    Welcome to Elk Island Getaway! Elk Island Getaway is located 20 minutes east of Edmonton and 7 minutes from HWY 16 main entrance of Elk Island Park, Alberta. We are also right by Elk Island Park, in addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, it is a great place for all your hiking, picnicking, biking, canoeing and kayaking needs. When you enter Elk Island National Park you will know immediately that you have entered an oasis of calm. For years people have come to the picturesque park to escape the city life, explore the outdoors and connect with nature. Come and experience the dark sky preserve in our area that features an amazing opportunity to star gaze and to view the Northern Lights. We have 8 campsites available for tent, van, small motorhome, and small trailers. Some sites accommodate large trailers. Our group site is sites 7 and 8 please inquire if interested in this option. We offer firewood for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of Tamarack wood. Please note that supply may be limited at times, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability. Pets welcome on leash and owners are responsible for clean-up. This is a camper-maintained campground. Please take your trash with you at the end of your stay. There is a toilet available for campers to use but no other amenities. Our sites offer picnic tables and firepits. Mowed paths to walk We follow Provincial and County Fire Regulations Boreal Harvest Farms is right next door with a honeyberry U pick available during part of the year.     Rustic Cabin Welcome to Elk Island Getaway! ⭐️This 12 X24 tiny cabin is ready for use. It will include a kitchen table , a futon and chair, for sleeping it will have a main bedroom with a new queen and a loft(new dbl mattress). Get away from the chaos of city living, breathe the fresh air, enjoy nature at it's best and cozy up in our primitive, rustic cabin. we offer trails on our 40 acres for walking, jogging, birdwatching and biking. No electricity allows for a true rustic experience in wilderness. We have a small furnace that uses propane installed for heat. A BBQ and propane tank will be included in the price of rental. 15L water jug with manual pump, BBQ utensils, some light reading and games. Bring your own bedding and cozy blankets plus a pair of slippers in the cold months. Access to the campground porta potty- cleaned weekly Pets will be considered if they are well trained. Fire-pit on site. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. We follow provincial and county fire regulations. Bundles of firewood for an additional price of $20 STARS!     Site 1 is our nicest site with lots of privacy a firepit on a concrete pad and a picnic table. This site has minimum 2 night rental on long weekend stays in spring and summer months. This site is directly by the trout pond which is approx 18 ft deep with steeper banks. All guest will have access to a porta potty cleaned weekly.

    Kara and Dan's camping haven is a place where one finds serenity. It is a place to recharge with nature and beautiful sceneries as the boosting agents. Been here a mumber of times already. Will keep coming back and keep recommending for sure. Kara and Dan are great hosts!

    Site 6 - Elk Island Getaway!
    We enjoyed our stay at that little campsite hosted by Kara and Dan. They were very responsive before our arrival and welcomed us with some fresh eggs (they were delicious!). Overall was the night very quiet and we got some good sleep. If you like a nice quiet place to disconnect from the world, that is your place to be. 😃

    We loved it here, the space was spacious and it was really quiet. Rather than going to elk island park for camping where we're sure there's gonna be plenty of campers, we decided to just go somewhere more 'private' we enjoyed everything. The skies were clear at that time and that makes it more special as the stars are just so bright. Thanks for Kara and Dan for accomodating us with our last minute booking. We loved it here and we're gonna be back for sure

    Not only are they delightful human beings, very friendly and welcoming but they take great pride in their beautiful land. The layout was very easy to follow with the cute signs and easily drivable. Site 9 was very spacious and clean and had wonderful access to clear starry nightskies with the Aroras out ! The bathroom they supply is very well kept, smells clean and 99% spider free lol. Lots of bird species and walking paths to explore , there were little mosquitos as well ! We had a fun surprise of cows , we thought were part of the experience/family but it was infact their neighbors cows! They get their fire wood hauled in and they bring it to your site which was new for us and really sweet. Pet friendly , just keep on leash!! There is also access to elk Island national park if you wish to visit there as well, over all I would recommend to everyone! Will be staying a lot more in the future at one of their many different sites they offer 😀 oh just be careful the wasps are very angry around this time of year!! One of our dogs picked a fight with one oops !

    Everything we expected we got. From a beautiful sunset to spectacular morning fog, we had great meals on the bbq and fire pit. We've seen some chickens, eagles, shooting stars and heard some coyotes. Being from the city a comfortable peaceful night of sleep was simply amazing (very quiet and dark curtains). Even if it rained the first night we still hung out on a patio and enjoyed the views and sounds of nature. Not one single mosquitoe came to visit. I could go on and on about it as the only thing I regret is not booking for 2 more days. ( we were also very impressed with the layout of the campsites )

    Amazing and quiet spot 👌 the hosts were so kind and it was a really great experience for my first time using Hipcamp! Sure beats the heck out of a traditional campground. There were coyotes howling after the sun set, and the most incredible stars 🌟 I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for somewhere to stay outside of the city but still close!

    We tent camped on this land, and was wonderful. Clean grounds, well maintained, and very clean port-a-potties. We were welcomed by Kara and Dan on the second day, and had pleasant conversation with them. There were other campers nearby but could barely hear them. Listening to the Coyotes howling at night was very nice. We liked it here enough that we booked again while we were still there. Close enough to the city to get there quick, or if you forget anything, but far enough away that you really feel like you are in a Park.

    This place was so beautiful, Kara and Dan were very helpful and very nice hosts and would recommend for a nice quiet destination close to the elk island national park! Nice quiet evenings under a beautiful sky 24 hours !!! The girls “pups” had an amazing time too!!! Thank you !!!

    I stayed at the number 5 treed site, it had lots of space and trees surrounding it for privacy . The campsite was well kept and had some cute little walking trails that my dog loved . We really enjoyed our stay!
