Welcome to the Amaya Creek Redwood Campground! We are deep in the Santa Cruz mountains and it’s rustic so be prepared! The road is all paved but it can be narrow, bumpy and steep in some areas. Be sure to follow our directions to bypass the road closure! There is no cell phone service in some areas. PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a trash service for the campground, we require all campers to PACK OUT THEIR TRASH with them! We have 40 acres of redwood forest and two creeks running through including the Amaya Creek which serves the boundary of our property at the end of Amayak Creek Trail. There’s also a small waterfall off the Amaya Creek Trail, but it may dry out during the summer. Enjoy hiking, creeks and small waterfall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more. Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 FREE hot water shower, utility shed with sink and hot water, and an outdoor amphitheater. The kitchen and washer/dryer is Staff Only not for campers. . Most campsites allow 4-6 guests maximum with 1 car included in the nightly rate. Each additional vehicle is $15 per day and will be added at checkout once you add the correct number of vehicles you will be bringing. Pets are $10 per day, 1 pet per group ONLY. Please add this as an extra at the time of booking, you will see the option to add extras once you begin the checkout process. Dogs must be on leash at all times! Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. No drugs of any kind including marijuana allowed. No loud music allowed. This is a private property so no visitors are allowed, only paid guests. Our onsite staff will go around and enforce the rules. No hookup for RV and trailer, check each site description to see if RV/trailer is ok for that site.

Toward the end of the road there is a RV, before the RV there is a small path on the left site and a sign 10, walk down the path at the end it's site 10, if you don't see the red wood picnic table, you are not at site 10 yet. If you have to bring a 2nd car, let the host know and $15/day parking fee will be charged manually. I put pink ribbon on the tree there, but at other spots too so may not be the best sign. Enjoy hiking, creeks and small water fall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing (deer, turkey, owl etc), star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more.

Such a lovely campground! I was only able to stay a night, but of what I saw it was really great. Easy to find and to drive into my site. I got to at least walk down the little trail to the creek, and it was magical. I could’ve sat at the creek for hours. I definitely recommend:)

if you want to sleep among the redwoods at any cost, book it. I was able to book 2 nights for $40 each but there’s no way I would pay $80 to stay here. Most importantly, just follow Google Maps. The host’s directions are very confusing. The roads in the campground are paved but in rough shape. I wouldn’t bring anything bigger than a camper van as the roads are very tight. I’m not sure if it were another camper or someone who works at the campground but one night someone came with a flashlight and started pointing it toward my car that I was sleeping in — which maybe to check my license plate — but as a solo traveler it spooked me a bit. The whole campground was a ghost town and probably due to its location.

I don’t think I’ve ever written a negative review, but this spot is just overpriced even with a discount. Roads are difficult to traverse — I was glad that I had 4 wheel drive, but was not glad that I was driving a Ford F150 because there are some narrow turns around the property. It is completely dark at night with no safety lighting incorporated, and it’s a hike up and down hill to use the restrooms (which don’t have any soap in them.) Signage within the campground is confusing, directions to the campgrounds take way longer than expected if you follow their directions, they don’t have any dumpsters so you have to go pack your trash out, and there’s barely any cell service so you can’t access their “map” once you get to the grounds. It seems that the neighbors have had a few campers wander onto the wrong property in confusion, as we passed a driveway with a very clear “this is not the campsite!!!” sign at the front. And I’d honestly have no issue with all of that if the prices reflected the rather inhospitable set up. This is primitive camping that is maybe worth $20 a day, though I’ve stayed on a little lake with more amenities for $10. It wasn’t worth $50 (not sure why they tack on a pet fee when they don’t provide any pet amenities), and definitely not worth the originally listed price of $90 a night (would have been $100 with a pet). Redwoods were beautiful though.

Beautiful trees surround the group site’s flat ground. But each individual campsite looked pristine, the most south ones especially. Plenty of picnic tables, bathrooms suitable, water food. There’s also 15 min hike straight down to a creek. Gorgeous spot!

I had originally booked site 1 to be closer to the restroom, but was told that someone that was currently staying there extended their stay. Jing was very prompt & kind to offer us other campsites within the area. We ended staying at Site 3 instead, which actually worked out much better in my honest opinion. It was literally right next to the hiking trail that my buddies went on. However site 3 was advertised as (Near Restroom) but it really isn't. It's a pretty long walk up and down a hill to get it. Luckily we paid for the extra car, which ended up being our vehicle to drive to the restroom. I don't think that would make me not recommend to stay at here. We made it work. Overall our stay was super nice, memories were made with friends & family. The redwoods provided so much shade and we felt cool all day. Not to mention sunset was really nice as well. We walked & drove past the group campsite and probably would plan another stay at that site next time. Thank you for the hospitality! We'll be back!

The site is very nice but there were s few problems. The first night some parked right on our camping spot at 3am in the morning. I was obviously spooked so I asked if they were lost and they told us they live in the tiny house bellow us. Not fun. Also the last night the men’s room didn’t have any toilet paper so I had be a potential creep and get some from the girls bathroom. Still recommend due to location, just my experience.

