The land was so quiet and beautiful. The sky was wide open and you could see the sunset and rise. Yes, there's a train, but its not that bad. Maybe bring some ear plugs if noise bothers you. I was able to sleeps through it most of the time. All in all it was a great experience, and it was just whatbi needed at last minute, because I needed a campsite close to the painted desert, and it was after 5 and everything was closed. I was able to go on hipcamp and pay for the site and it was done deal.

This was a nightmare! I called the host and never heard from him. No signs. Text y'all and was told it would be up to 24 hrs before a response. They stole my money. We waited for 2hrs in the middle of nowhere at 7pm on tribal land. We just needed verification we where not on prvt land. I want my money back! It is a scam that led us to noman's land. Host needs to communicate, signs need to be posted because GPS is shady in that area. We had to find another site. The worst was we had do drive back to Holcomb, 10 miles. They completely dropped the ball on this and wouldn't be surprised it was a scam. Thank you!

The location was beautiful, but the train going by and blowing the whistle every 45 minutes kept us up all night. Desolate. Beautiful skies.

The property owner gave only coordinates of the site and did not include directions. When we finally were able to find access to the spot, there were no camping spots, just a lot of barbed wire on the ground waiting to sink its barbs into our tires. We ended up camping just north of this property.
Google Maps shows that this area has a number of navigable 2-track roads. IT DOES NOT. Additionally, the owner could have mentioned that, though near Petrified Forest, one has to travel 8 miles to the west to get on I-40 to travel 8 miles east to the Park.
As an archaeologist and former hiking guide, I am used to backcountry transportation as well as giving good instructions. Perhaps Hipcamp would do well in providing guidance to people who offer their properties for camping.
The area was, indeed, beautiful. Great skies. Yes, there were trains, but they did not bother us in our RV. It was cool enough to keep our windows closed.

The property was easy to find and navigate, even after dark. We were at the right place but unsure of sites so driving the perimeter road to check things out, and Ontario met us and clarified where the boundaries of the property were, and let us know if we needed anything he was available. Super nice guy! The train is close enough to be on the loud side, but it didn’t bother us one bit. Aside from the train the property is serene. There is an electric company storage facility right next to the property with bright lights, but 2 nice hills to camp behind so no light pollution if you pick your spot well. The perimeter road/driveway is manageable with a higher clearance vehicle but if you plan to drive further into the property to be further away from the train, you will need a 4wd vehicle, because there are significant land variations including plenty of brush and a wash to clear. We didn’t stray too far from the perimeter roads since we were only staying the night to head to Petrified Forest NP early in the day the following morning. Other campers and wind had left some trash but we cleaned up around where we camped and left it better than we found it. The stars are beautiful, the location is convenient when heading to PFNP, and Ontario (the host) is super responsive and friendly. The price is wonderful too.

Just as described! There was a train, it didn’t really bother us at all, and we were pretty close to the tracks, but we love trains so it was a cool experience for us. The sky was sooooo dark, besides the occasional train there were no lights at all! The site we chose was spacious, we packed in/packed out there was some trash left by other people, we picked up some of it. Our dogs loved to run the area and we went off on a little trail. Not to mention you can literally see this spot from the Petrified Forest NP so there may or may not be cool stones at your site. 10/10 would be back and I’ve already shared the link!

I recently embarked on a tent camping trip near the Petrified Forest in Arizona, and it was nothing short of out of this world! This off-grid experience completely immersed me in nature, far from the distractions of modern life. With no artificial light for miles, the stars came alive in a way I'd never seen before. The Milky Way stretched across the sky like a glowing river of diamonds. It felt like I was standing at the edge of the universe, gazing into infinity.

"The roads are rugged, but that's part of the adventure! The remote location adds to the charm, giving you a true off-the-grid experience. Be prepared for some bumps along the way, but once you arrive, it's all worth it. There's no light pollution, so the stargazing is incredible. For only $6, this place is perfect for your tent or car camping. The peace, natural beauty, and seclusion make it the perfect escape from city life. Highly recommended!"

I’d like to recommend if you want to stay right by Petrified Forest National Park since the NP doesn't have a campground inside. The site is right on the border!
Good distance from the railway track to enjoy the sound of the whistles. We loved it.
The site is isolated and a wonderful place to enjoy the moon and star gazing.

Campsite is primitive as advertised, bit of a dirt road and as the description says a 4wd is recommended. Perfectly comfortable place to pitch a tent for the night.
However, the host fails to mention that this site is next to rail tracks that have freight trains running every 20-30 minutes and a level crossing where they blow their train horns.
Additionally the host claims there is no light pollution from a city which is technically true if you ignore the violently bright truck stop clearly visible on the horizon.

Beautiful property and great land for camping, but not accessible without a 4x4 vehicle with some clearance. The roads don’t go all the way through and we left because our car couldnt make it.
