We loved tent camping at the Hillside site! It was extremely quiet and private and the views were incredible. The last 20ish minutes of the drive up to the property were on a dirt/gravel road and the Hillside site was doable in a large 4WD but felt like off-roading. The pond wasn’t swimmable but fishing from the canoe they have was so fun. There is no shade at the Hillside site past mid-morning so we’d highly suggest a shade tent or umbrella of some kind. I believe they had a couple umbrellas but there wasn’t a base for one at the Hillside site. Wasps were also an issue when cooking, but that wasn’t surprising this time of year. The hosts were incredibly kind and generous. We learned so much from them and even received recommendations for local spots to visit, eat and swim. There is no spigot or hose for water, just a couple jugs available which ran out when the other family camping finished them off. They weren’t replaced for our second night there and the sink with running water didn’t work the few times we tried to do dishes, but luckily we brought our own water and had enough for the rest of the weekend. Overall, we would definitely recommend for a peaceful weekend and great place to call home for the night after exploring the surrounding towns and nature. It’s clear they put a lot of love and effort into their property and educating the community and are ironing out kinks as they continue to grow the space!

Kristin's property is pure magic! We stayed at the hillside tent site and it is one of the most magical places we've ever visited. It's clear that Kristin has cultivated an amazing place where you are invited to fully BE in nature, in complete privacy and harmony with your surroundings, with every member of your family - human or dog! To call it peaceful, rejuvenating, and inspiring is an understatement. We also loved Kristin's vision of a retreat that can be shared with local schools and to help kids learn to love the land. And our dogs had an absolute blast exploring the old Stagecoach road!
Tips: the site is pack in and pack out. If your car isn't ready to off-road, you'll have to park at the bottom and pack in approx 1/4 mile gradual uphill. The shower was hot and the water had good pressure. We can't wait to come back!

This place was pure magic! My boyfriend and I spent a weekend here for our anniversary, and it was exactly what we hoped for—serene, peaceful, and so beautiful. The host was super kind, and the little extras like organic wine and freshly picked flowers really made it feel special. There’s so much to do—pickleball, ping pong, and lots of space to wander, plus a boat to take out on the pond! Being tucked away from the city lights made it the perfect spot for stargazing, too.
If we did one thing differently, we’d get here before dark! It was a bit tricky to find in the evening, and the gravel road might be worth noting if you’re careful with your car. But overall, this place is a gem—we can’t wait to come back!

My group and I had a SUPER time at the Hill/Pondside Site. The weather and views were sublime, we got to see some beautiful White-Tailed Kites, and most importantly our dog, Trouble, had a blast exploring off leash. Despite the days starting to get cold, we especially enjoyed paddling across the pond in the rowboat and using the diving dock. Using the rope to pull the raft across the pond definitely gave us a nice arm workout. One of the co-owners of the lot (IIRC his name correctly, huge shoutout to Randy!) was there to greet us in person as we arrived to the site and gave us a bunch of helpful pointers in regard to the best spots to watch the sunrise/sunset. It was super interesting to hear about how he acquired the land in the 80s, built the pond, and how this site in particular is a popular local swimming hole during the summer! Randy also was exceedingly helpful in that he also offered us some bottled water when our group ran low.
Some minor cons: 1) The shower was a work in progress/not yet connected to the water system and the water was not potable despite being advertised as such, 2) There wasn’t an obvious dumpster to put trash away so we ended up just packing it all up in the car, and 3) It was a bit confusing to find the right spot for our reservation— having a more obvious HipCamp signpost would’ve helped. BUT!! Overall, we are looking forward to visiting again in the summer!

Stayed their twice, we loved it so much. Views. Sunrise, sunset. The most comfortable bed you'll ever sleep on. Quiet, super dog friendly. What more do you want?

We loved camping at the pondside site. So peaceful and private, it exceeded our expectations. No potable water or shower at this site currently but the pond water was perfect for a swim. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place.

What a hidden gem, the land and pond are gorgeous. Enjoyed camping here in July, even though it gets hot early. The pond is cool and refreshing. The nearest exit is Willits. I overshot the exit, thinking the ranch was further north. It isn't! You def want to exit at Willits. Hope this helps.

