This is a great camping situation. In the wild next to the big city.
Nice shower, flush toilet, kitchen and lovely tent sites and campers. Not glamping but not a perfect time of camping.

i was in town (from maine) for a convention, and wanted to stay somewhere quieter and cheaper than an LA hotel. this was perfect for that, tucked away in the mountains, it felt like a really nice relaxing place to return to at night. the drive was also pretty scenic for an out-of-towner. i didn’t do much exploring of the land, but what i saw was really cool!
robin was very accommodating. im a hammock camper, so when i was planning my trip, i was calling around to different campgrounds to confirm whether they had trees i could hammock in. robin switched right over to facetime and showed me the places where i could hang, and even updating his listing so that i could be sure i was booking the right spot.
the amenities are what i would’ve expected for what i paid for. the kitchen area was MORE than i expected, but it is certainly rustic. the bathroom was a bit dirty (ants galore on the ant farm!) and incredibly tiny, with no where to set stuff down. the light also didn’t work, so i used my headlamp. the shower was the sketchiest part, it low key felt like i was gonna fall through the floor. don’t expect the ritz, and maybe avoid the shower if you can, and you’ll be fine.

Fun and eclectic spot with super friendly host. Such a great location too because you are in the forest but also quick access to the city.
Kind of wild but we stayed here and commuted to Disneyland. And it worked! Fun place :)

Robin is an exceptional host!
Right from the start he promptly communicated with me, accommodating my requests and made sure we had everything we needed.
We were really pleased with our stay here, everything we needed a mile or 2 away.
A great place to walk dogs off leash too.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the sunset terrace campsite for 4 nights and it was absolutely amazing. Robin was a great host, the views were incredible, there was a hot shower and refrigerator to use, and the location next to the 210 fwy made it so convenient to visit my family during our stay.
It was a memorable stay and I really appreciate the whole set up.

Robin is a great host, passionate about helping people connect to the land and each other. The land is beautiful, great views, wide variety of vegetation and steep rewarding trails. And the smell of the sage brush and other native plants is amazing. The tent sites are very rustic. There is one small shower (nice hot water!) and a small kitchen equipped with a mini camp stove to be shared by all. These are also rustic, with sand on the floor etc. I stayed at the "Patch of Forest" site and recommend it for quiet if your tent is nice and small.

Had a great stay at the antfarm! Robin was super helpful and friendly, and though it was a tight fit, my van fit on the van pad site. Definitely take head of the size limit though! He talked about expanding the space in the future so check with Robin to make sure your rig would fit.
Very convenient spot right off the highway for road trippers through LA. The hiking on his property was lovely.

Robin was super accommodating! I got notice of high winds one of the evenings of my stay, and he let me change to a location lower to the ground where I felt more comfortable. He also got me an extension cord to work on my laptop at one of the picnic tables that was closer to my second campsite. I admire Robin’s passion for keeping this campground a nice getaway within the city. The Sunset Terrace has absolutely stunning views! Do bring some good hiking boots though, especially for the hike back down as it can get slippery with the wrong shoes. I would highly recommend any of the campsites (I got to take a peek at most of them!).

I really enjoyed camping out at The Ant Farm! It was an amazing hidden treasure…remote feel so close to the city. I wish I could have spent more time there. Robin was great…met me when I arrived (after dark) and showed me my campsite. I hiked a bit up the hill in the morning, beautiful view!! I plan to come back.

You should definitely stay here. The air on the hillside smells of sage and winderfulness. The campsites all have good shade. The trails around are fun. The host is great!

Robin's place is only a short trip from the denser parts of LA, yet perfectly secluded. There are numerous hiking paths, some of which have great views overlooking Tujunga. Great place for anyone looking for a quick escape from LA where you can sleep amongst the trees.

A great spot to escape the buzz of the city yet be close to town. I was at Hilltop hideaways which has an incredible view and tucked back for a private space. Theres nothing quite liking camping on the top of a mountain. The hike to the camp spot is STEEP, short but steep. So just know that going in. If youve got a lot of stuff, youll be making a few trips up and down the mountain. Perfect for backpackers, not so great for those looking for a very easeful camping experience. A great hiking trail right that starts near the parking lot.

Robin was a very thoughtful, considerate host, not to mention incredibly creative. His property is well laid out and has terrific amenities. Our site (Patch of Forest) was private, but just a short walk to our car and the bathroom. This site was far beyond anything we’ve previously experienced with Hip Camp: hot shower, flush toilet, and even a kitchen set-up in case you don’t have a way to cook..
The property is fun to explore and Robin is very gracious and accommodating. We can’t recommend Ant Farm enough!

We had a lovely stay at this place. The toilets are clean and there is a small kitchenette downstairs. However, as pointed out by our host, the slope to get to the camp is steep. You must therefore be camping experts or have little equipment to assemble. The host is very friendly and gave us good advice.🙂

Robin is a phenomenal host, and the site is second-to-none for how close it is to LA.
Great views, a comfortable tent area, and within just a few minutes of grocery stores for supplies.. It would be selfish (but perhaps forgiveable) if one were to want to keep a secret.
It was a lovely experience at Sunset Terrace, I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a break from the city, and I’d love to camp there again.

Sunset Terrace
This is a perfect quick getaway from the city! Robin is a great host, super friendly and quick to respond to questions. The site itself has great views of the valley and the mountains , it makes for a beautiful sunset. Good access to trails and hiking. The amenities on site are handy. We used the kitchen for our meals. The hike up to the site is short but it is quite steep. Would recommend packing light 😆. If you forget anything grocery store and other shops are 5 min drive away.

Stayed at Robin’s Patch of Forest site and absolutely loved our time. Quiet, peaceful, and pleasant. Could not recommend higher. I have camped throughout the US and this was a delight, to be able to enjoy this within a 30 min drive of my home was unbelievable. My partner and I took our 2-year old and we all adored the experience of identifying the flora and fauna around the campsites and the beautiful setting. What a refreshing find.

Van Pad
We arrived late and Robin was quick to respond to our questions on the phone. We booked the van pad to sleep inside the back of our truck and since no one else was staying he suggested we park on the flat near the kitchen & bathroom. This worked out perfectly for us. Thank you for the stay and the flexibility.

I went solo tent camping at the van pad. I was the only hipcamper that day. Robin offered me a few spaces to stay at. I decided to stay at the lower camp sight due to the rain the day before. The land is beautiful, and a great space away. I found myself hiking on his land. I would recommend!

Robin was a very attentive and kind host. I booked the site for Van Pad but we ended up doing the small hike to the hilltop/sunset site (at Robin’s recommendation) because we were the only Hipcampers that night. Totally recommend staying at one of the sites up top! We could see the mountains and the lights of the town below. The sunset and sunrise were beautiful. I would definitely come back again!
