to ensure we had everything we needed. The site was clean. It was mostly shaded from the oak trees and has a beautiful view to rolling hills, oaks and wildlife. It was a short and peaceful walk to the river. The bathrooms were clean. The downsides for us would be that the Larry and Curley sites are very close to each other. We would only reserve it again if we were traveling with another family who could reserve the neighboring site - and in that case it would be a bonus because we could all be together. I would recommend the Moe site if possible because it's in a more private location just up the road. The other possible downside is the available beach is fairly small and just one small section of the river is accessible for swimming and water play. It was great for us because no one else was there when we were, but I can't imagine trying to share the small area with more campers.

Loved the big beautiful scrub oaks and beautiful vista. Bring bug / mosquito spray and watch out for Fox tails for your pets. Another wonderful hipcamp experience.

I had a wonderful experience at this campsite! We visited during the week, and to our delight, our site was the only one occupied, which gave us the freedom to enjoy the swimming area on the river all to ourselves. The campsite is well-maintained, and the hosts are incredibly welcoming. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in nature! It’s also close enough to a few places to easily grab ice for a cooler or anything you may have forgotten. The site it self was more private and the river being just a few yards away was perfect for daily activities. I highly recommend bringing a volleyball or a frisbee to enjoy the on site activities.

Nice quiet campsite with river access nearby. The showers and bathrooms were immaculate. They have great sites for vans, tent camping and group sites with cooking and sinks if you have a large group.

The property is great place to spend a quiet fun time with family. The owners are very friendly and stopped by to say hi during our stay. My wife and I just got back and had the entire campground for ourselves literally from Wednesday thru Friday. We stayed at Moe's campsite. The spot is perfect for our small 17-ft trailer and our dog. River is just a short walk around the corner. It was an awesome campsite for RnR. We are looking forward to go back with our grand kids.

Overall we had a good time but i found aspects of how the camp is advertised to be extremely misleading and there was a plumbing issue that made one of the mornings less than ideal. This wouldn’t be a huge issue had i not spent about $370 for the 2 night stay. We wanted to spend a weekend by the water for my wife’s birthday and by the recommendation of another camp we chose here. When we arrived the beach/water access was small but nice. I however didn’t realize this was part of another camp site (i guess?). The following day there were 3 tents set up on the shore blocking water access and made it not so accessible unless you wanted to walk through a camp site. I checked to make sure and this was indeed a shared space but all the tents and tables in the area honestly didn't leave a lot of space to enjoy the water. The only other place you could get water access dropped off immediately and was full of bramble. I was very disappointed as the entire reason i chose this spot was for the water access. But like i said, the 3 tents on the shore took up basically the entire shared area. The next morning all 3 toilets were not flushing and all were very much used. Ended up using the portapotty at the property next door. I understand that these kinds of things happen, but i expected a little better for the $370 i spent for 2 nights. I feel like the tent/shore situation and the toilets full of poop really soured the experience. I couldn't in good conscience recommend this spot.

I loved Kris and Paul’s camping site. It was very peaceful and beautiful. My kids loved fishing, exploring the beach and nature. Everything was perfect. It was my kids first experience with RV, and they loved it. We definitely want to come back.

Beautiful spot by the river. Plenty of shade, easy access to the water within a few hundred yards. Very peaceful environment and helpful hosts. A few sites have electricity and water which was perfect for our all electric rig. Overall a great spring weekend, highly recommend!

The campsites are all lovely. We stayed in Curley, an RV site. It was spacious and had the perfect balance of shade and sun with beautiful green exploding everywhere around us and plenty of wildflowers as well. The bathrooms were clean, and we enjoyed the ping pong and volleyball court.

Great option for family camping

This campsite is a great option for family camping. The restrooms, showers, fire pit, sink on site, and other accommodations made our stay much easier and more comfortable. The shaded table area is also a great plus for lunches and just to hang out. The kids loved the river area and played there for a couple of hours. We also liked the fact that the campsites aren't too near each other, which gives you some privacy and helps you feel more connected to nature.

The directions were clear, so remember to follow the signs for Cove Campground. However, the gentleman we encountered at the rafts wasn’t very friendly. On the bright side, the view was beautiful, and the campsite was nicely secluded from others. You park in a lot and then bring your items to the campsite; there are wagons available to help transport your gear. The water was nearby and running fast, so we dipped our toes in to enjoy it.

My Dad and I have turned this stunning location into our annual camping getaway for the past two years. While we don’t typically camp at the same grounds twice in a row, this place holds a special charm. We have absolutely fallen in love with this camp and the surrounding area. Nestled by the American River and close to Coloma, the site of California’s first gold discovery, it offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty. The private showers are a perfect touch after a day of adventure, and especially great before heading home. Kris and Paul are exceptional hosts who maintain the grounds beautifully. It was pleasant to be greeted by the host when we arrived. The spot was very clean and ready for us to get set up in. The showers and bathrooms were wonderful and well kept for a camping spot. The walk to the river is peaceful and the views are amazing.
