Canyon Crest Campground and RV: Your Quiet Yosemite Getaway Are you looking for a rustic, off-grid, peaceful camping spot near Yosemite? Check out Canyon Crest Campground and RV in Mariposa! What it is: * 100-acre property with rustic RV/tent sites, vintage campers, and cabins for rent. * Perfect for escaping the city and enjoying nature. * Rich in Gold Rush history! Where it is: * Near Yosemite National Park (33 miles to the entrance: approx. an hour drive). * In the historic Whitlock Mining district. * Close to the Merced River Recreation Area and 12 miles to the Historic town of Mariposa. What you can do: * Explore Yosemite. * Hike and enjoy the scenery. * Relax and watch for wildlife (deer, turkeys, hawks, maybe even a bear!). Where you can stay: * 2 Tent Sites: No hookups or water, but you'll have a fire pit, privacy, and plenty of space. * Cozy Camper: Sleeps 4, has hot water, A/C, stove, fridge, toilet, and shower. * Hummingbird Camper: Sleeps 2, has hot water, A/C, stove, toilet, and shower. This site is not kid-friendly. * Cabins on the Hilltop: 2 cabins each furnished with a queen bed, electricity, and A/C. * Dry Camp Pull-Through RV: 1 RV site, no hook-ups. Beautiful, serene view, the road is easy. Pull through or back in. Fire pit. This site is set apart from the others. Important things to know: * The road to the Pull-In Dry Camp RV is gravel and easy to navigate. * The road to the remaining sites is unpaved, rocky, mountainous, and very rough. This terrain can be difficult to navigate so AWD or 4WD vehicles are recommended. Low-profile vehicles are not advised. Optional parking may be available for the hike-in. * Creeks are full in the wet season but dry up in summer. Good to know: * People who have stayed there like how quiet it is and how close it is to Yosemite. * There are other camping options nearby if Canyon Crest is booked. This site is situated on the west slope of this private mountain property, providing beautiful views and a peaceful environment for your dry camping getaway. It's a more rustic and self-sufficient form of camping by which you will rely on your resources. This site has no hook-ups and provides no water supply. Whatever you need for your comfort and enjoyment will come with you. A stone fire pit is available for use when the fire risk is low. Your Gas/propane fire pits and grills are welcome and permitted year-round. Some mature oaks provide shade to escape the heat in the hot summer months. This is the only site at this location. This site has ample space to pull through or back in. The road to this site is gravel and well-maintained. The site is easy to navigate from the main road

Experience Primitive Camping at the Miners Tailings Site #3... Get ready for a rugged, back-to-basics camping adventure with incredible mountain views! Our no-frills tent site is perfect for experienced campers who love a challenge. Located next to a historic tailings pile, this primitive site offers a unique experience under majestic oak trees. While you'll be fully immersed in nature, please note that there is a rentable camper just above your site. Be mindful of your volume if it's occupied, but if it's not, feel free to howl at the midnight moon if you wish! This is a true dry camping site with no water, tables, or restroom facilities. A simple fire pit/BBQ pit is all you'll find here. Please be prepared to pack it in, pack it out, and remove all trash when you leave. For human waste, a shovel is essential for burying it at least 6 inches deep and 200 feet from any water source. The access road to the property is on very rocky terrain. To reach the site, you'll need a vehicle with either: High clearance (like an SUV or truck) A capable AWD system, even with a normal amount of clearance (like a Subaru station wagon) Embrace the challenge, leave no trace, and enjoy the pristine beauty of this unique location.

We loved every minute of the stay. Great secluded place. RV camper has all the comforts. Generally RV’s are not suitable for big built people. This RV’s space is great. Host is kind and very helpful. This place is great for star gazing. Your car should have high clearance to reach camper place. Thank you Deedee for the great experience!!!