Tent camping was great! It's a rustic camping experience, and there is a paved road that is narrow. As long as you pay attention to where you are driving your car will be fine, there are some washed out sections but my large sedan had no issues. The stargazing was beautiful- the bathrooms are SPIDERY which, is normal for rustic camping but does deserve a warning. The small hike was beautiful, as was the creek that the trail goes down to. There is parking by the bathroom, which is also the parking for the "hike in" sites 7 and 11. The sites are about 10 feet and a small staircase away from the parking area. They are also close to the bathroom. If you worry about your car, I would recommend 7, 11, group camping, the yurt, or spot 4a.

Amaya Creek is an absolutely stunning, must-visit campground for anyone looking to truly for peace, feel to nature. The towering redwoods provide incredible shade and privacy, making each site feel like its own secluded forest haven. We particularly loved falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the creek running nearby—it’s the perfect antidote to city noise. The facilities were clean, well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you want a genuine, peaceful experience with excellent access to nature trails, this is the place. We left feeling completely refreshed and can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

Large Group Site, Drive In, Shade

We had a wonderful weekend here with a bunch of friends and kids. The Large group site was beautiful and close to the bathrooms. Pretty much all the sites are quite private and nice, the only thing is we didn't realize how steep the terrain was, making it quite a workout to get to the bathrooms for most of the other campers. Some of our friends commented on the abandoned-looking trailers you pass on your way in. We really appreciated having hot water and flush toilets, but unfortunately the bath house is in need of repairs and mold remediation. Par for the course in the redwoods though. We discovered one toilet just spilling water all over the floor and shut it off, tried to plunge it but the plunger was too old to work, and there was no cell service to alert the host. This is a great place to visit if you aren't looking for fancy and understand the challenges of rural living. We will probably be back, but we might bring our own plunger and some bleach next time.

Site 2 was lovely with the tree overhang. It's well positioned to the bathroom--not to far, not too close. Bathrooms were fully functional and stocked with TP. We were warned quite soon after our arrival that some other campers had been stung by wasps so tread carefully when off trail or beyond your camp site. We stayed just one night. Overall, an easy and lovely experience!

I really enjoyed getting out in this beautifully treed campground. It felt like I had the entire campground to myself and they have a nice little hiking trail. They also have different types of camping accommodations at reasonable prices. So yes I would recommend Jing's Land to all you Hipcampers.

This particular site, site 8a is not what is listed on the website. It shows it can be 10 people max, it actually can fit 4 people max with 1 tent. There is a site next to it which I guess is supposed to be listed as a group site but is not found on the website. Unless 8a is actually the group site, I got kicked out of that site because there is no signage of a group site. 8a sign is the only one for this spot. Other than that, beautiful camp ground, hot showers, stocked toilet paper, clean camp sites, and clear driving directions. I would stay here again now that I know to either reserve space 8 or group site.

Sites are hit or miss some are right next to each other and/or to the road while others are more secluded. Restrooms were ok, I think it just depends on what you expect. Quiet hours are not respected at all.

Charging $90 for this site is a robbery in my opinion. The 10A site was very small and slanted. Make sure you read directions in description (which are very well-written and clear) on how to get here. If you type in just the address to a maps app, you will not be able to get there. Overall felt pretty safe but I will not be returning.

Overall it was not a pleasant experience. Amaya Creek Redwood campsite is not as it was presented online. The signs and map are very confusing. A large group of campers took our spot #12 which is next to their spot #8. I can only assume that it’s because the map is confusing. We had to set up our camp on an open space. It was hot and uncomfortable. There was no table and no shades. Everyone who arrived to the camp for the first time go around multiple time before they could locate their campsites. Although I got a partial refund for the inconvenience, I do not recommend this campsite.

About 30 minutes from Santa Cruz Boardwalk. 1/3 of the price of a hotel room near the boardwalk. Sleeping in the woods stargazing with the family. Priceless.

Great Site with a lovely view

We had a lovely time tent camping here. The place was pretty empty when we arrived on Thursday afternoon and then got busy later Friday afternoon. Sleeping under the trees was a real treat. I will confirm that this site is not very close to the bathrooms and is also very close to other sites, but neither of those things were an issue for us personally. We are hoping to book one of the bigger sites next time and come back with family so they too can enjoy this beautiful property! As folks who live in Santa Cruz, we are happy to have found a place to escape to that is super close by and yet feels fully tucked into the woods. We did the trail walk down to the river, it was a bit steep but only about a 20-30 min walk. The path was really wide which made it easy to steer clear of poison oak. This is definelty a great spot, especially for families, but as a couple, we really enjoyed our stay-cation!

Camped at site 3, because it was labeled as flat, and it was. It was a quiet camp, and the walk to the bathroom was fine. Bathroom is minimal, I’m fine with it, I can imagine people wanting a more comfortable experience being uncomfortable with “roughness” of its set up. Better than and outhouse. The camp itself has a lot of elevation change between campsites, which adds to privacy. Was there in middle of week, so camp was generally less busy than what one might expect on the weekend. Camp was easy to find with map. Dog was with me in tent, and was up every two hours or so scanning the area, but there was never anything there. I’d go back if I’m just looking for a minimal no frills place to stay that isn’t BLM camping in the area. Worth the price.
