Secluded land, all the trees helped to keep the wind out of the tent. Slept amazing & woke up to a beautiful open field across the way.

This was my 4th time at the Edge and no less lovely than the other 3 times. I ended up back at the cabin, but would happily stay at any of the tent sites on Edward's property. Can hardly wait to return next spring!

Third Time is Still A Charm!

Third time at The Edge charming rustic cabin since earlier this summer. It was wonderful to see the seasonal differences of the surrounding corn and soy bean fields over the months. Other than the host Edward stopping by on the day of arrival to show me the ropes of the wood stove, my dog and I had complete solitude for four nights. Like my last two visits, I hit the weather jackpot with sunny breezy days near 65-70 degrees and mild nights. Hard to imagine tiring of this sweet place. Edward has been timely in responding to all my questions and for those who aren't familiar with the general area, everything you can imagine for your camping/cabin/food needs are about 10 minutes away (Fleet Farm, Menards, various fast and slow food restaurants, etc.).

Great Family Camping Getaway

We camped in a tent on site 1 and had a great time! We did hear a few planes, but it was well worth it! The site was flat and close to the bathroom (which was really nice and stocked). Edward was kind both in communication through the app and in person. There was a great view of sprawling fields and beautiful stars. We took our four young children and it was so nice to have it close to Rochester, yet feel so removed to really enjoy some family time. Our kids had the quintessential camping experience they've been longing for months. I would highly recommend coming to The Edge!

Great Quiet Spot Amid Corn Fields

The Edge was a great place... lots of private space. Spots are close, however, there are so many trees and brush that you can't really see others. Nice open areas, corn fields, port-a-pottie type restroom. Dogs loved being off leash. Easy to find. Only downside was the airport near by. A lot of private planes flew the night I was there.

Rustic Cabin in Lovely Setting

This was my second trip to the cabin at The Edge; it will likely not be my last. This is one of my favorite places to visit! First, a few things to consider: The entire property has no electric or potable water. The ceiling lights inside the cabin are VERY dim, so bring good supplemental light. The exterior light over the door is also VERY low light. The lovely hanging garden lights around the parameter of the site are lovely but dim solar lights. Second, bring something to use for curtains. There are four windows in total; I use a cut up light weight canvas painter's cloth cut into quarters and they work really well! I tie them back during the daytime for added light. Third, this cabin in RUSTIC, in that there are well-used (not fresh) sheets on the beds and is quite dusty. I bring my own fitted sheet and blankets/pillows. Some folks might like to use a sleeping bag instead. Fourth - there was recent rain and lots of mud; one family using a tent site got stuck - they were driving a van rig and pulling a car - ultimately, they had to call a pro towing service and it ate up a couple of hours of their day and a few hundred $. I imagine this can be remedied by contacting the owner first to hear about conditions. This is a beautiful little area that I cherish. There is airplane and car noise, but I was easily able to block it out and enjoy the birds. On the edge of a wooded area and up-close-and-personal to acres of corn and soybean fields. I can hardly wait to return.

This is a really cool Hipcamp with several sites and a cabin. I was only here for one night but it was a quiet stay despite being near an airport. I'm an aviation fan so I didn't mind that, at all. You can tell that the host really cares that you have a good experience.

This little cabin was the cutest and coziest little thing. Perfect for a small group. There are three beds (full size), not two, and the cabin was clean. The out house was, an out house. Stinky but not unbearable. I'd put a candle in there and prop the door open while you use it to allow air flow. The site was private since there were no other campers, otherwise they would have been in close quarters. The only downfall id say is that it took 3 hours for the host to respond to our messages and calls upon arrival. This led to us worried we may not get in the cabin and so we drove into town to get a tent. We got a cabin code from hipcamp, not the host, via email, 2 hours after we first reached out. We were just getting settled in when the host responded and he was defensive and short with me because he was "busy." Not impressed by that. So the property was great but customer service sucked.

Ed was very accommodating and responded to all communication promptly. The weather was not on our side this weekend (it rained a good chuckle of the time), but the shelter was nice to use for cooking and getting a break from the elements. Unfortunately our 5th wheel got stuck because of the wet conditions and Ed allowed us to leave it until the ground dried. The group area had a nice breeze and plenty of seating. Nice place and we would definitely stay there again.

Great place. Good location. Beautiful grounds. Limited parking options, made it difficult for our uhaul and trailer. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, and the lights didn't work.

