Rolling Hills was great! We went mid-week and were the only ones there. It was quiet and lovely. It was a little confusing at first as to where we could set up our tent because you can pretty much place it anywhere. There are tee-pees set up and weren't sure if they were occupied and didn't want to encroach in anyones space. Eventually, we set up behind the barn looking out over the hills. Note, the ground was really hard and rocky so it was a bit difficult to get the stakes in. Overall, a great stay!

Rolling Hills
Rolling Hills and Whisky Barn are one large ranch estate. On the night that we camped, there were two sets of tent campers and four or five sets renting the fixed canvas tents. I mention this because it was a little confusing from the website as to what to expect.
Overall, we loved the hosts, the location, and the experience. We went with five kids and two adults, sleeping in three tents. We set up at the edge of the ranch, near the open space. We cooked on a picnic table in the common space, which worked fine.
Our hosts were interactive, informative and welcoming. In the evening, they had a campfire in the common area for all campers, and brought out S'mores fixings for all. We would definitely go back, maybe next time with more friends!

It was an idyllic weekend with beautiful Golden hills, many of which you can explore (I'd recommend pants to ward off ticks). The camp hosts were great and are very welcoming. The rolling hills booking had the flexibility to be more adventurous and backpack out to the hills to camp or to do car camping and just unload near the farm. The sounds of horses and other wildlife was quite soothing. Highly Recommend

Beautiful ranch with plenty of areas to explore. The property is nestled in the rolling hills of the East Bay and is a great escape from the city.

This area is absolutely stunning! I've driven past these rolling hills countless times, but never thought it would have been possible to explore them since its typically private land. So glad to have been able to camp out here!

Beautiful! Enjoyed an entirely open field with long views of the (still green!) hills. As Christianna mentions, part of the adventure is picking where to put up tent -- as you can wander throughout the fields to find your spot. It was quite, peaceful, and felt like an escape. Would definitely return.

The photographs present an idyllic picture of the trench. It's a working ranch and some farm detritus around is to be expected. I wasn't quite prepared for the sheer amount of farm trash we ended up camped near.

The history behind this cabin is amazing enough, but having a chance to stay in it is awesome. The inside of the cabin is decorated with a vintage charm and has everything you might need during your stay, including a mini fridge, sink/toilet, electricity, etc. There's also a private outdoor shower on the backside of the cabin which is great for warmer days. The ranch itself is also beautiful, scattered with barns, old farm equipment and gorgeous rolling hills in the distance. Highly recommend!

Rolling Hills was perfect! We camped a bit further away, which we were shown straight to by one of the extremely helpful and friendly women on the ranch, from the main barn/house and were greeted by the cows going in to the pasture for the night. It was amazing to watch. The sunrise here is also beautiful.

The owner was very responsive to texts confirming where we could camp on this beautiful property. The ranch is amazing horses, cows and the beautiful california hills as a backdrop to the camp. Definitely recommend a tarp or pants and shoes as the grass is unforgiving. Totally worth it for the amazing quiet solitude.

We had an amazing time at Rolling Hills! The setting was absolutely beautiful, with rustic historic structures, large shade oaks, and of course rolling hills as far as the eye could see. We set up camp under some trees near the main complex which still felt remote enough to feel like a true getaway, but also close enough to the amenities of the ranch. We definitely plan to come back!

A bit different than what I expected the camping is inside the ranch. that has its pros and cons. Con (not so wild), Pro (super easy and friendly car camping for kids). We really enjoyed it

Rolling Hills
Rolling Hills was epic!! I had a group there for my 30th birthday and we had the best time. Christianna is an angel and let us roam around the ranch, pick eggs in the morning and grill by the fire. The landscape is beautiful and all the cows and horses added so much charm to our stay. I highly recommend staying here, it's so close to San Francisco, but you feel a world away. Thanks for having us!!

My boyfriend and I had a great time at Rolling Hills. Initially going through the main gate, you'll pass all of the horses. We didn't set up camp too far from the Ranch, so there was a lot of cow dung around. Where we settled did not have fresh cow dung, so it was easy to move. I loved the roaming cattle. If you venture further, you shouldn't have the same issue we had with this. Since we were able to freely roam the unsettled parts of the property, we set up our table and cooler under a bunch of trees and hung out there for the day. The dogs were able to play and roam.

This was our first time camping as a family with a 1yo. It was easy to find and set everything up, and we had a really relaxing stay. The baby enjoyed looking at the cows and horses, and we got a beautiful sunset and an easy hike.

We arrived in our campervan after dark, and loved being reassured by the welcoming signs on the property. The cows were a fun part of the stay, along with the hospitality of the host couple and their dog Alvin. Though he barked at us upon arrival in the dark (rightfully so), he was as sweet as could be! If you're into stunning views and kind folks and animals, stay here.

Beautiful rolling hills, super friendly farm owners. Short hikes up two nearby hills. Walk past the nearby cows staring at you in bewilderment, definitely a hilarious and worthwhile experience. If you sleep under the tree bring earplugs as a really loud bird wouldn't shut up in the morning. Also bring long socks/pants and shoes as the wheat in the fields will jab into your legs, not a big deal though. Pretty private and secluded. Great experience, totally worth it!

This is a beautiful spot and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. We camped out in the middle of the pasture and had a gorgeous view. The grass can be quite tall with lots of burrs, so long pants are a good idea. Also, if you have seasonal allergies of any kind, bring some meds -- it's no joke out there. But, it's so so worth it. The ranch is lovely and there's lots to see. I highly recommend it!

What an amazing place to boondock! I camped here two nights in a field that overlooked a valley filled with grazing cows. Amazing views and incredibly serene. And the camp hosts were very nice. Definitely recommended.