Amazing place to camp right next to Randy's Pond. The scenery is so idealic and peaceful. If it wasn't for the heatwave, we would have loved to hike and explore more of the area. Thank you for the memorable experience Kristin, Randy, and Adam!

Being on Kristin's tent camping environment was exactly what I needed for a Summer Solstice experience. The directions were very good and specific. Kristin sends a separate note with the directions for you to read after booking, checks on you via phone and text before the trip, helped us navigate where to best get supplies closest to the location, and provided assistance with our concerns and questions as we were traveling. Super responsive and helpful.
As for the amenities, we were thrilled with the space. The outdoor hot or cold showers were refreshing, and made the experience so luxurious.
The trip will remain so memorable--from the breathtaking views, the stillness of the space, and the connection with the natural wildlife of birds, deer and lizards.
So grateful to have been on your land. Thank you Kristin.

We camped at the pond site for 2 nights. What a serene, and beautiful place. You can swim in the pond and hike around the land! Bullfrogs were loud all night, so you may want ear plugs if that kind of thing keeps you awake. Also, best to bring your own cooking gear and potable water. We did not see a shower around the pond site, although maybe there's one on a nearby property that's accessible if needed. Hosts were kind and responsive.

OMG - the blanket of stars in the night sky are EVERYTHING! What a magical experience!
I only stayed one night at the pond. Finding the gate for the entrance was a little tricky, but Kristin was available and responsive to texts/calls.
The weather was too cold to go swimming, but I suspect it would be lovely in warmer weather. There were water lilies with beautiful lotus flowers opening and lots of sweet birds.
It was very convenient to have a flushing toilet right there, while at the same time being kind of in the middle of nowhere.
I opted to have a fresh flower bouquet and it was so worth it! It was late May and the flowers were so happy and vibrant!

This campsite was gold! It was in a beautiful spot and coming late may was perfect timing. Great location near a beautiful pond with lily pads and bullfrogs. Stunning views of the land and a bathroom patio and pond shack with pingpong. No complaints or complications. Communication with the host was great and I can't wait to go back!

Can't speak to the specific site, as it was double-booked so we didn't get to stay there. I will say that the host went the extra mile to make alternate arrangements with a neighboring property, which was an amazing spot and we were MUCH happier with that outcome, as opposed to getting a last minute cancelation. TYSM, it made for a perfect weekend!

Overall, the campsite is similar to the photos and Kristin was very nice. I offer a few notes to future campers that would have been very valuable for me to know ahead of booking:
1) It is difficult to find the campsite based on the address provided. You need to stop about 2 minutes before you get to the address and look out for a small sign with a number on it on the right side. The road to get there is narrow and not ideal for non-4WD.
2) Do not bring a dog with long fur (I think pit bulls and other short haired dogs would be fine). The entire property is full of foxtails and other dry plants (at least when we went in August/Sept) that dig themselves deep into dog fur. Our dog was on the ground walking around at our site for 10 minutes and it took nearly 3 hours to get all of the foxtails out of her fur and we had to carry her around the campsite the rest of our stay.

We loved our two nights in Redwing Ranch and we will absolutely come back. Kristin is warm, responsive, and accommodating and the hillside camping spot was a perfect fit for us, not to mention being able to see the Milky Way from the hilltop was magnificent. The small walk up to the hillside camp (our car couldn’t manage it) was worth the privacy it provided and overall we had a great experience!

You see all the great reviews? They are all real. The camping spots are just perfect, with amazing historic views of the Wild West of California. If you are looking for a place to watch the stars, this is just about perfect. We were very pleased with our stay and the clean state of the property and the cute pond. Feel the wild vastness of the place! We brought our gas grill and made some arrachera tacos and grilled corn. The hosts are super nice and down to earth. We'd love to come back in the fall, 100%.