Do not book this site if you do not have 4 wheel drive. We drive a lifted 2500 diesel and a mission is an easy way to put it. We passed a couple whose vehicle did not make the road up. And asked if they needed help, they had to park their car by the gate that you enter the code on. .Because their vehicle did not make the road. If you want secluded. This is your spot. 40 minutes to the nearest down. That town Coulterville does not have a gas station. So prepare to drive another 10 minutes for gas. No fires allowed due to fire season. Nice view. Many bees. Not worth $263+ for the 3 nights stay. But it is what it is. I understand pack it in, pack it out, but if there is no dumpster for 40 miles..... come on, some assistance? Besides that. Nice place.

I would start by saying I would only book this site if you have 4wd or awd as the road up is a little rough. But it was perfect as a woman solo camping. I felt safe with the property being secured and it was quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view.

Cabin at the Peak
The cabin on the peak is a romantic, isolated get away ! I would recommend 4x4 cuz its at the top of a mountain! This is an adventurous destination under a blanket of stars me and my love we're blessed to enjoy for a couple nights. Thank you Debby and Richard for welcoming us on your property . 5/5

We came at night. Couldn't find the place, no signs for directions and entrance. The site doesn't fit for a motorhome. We paid for 2 nights but left at the first morning. We want our money back!!! We told Debra and she said we shall be refunded for all our money back.

We enjoyed our stay on Debra's land! We used it as a camp spot between days visiting Yosemite. It was easy to find, even in the dark, and we had our own little space with no one around us. For the price, this was a good spot to camp for a quick evening. Would recommend to anyone driving through the area and looking for a place to camp at a good price.

We loved our stay at Debra's camper! It's nice and cozy with a spacious kitchen, beautiful outdoor deck area, and comfy bedroom. It's little under an hour from Yosemite, and it was the perfect stopping point for us to rest, cook, wash up, etc. 100% would stay again!

Everything was as advertised! Road was definitely narrow and a bit steep getting to the campsite, but otherwise it was a lovely place to camp out of while exploring the area near Yosemite! Cell coverage was a bit spotty though, so make sure you write down the entry code Deb gives before you get there!

Whitlock Creek Oaks
Our visit to Whitlock Creek Oak was a lovely evening in peaceful surroundings. Our kind hosts greeted us upon our arrival, toured us around the property, and ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Thank you! During our stay, my husband and I drove-up to the rustic campsite right near the back of this peaceful property. The camping plot was well-maintained with a raised, wooden platform, a picnic table, outdoor seating/dining areas, and access to an outdoor toilet. The evening was quiet, and we slept soundly in our tent. If you’re searching for a tranquil, relaxed place to spend the night (with close access to many stellar, natural & historical attractions) Whitlock Creek Oak is a great pick. Location was good reasonably on rought to Yosemite. Seems to be a work in progress. Friendly welcome pack with info aas handy. Timber platforms provided for a smallish tent. If you've got a big tent it might be hard to find a spot without rocks. Fortunately we were the only people there as the toilet has no walls... was lovely to see a wild deer wander though the camp in the morning.

The campsite had plenty of space and perfect for commuting to Yosemite when we booked last minute. If you’re having trouble finding a place last minute, we can’t recommend this enough! The hosts were very friendly and pleasant! 10/10

Whitlock Creek Oaks
Debra was very communicative, helpful, and responsive. The site was close to both Mariposa and about an hour outside of Yosemite. I unfortunately only stayed one out of the three nights I was booked because the road down to the site was too rough for my van. If you plan on actually sleeping in the car and driving down to the site, I recommend a high clearance, 4WD vehicle (I had neither). For campers who would just simply pitch a tent on site, no problems at all there. Debra and her husband said they were going to patch up the road a bit, so just check in with them when you book.

Great Yosemite getaway option

Getting a campsite in Yosemite last minute is pretty much impossible, so camping here was a fun and convenient alternative for a spontaneous weekend getaway. The campsite is beautiful and feels private. Would definitely recommend!

It was the perfect last minute camping spot near yosemite felt like real backwood country camping despite being near houses we saw a few deer and enjoyed a peaceful seculded spot in the woods