A Quiet Place to Relax

Host Edward always answered my questions very promptly. The property is a patch of wooded area surrounded by corn fields. It was beautiful! The small cabin is located at the edge of the wooded area and the front porch faces the corn fields. I did hear traffic in the distance and a few airplanes every day; the sounds did not bother me at all. Lots of birds to listen to and watch! The cabin is quite cute on the exterior and basic and rustic on the inside; no electrical or water, although there is a main outhouse and I think a non-potable water source; I had self-contained equipment and supplies so can't speak to either. There is a wood burning stove that I did not need to use because I was plenty warm at night. The windows (4) do not have window coverings and I knew this in advance, so just brought cloth and pins to take care of that. I originally booked two nights and loved the experience so much, I was able to stay a third night (and will be returning for four nights in the fall!) If you like rustic, you will likely love staying at Edward's place! PS while I stayed in the cabin and also no one else on the property, I got to peek at the camp sites as well. I would definitely be delighted to tent camp on any one of the sites; a couple were quite spacious and all had sturdy fire pits.

Solitude and sunshine

I loved the solitude at the edge. Highway and airport sounds aside it was very peacefulm. The stars were beautiful and enjoyed the wildlife. Sites are just as described and the concrete slab, AstroTurf tent pad and saw were nice additions to the site. I had a great time and will be back.

The campsite is great, a little grassy hill overlooking a field that the sun rises over. It was relatively easy to find and the trails and amenities there were sufficient, except for the outhouse and the handwashing water, which reeked of manure and did not help clean anything. If you're prepared with your own handwashing station this spot will be great.

Super barebones but that's what makes it so great! Nothing in the cabin but essentials. Looks to be very kid friendly as well. Multiple play areas and a tree-to-tree zipline. The firepit isn't too far away, but there's also a communal firepit halfway between the outhouse and cabin. Outhouse lights weren't working when we were there but it was plenty clean for an outhouse. One gripe about the actual cabin, no curtains/shades. This makes the cabin pretty open, but don't expect much privacy during your stay. We ended up hanging a couple blankets that we had. Arguably, the most comfortable cabin bet we've slept on though!

What a treat. Didn't see a human being all weekend. Perfect weather and The Edge has everything you need. I can't wait to come back. Jack the Dog and I had the most relaxing weekend. Loved the walking paths. Sunrises and sunsets can't be beat. Host was incredibly accommodating.

The Edge is a very well kept campground, secluded, quiet, nice area for walking, outdoor games and play area for children, clean outhouses with nonpurified water at central location, many campfire sites, owner responsive to your needs or questions and makes an appearance to work onsite. Site #1 is perfect for a camper or RV. I highly recommend booking a site for your family enjoyment or like us just perfect for 2 and a fur baby! We are here on business and enjoying the outdoors for relaxation!

Y'all...this place is GREAT! We had the whole site to ourselves which might have helped but we loved it all. Great location from the cities. Not having to bring wood for our fires was great. Very private (again, we had the whole place to ourselves, not just this site). Super easy in and out options with a vehicle. There's a lean-to which is great for rain (we had 2 of 3 days with rain). We also booked the cabin and that's very comfortable with chairs available if needed, plenty of sleeping space (a single and a double with a single bunk), and a small table. We booked the cabin in the event of rain but even though it rained, we just used it as a great place to store our food etc. There are two zip lines - the kids and adults liked those. Plenty of room to roam. GREAT view!! Will definitely come back! And, would recommend renting out more than one site so you can have a little privacy!

Disappointing experience

We got to the site and were unable to position our 30ft camper on the site due to tight quarters. We had to back out of the property on a poorly maintained inclined gravel road. Not a good experience. Contacted owner to inform him of our situation. He mentioned that we could camp anywhere on his property because there were no other campers there during this time. We looked but could not find any acceptable site. We were fortunate to find a place to camp elsewhere. Proprietor said he would check into a refund, but we have yet to see it.

I had a great time at The Edge. It was just the peaceful retreat I needed. There were barely any bugs, there was plenty of fire wood to gather, and all the solitude I could hope for. There were only two other campers there renting the cabin and I loved the privacy. The airplanes were loud, but I read the reviews so I brought some ear plugs - problem solved. A grate over the fire pit would have been helpful but I managed just fine with my cast iron Dutch oven. I will definitely be back!
