Bob and Cindy have a wonderful little spot that is convenient to so many things in Tucson. It’s like being in the wilderness but still having the amenities of the city. Cindy was very helpful. It’s extremely well maintained. I know some people complained about the dirt road but we did not find it that big of a deal. We hope that we get the opportunity to wander in that direction again and stay at the Wild Burro!

We loved staying at Wild Burro! Very quiet and peaceful. Quick access to 9+ miles of mountain biking or hiking in the Tortolita Perserve. 10 minute drive to grocery store and a few restaurants. As stated by other renters the road in is solid washboard, just take your time and you will be fine. The spot was easy to back into with our 30 ft 5 th wheel. If you are looking for a lovely spot with full hookups and amazing sunsets this is the place!

We loved the sense of privacy, and solitude. The site is beautifully situated with thoughtful touches everywhere. The driveway faces west looking over the preserve down to the valley below. The spectacular sunsets were an un-expected treat. Make sure to look out for the information filled e mail from Cindy. The private dirt road was suffering from some serous washboarding so we just crept our way in.

This is our favorite Hipcamp so far. The site was so clean and spacious, hook ups were perfect. We really love the desert and enjoyed the peace and quiet afforded by this special site. No other camp neighbors, Minimal vehicle traffic on the dirt road close to camp. Great communication with hosts. Thank you for sharing your beautiful land!!

This is one of the nicest hipcamps I've stayed at. It is peaceful, quiet, and very private. It was fun to walk along the path meandering around the property which is maintained in its natural lush desert state. They have added cute metal animal sculptures along the way. And there is a second picnic table off the path. The site is immaculate. They even rake the whole area including the path so there is no evidence of past visitors. It felt pristine. I did enjoy studying the ground and finding various animal footprints. They are located across the road from the Tortolita Nature Preserve with 9 miles of trail to hike and bike in. The site is also just a few miles from the Tortolita mountains and 10 mile from the Catalina mountains.

Your Own Private Sonoran Desert

Wild Burro Desert Retreat
This RV/camping spot was perfect for us. Felt secluded and private yet close to town services. It was like our own little piece of Sonoran desert. There is 1 mile of dirt road to the property and when we were there it was a bit of a washboard, so take it slow. The property borders Tortolita Preserve to the west that offers many trails for hiking, mountain biking and horses. The area its frequented just about daily by coyotes that were not afraid of our golden retriever, we kept a close watch on her and never left her off leash. The full hook ups at the site were well maintained and worked perfect. The hosts left a nice welcome box at the site for us with snacks, water and info on the area. As with any desert site be prepared for dust. We would definitely stay here again when visiting the Tucson area.

This was such a fanastic stay! It was so peaceful, beautiful, and just all around a great place to be. Bob & Cindy were so welcoming. The site was easy to find and park. It was clean. There was this cute little path I could walk around to take breaks from work during the day, and it was close to multiple trailheads with miles of trails. Definitely would come back!

Excellent spot to camp, beautiful views of the desert and mountains, overall quiet with some traffic going by on a washboardy dirt road that the neighbors need to get together and do some maintenance on. But the campsite itself is well kept and enjoyable for those who don't need the company a campground would provide, hosts were very accomidating. Would recommend this campsite

Above average hosts and spacious site for our 30 foot 5th wheel. The site was cleared and ready for us, with special details to make us feel welcome. We worked remotely during our time there. Had plenty of privacy. Close to civilization and convenience but felt like we were removed with lots of peace and quiet.

The site was spacious and well equipped with picnic tables, water, electricity, and trash.
It was peaceful and the stars at night were lovely.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wild Burro! Very private, very quiet (except for the coyotes, owls, and other assorted birds). Great access to hiking and mountain biking across Tortolito Preserve across the way. Great road cycling access to the famous Loop Trail as well. Fairly close to Saguaro National Park West & the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Communication with hosts was quick. Site was immaculate when we arrived. This one is at the top of the list for a return visit!

Still amazed that this place exists! We loved everything about this secluded spot with the best sunset views. Directions were spot on, welcome sign was adorable, and the box of handy info and snacks was so thoughtful. It is such a gift when folks share there pieces of paradise with strangers. We had a wonderful experience at Bob & Cindy’s campsite! The site is secluded but not isolated as there are neighbours around. It is down the road from a nature preserve and a first class resort. There are hiking trails close by and access to mountains. Bob and Cindy made us feel very welcome with their excellent communication and much appreciated treats and notes. We never actually met in person but they always responded to messages and live on the property (not visible from campsite). The site itself is thoughtfully set up with water, electricity, trash cans, picnic table, and a sweet little desert path. We thank Bob and Cindy for creating this fabulous oasis in the desert. It is quite special and we will return next time we are in the area. We were in a 19 ft camper van.

Wild Burro Desert Desert Retreat is away from it all but close to so much. You can certainly enjoy the peace and quite of the desert, take in a great mountain bike ride or hike a stone’s throw from your site in the Tortolita Preserve, find yourself shopping in 20 minutes or dining at the Ritz Carlton in 10 minutes. This site has it all.
My wife and I spent three nights here between Christmas & New Years and enjoyed every minute. Bob & Cathy are great hosts who communicated in advance, answered a few email questions I had and even guided me in when we arrived. Although we never saw them we knew they were there if we needed anything.

What a wonderful spot! Normally, the get this much space to yourself you need to boondock, but here you have space plus power and water. Also, it’s great to have the Tortolita Preserve within a short walk. We loved it!

We've stayed here for three years in a row and are never disappointed. The camp spot is always pristine when we arrive, and is tucked away so we feel like we have our own little bit of desert. It is quiet and private. The location is ideal, being across the road from a nature preserve. Highly recommend a stay here!