My family's recent trip to Kristin's site was the best camping trip my family has ever had. The property is so peaceful and serene, safe and quiet, I was in awe the whole time.
When you come, make sure to walk to the top of the hill during "golden hour" - not only is the vista just incredibly gorgeous, but you'll end up with the most beautiful photos ever.
We stayed at the upper campsite and loved every minute of it. It is a hike down to the bathroom, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues. I'd also recommend bringing a wagon to carry your gear to the site from where you park. There is a grill grate on the firepit, and drinking water available. The ground also has a lot of pebbles, so a cushiony layer for your tent floor is a nice thing. Even though we had zero problems, we did see deer, coyotes, a wild turkey, and hawks at the campsite so we made sure our small dog was always on a leash. We did day trips to Fort Bragg and to some wineries in Ukiah, which were beautiful drives. We also had cell reception at the site using T-mobile.

The site has everything we needed! Fire pit, grill on top of the fire pit, picnic table, great views of sunset and stars and a more remote quiet experience. Our group of 4 stayed at the hillside campsite, it's the better of the two for view and feeling more secluded, but it is a walk to the bathroom and sink (those are downhill by the pond and pond site). Two of us drove up with a Honda civic and only the last bit to drive up to the hillside tent site was tricky with a narrow dirt road with some deep grooves to avoid but we were very careful and managed. Otherwise if you have a 2wd and low clearance and don't want to try driving up to the hillside site you can probably park at the bottom where the pond yurt and bathroom are and walk up to the site, but you may want to bring a wagon or something to wheel up your stuff unless you want a workout it's a little steep. It was a bit windy so sometimes noisy with the rain fly. Instead we loved sleeping in our tent without the rain fly and seeing the stars through the mesh of our tent. One person got a couple mosquito bites. Site is mostly under the sun so bring a shade tent if you can! Went hiking in Jackson state forest (download offline maps and look up trails you want to do in advance, there is no signal in the park) and took a dip in Mendocino lake.

I had the pleasure of staying at Kristin’s Redwing Ranch for a week and it was incredible. From before I arrived Kristin personally reached out to me and did so throughout my stay to make sure I was good or if I needed anything.
I stayed up at the Hillside spot and the views from there were breathtaking. From my tent I could see all the way to the Pacific Ocean and had pretty much a panorama view of the land and mountains. It was nice and sunny but there was often a nice coastal breeze coming through which definitely made it nice. Speaking of views, the subsets weee amazing but only come second to the cast amount of stars you can see here.
My son was with me the first day/night before I dropped him off at Camp Winnarainbow and he learned to paddle a canoe in their pond so that was really cool. Hiking around their property being on the old historic Eureka Stagecoach Road was really cool as my son just learned of the Oregon Trail expedition and made a covered wagon in school, we are from Oregon. He was also very curious of all the Geodes he was finding.
Very nice clean compostable toilet shed with sink and running water available as well as a drinking water tank but the outside shower was a huge surprise I wasn’t aware of.
I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed staying there but I guess you get the point. Getting grounded is exactly what I needed and Kristin and her husband Adam’s place provided all I could ask for.
A type of artificial shade is helpful.

The tent site up on the hill was fantastic! Great views overlooking the mountains and down to the coastline. Kristin was responsive and helpful with directions on how to get there. Bathroom was clean, there was extra cooking gear available and a sink for dishes. The walk up the hill to the top of the property had fantastic views for sunset!

What an incredible property! Walking along the old stagecoach road is magical, the views are truly stunning and it feels like you’re thrown back in time. The yurt is super cozy with woodburning heater, comfy couch and an aerobed. There even was an outdoor shower. Very friendly hosts, it was so easy to communicate. Highly recommend for some peace & quiet!

Kristin was an amazing host and showed us the lay of the land around our campsite and offering the amenities available to us. The campsite has a stellar view all the way out to the ocean. A small hike up the road and you get a view of the sierras on one side and the ocean on the other. Kristin also recommended us some great local hikes. 10/10💕

Kristins land is beautiful! Truly a magical place. Breath taking views! A hike around this majestic property is a must when you stay.
The yurt is incredibly cozy with an awesome fire place and fantastic amenities. Lots of blankets and places to sit and decompress.
Kristin and her family are also very thoughtful and gracious hosts. Kristin brought my partner and I extra blankets because it was a little chilly at night, without us even asking!
