We have 4.4 acres of land on a spring fed lake. (Even though it is spring fed the water is warm for swimming.) We are located between Trout Creek and Port Loring on Hwy 522. We have 3 vintage trailers, each with a slightly different experience. Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing. We also have a 4 person paddle boat. Bring water shoes if you have them. The water edge is in it's natural state. The trailers come fully equipped. You need only bring food, bedding and 1 pound propane tanks to use the small barbeque. Our property is off the electric grid. The trailers have fridges and stoves powered by propane and the lights are powered by battery recharged with solar panels. We do not at this time have running water and the toilets are clean outhouses - not stinky and disgusting. We have a couple of small docks and you can fish right from the dock. If you are a bird lover you will enjoy watching the blue heron and hearing the loons and frogs sing at night. This property often experiences spectacular sun sets. We have fire pits, books and board games.

Welcome to Restoule! We have 60 acres of very private camping. Our land is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. We have loads of trails and a 2500ft canal that leads to Commanda lake. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals. The site is well maintained and the forest is quiet and beautiful. Guests can enjoy hiking, biking, wildlife watching, and so much more! Our property is family and pet friendly, designed specifically for those who really enjoy camping without 1500 neighbors and a fun o'clock switch. I live on the canal trail half way to the lake. The campsite is on the opposite side of the property.

Cranberry Camp is located 7 kms past the village of Pointe au Baril. It’s surrounded by Ontario native forest (the “bush”) and wetlands in the hinterlands of Georgian Bay. We love to share this beautiful part of the world with visitors! We are 3kms from Sturgeon bay Provincial Park (a nice beach!) and 3kms from the Bayfield Inlet public launch on Georgian Bay (visit the iconic pink rocks and windswept trees of Georgian Bay). We came to this area because of the fresh air and clean water. Visitors to the area should be aware that you cannot see any of the Georgian Bay coastline from the highway or roads. We highly recommend you get out on the water in a boat of some kind (there is water access near here for canoes, kayaks and other boats). We also recommend that visitors go to the French River Provincial Park to understand the unique history and culture of the area. That park is 35-40 min north from here and has a lovely small museum/interpretive centre and a footbridge over the French River. This secondary highway (ON 529) is fairly quiet and decent for cycling. It's very quiet north of the ON 529A turn-off! Cranberry Camp also has a small house, a guest lodge for retreats (we host healthy living and healthy building workshops), 2 lovely and private recreational vehicles (a 24’ Jayco and a 27’ Cougar) as well as a tiny home. All spaces are scent-free, low VOC and no WiFi. We help people create healthy homes and buildings. Hipcamp sites are accessed from hard-packed dirt/gravel driveway either perpendicular or parallel to the road. An outhouse contains a composting toilet (using the Humanure system), a solar light and jug of water for handwashing. We love to host people getting away from the city or taking exploratory road trips.

Grundy Lake Provincial Park camping guide

Overview

About

In the upper Georgian Bay area, it’s easy to overlook Grundy Lake because it sits inland, just off the Trans-Canada Highway. But it’s a real gem, with beautiful inland lakes that offer opportunities for fishing, canoeing, swimming, and just hanging out on the beach. In addition to the park’s nine campgrounds, there are canoe-in backcountry sites that can be reached without portaging—perfect for beginners and families. More adventurous paddlers can find more solitude in the park’s interior, while hikers will find both accessible strolls and more challenging (but so worth it) trails.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for beach bums: Poplar Campground is located beside the largest of the park’s six swimming beaches.
  • Best for sunsets: Balsam Campground is off the beaten path and offers sunset views over Clear Lake.
  • Best for solitude: Pakeshkag Lake has several backcountry campsites accessible by canoe only, with three portages (650 metres, 105 metres, and 95 metres) required.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Both campground and backcountry campsites can be booked online or by phone through Ontario Parks.
  2. You can book up to five months before your visit. For long weekends and summer holidays (July-August), spots fill up early.
  3. Camping is available from mid-May through mid-October. Visiting in spring or fall will give you a better chance of getting the campsite you want.
  4. At the Trailer Campground, all campsites are pull-through electrical sites.
  5. With so many lakes in the park, there are a lot of waterfront campsites. If your preferred site is unavailable, try some of the other lakefronts. There are 10 paddle-in backcountry campsites on four lakes.

When to go

Grundy Lake opens in mid-May, but black flies keep a lot of campers away for the first couple of weeks. If you’re planning to spend your time on the water, you can enjoy the park before it gets busy and only need to worry about bugs when you return to camp. Fall colours come earlier to Grundy Lake than some of the parks farther south. If you want to enjoy the changing landscape, think about visiting in late September or early October.

Know before you go

  • Grundy Lake has four barrier-free campsites, all of which can accommodate RVs and have electrical hookups.
  • Apart from Swan Lake and a couple of other small lakes, fishing is permitted (in season and with a license) in the park. However, no motorized boats are allowed. Anglers can fish for northern pike, bass, panfish, walleye, and crappie.
  • You can get to Grundy Lake without a car using the Parkbus service from Toronto.
  • There are dog exercise areas located near the Balsam, White Spruce, and Hemlock campgrounds.
