Just ok. Needs serious trail maintenance and signage. Right off hwy and gun range so car and siren noise is constant and so are super early constant gunshots.

We arrived late in the evening and the host gave us good directions. It had looked as if there were permeant campers on property, that live on site. A bit sketchy considering the upkeep of their sites was non- existent. There was a flushing toilet near buy but it was right buy a camper that didn't give the a good impression of hygiene. once we got to our site it did seem privet, which we enjoyed. No power, no running water. Ventilation was needed at the top near the roof to draw the air out would have been nice. Because it was so hot Taking a fan recommended . A tarp for the floor worked well. I didn't mind it all that much. But on the trip back from our vacation I woke my son up when we got to a hotel and he said. " Oh thank god it's this place and not the cozy cabin"

Memorial weekend family trip

We had an absolute great time!!!! Richard was quick to answer when we had an issue with the main gate. It was nice and secluded along the Styx River. We stayed a best camping spot. Even though it was partially raining off and on we were able to stay dry under our huge tarp. Watched the river rise 3 to 4 feet between Friday and Monday. Made life long friends with our neighbors. And planning trips with them to come back. My only complaint was the briars down by peddle beach camp site. We will be back to make more memories!!!!!!

Camping in the storm!

Tent camping here is amazing! Right on the river. Can fish right on the bank (caught a few catfish, fried them up and ate them to same day 😋). You can walk a few meters and play safely in the water. River runs a big quicker than expected, but I also camped during a storm with lots of rain. Beautiful scenery! Richard is awesome and communicated well! Would highly recommend, and definitely planning on coming back!

Had a great stay. Very close to the river. The small cabin was a great size for me and my one friend. The one issue we had is we didn’t have an air mattress for the floor, our mistake. Make sure you pack ours if you book. There are plenty of trees surrounding the picnic table and the campfire so you can hang up hammocks. The outhouse provided was not a for a walk at all from the cabin. Overall, had an amazing time and would book again! Great for camping

The entire area is wonderful and the cabin is small but cozy. The atmosphere is wonderful and the lack of bug bites is a huge plus. If you can live without power and enjoy your surroundings, this is a great spot. Will definitely return again soon.

Overall it was a good experience (except we didn’t stay in the cabin cause it wasn’t quite appropriate for our needs) I guess we thought there would be a little more to it and it was hard to ascertain from the photos how big the cabin was and what it included. We stayed on the property nearby and it was very secluded, near a small river and loads of wooded areas around us.

This was our 2nd stay with Richard and it was just as lovely as the 1st. Peaceful and relaxing. Quiet in the evenings, with only the sound of bats chirping. This time we saw a couple deer grazing. Will be returning any time we have a free night with clear weather!

It was pretty difficult to find the camping spot . The gate that they say is blue is actually just grey metal now to turn at , so it was confusing to find the turn , and then it was confusing to find where to park at . We had booked the pebble beach trail access and we didn’t realize it was another 8 minute walk from the car with all your camp in gear to get to your campsite on a very small trail with lots of logs to step over and mud . We ended up camping next ro other campers instead because we couldn’t carry all our stuff that far and back . The river is very pretty , but there are really only 2 good easy to get to camp sites , the rest are difficult to find and a backpacking trip to get to with all your stuff .

The spot was absolutely perfect for camping, fire pit overlooking the winding River. The little cabin was essential for our dogs so we didn’t have to worry but I’d recommend an air mattress to put down. There were people tubing by all day so not total privacy but like I said, a perfect spot to camp out and unwind. Richard was very helpful in giving instructions. If you want more privacy I would recommend renting out both the cabin and the tent spot next to it. Would go back for sure

Beautiful, peaceful getaway

This is a beautiful spot with a sandy beach and crystal-clear, cool waters. At night there is great star-gazing and fireflies in the trees. A peaceful and private getaway. Richard responds quickly to messages and is very helpful! Will definitely be returning in the future and would highly recommend for nature lovers.

River Getaway!

Perfect tent spot! Richard provided detailed directions and we found our spot easily! We had access into the river-definitely a great spot to float. We were able to pull our car right down to our tent spot which was very convenient. We felt nice and tucked away but still so close to everything. Will be back!

This place was wonderful, quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The owner Dave is awesome. He showed some pretty good setup areas and allowed me to explore the property myself to find a spot I would like. Many options to choose from I might add. Homer is the cutest and sweetest dog I've ever met. He hung out with me around my sight for a good portion of Saturday and that night was the perfect guard dog, he lazed around outside my tent for most of the night. A family looking to get out, but not miles into the woods, I would recommend Heart Of The Country a million times over. Not far from groceries and supplies either!

Showed up and nothing like the pics, we left and I drove an additional 90 miles to another Hipcamp which was wonderful. Spent an additional 200 due to poor place. I do not recommend

This is my second time staying here. I love it. This time I stayed at the tiny cabin and last time I stayed at a tent site. It is beautiful, isolated, and easy to access. The host is an excellent communicator. I’ll be back!

My boys headed out for their first camping trip together! They absolutely loved the spot , to the extent that they were having so much fun they completely checked out and forgot to even check in with us. They fished and enjoyed it so much they are so excited to go back!
