Earn this patch by being the first to spend a night outside at a new Hipcamp.

Julian Base Camp is a rest stop for bikers and hikers. The camp is designed for visitors to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature while allowing nature to exist with limited human interference. The camp is adjacent to Cuyamaca Rancho State Park (via Kelly Ditch Trail). Alternatively, the camp may also be accessed via the Trans County Trail (TCT). The camp presently offers hot showers, soaking tubs, an above ground pool, lounge chairs, hammock, picnic table, shaded rest areas, BBQ and communal kitchen. Additionally, there are level sites which may host tents. The camp is intended as a quiet retreat. Adults 21 and over are permitted. Children, Pets and Vehicles are not currently allowed. YOU MUST ARRIVE BY BOOT OR BICYCLE. NOTE: Parking is available at nearby Lake Cuyamaca and Julian. Day visits available on a limited basis (Open Thursday to Sunday) 24 HOUR ADVANCE reservations required. NO MOTORCYCLES, CARS, RV'S. Volunteer Opportunities The camp and community as a whole depend upon the work of volunteers. Brush clearing, road maintenance, handy-man projects and home health care are some of the areas residents within Cuyamaca Woods find themselves in need of assistance. If you are able to donate your time in a substantial manner, we would be willing to discuss options to stay at the camp gratis. A junior queen bed and bench seating (no seat belts) provide for a comfortable stay out of the weather.
