The idea of Shasta Valley came to us through years of traveling in developing countries and falling in love with communal living and camping culture. We are excited to build our dream and share it with you! We currently run this campground at a loss. Between the cost of maintenance and building out the infrastructures, we spend more than we make. Thank you for camping with us and helping us maintain and expand what we have to offer to our beloved camping community. Learn more about this land: We are nestled between cave run lake and the north entrance of Red River Gorge off the beaten path. Enjoy 20 Acres of private forest, creeks, waterfalls, and a giant open hill top great for larger groups. We have hilltop car camping and tent camping on a 3 acre field surrounded by forest. Bring your tents, van, overlanders and small campers (pulled with a 4wd) to Shasta Valley! Hiking: 1.5 Miles to Sheltowee Trace Trail 6 Minutes to Broke Leg Fall 10 Minute to Devils Market House Arch 20 Minutes to Jump Rock, Indian Staircase, Gladie Welcome Center and all the other highlights of the north side of the gorge!

Camp On Top Of A Waterfall

This is your super rare chance to camp on top of a waterfall! There is nothing like falling asleep under the trees listening to the sound of water meandering over the rocks. There are 2 flat campsites on either side of the creek just above a beautiful waterfall. One camping spot will fit a four man tent and the other spot can fit any size as it’s a large flat area. please note, you have to cross the creek to get to the bigger tent spot. There is a fire ring on both sides so you can take your pick. It’s about a 5 minute hike from where you park your car to the site. This site includes both tent spots for 2 tents and up to 6 people. We would prefer no children under 12 at this site due to the extremely dangerous drop offs. Please note, this site is about a 15 minute walk from the amenities offered at our main campground.

The Pinnacle is the highest point on our property! its only accessibile by 4 wheel drive. its a great spot for an overlander. There's also a tent spot in the woods. Guests will have access to the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. The outhouse has a camping shower bag hanging off the backside. bring water to fill for showering. The kitchen has a BBQ grill that has a propane single burner. Pots and pans are provided for cooking. Site 2 Equinox

this site gets the name Equinox because on one side of the fire pit there's a nice flat tent area in the shade and on the other side, a lovely meadow area behind the pond. It's got the best of both worlds! all sites share use of the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. This is a great site for a small camper trailer or overlander! This is a cute, private spot under a walnut tree just behind the pond. Best for 1 or 2 tents or an overlander. The area under and around the tree is slightly sloped. A camper van might work but no camper trailers. Guests will have access to the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. The outhouse has a camping shower bag hanging off the backside. bring water to fill for showering. The kitchen has a BBQ grill that has a propane single burner. This is the largest of our camping sites and can accommodate larger groups since it's out in the open. It's a great spot for several tents, a camper van, overlander or camper trailers. It's also the closest site to the large group fire pit and outdoor kitchen. Site 4 and 5 are great to rent together for larger groups. If you are interested in renting out the whole campground, let's chat! Guests will have access to the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. Site 4 The Olive Bush

The Olive Bush is a great site if you want to be in the middle of it all. It's right next to the outhouse and communal kitchen. To keep the other campsites a bit more private, we prefer this site to be booked in tandem with either the "Lil Shasta Camper" or "Under The Oak Tree" since its close to both of those spots. This site has very level ground and can easily accommodate 3 tents, an overlander, a small RV/van, or a small camper trailer. it's a very flat spot. Guests will have access to the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. The outhouse has a camping shower bag hanging off the backside. bring water to fill for showering. The kitchen has a BBQ grill that has a propane single burner. Pots and pans are provided for cooking. Site 6 Poquito Campo

Poquito Campo is our smallest camp site. It's tucked away in the woods at a slightly lower elevation than the other sites. It's definitely a great spot to stay cool in the heat of the summer. There's an 8 foot level circle for smaller tents. Guests will have access to the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. The outhouse has a camping shower bag hanging off the backside. bring water to fill for showering. The kitchen has a BBQ grill that has a propane single burner. Pots and pans are provided for cooking. We ask that you clean everything after each use to keep things clean and ready for the next guest. Lil Shasta Camper

Lil Shasta is a 1964 Shasta vintage camper set up and ready for your next adventure! She sits tucked into the hilltop of Shasta Valley camp grounds. Shasta Valley is our private 20 acres of land that we have opened up 4 sites including this little Camper to guest who want a more intimate camping experience off the beaten track. We are 15 minutes north of the northern entrance to Red River Gorge and 15 minutes south of Cave Run Lake! There are two benches that can be slept on as is or pulled together to make a full bed. There are battery operated lights inside and solar lights outside. For safety we don’t activate the propane stove inside the camper but you will find everything you need for cooking in the community kitchen including pots and pans, silverware, grill, single burner stove, and dishes. Please bring your own sleeping bag, blankets, and pillows. Newly added outhouse with hand washing station and primitive solar bag shower ( bring water) Our little camper is shaded by trees until about 11am but please keep in mind temperatures over 85 degrees during sleeping hours may be too hot to sleep. In the winter there is a small propane heater. Bring your own small cans of propane! Each small canister provides 5.5 hrs of heat so plan accordingly. There’s is currently no electricity or running water connected to the camper. There are plenty of solar lights to provide light and ambience in the evening Guests will have access to the communal kitchen, outhouse, and picnic table. The outhouse has a camping shower bag hanging off the backside. bring water to fill for showering. The kitchen has a BBQ grill that has a propane single burner. Pots and pans are provided for cooking. We ask that you clean everything after each use to keep things clean and ready for the next guest. We just got back from our stay here and we just absolutely adored this spot and we’re sad to go home after such a great trip. For reference we originally booked the small spot by the pond. This spot goes straight up a hill from the driveway and we got stuck a few times trying to get up there. The spot was ok. It was on a big incline which made it hard to sleep and had a lot of bugs. After our second night we asked to move to the larger spot by the communal space and the host was amazing and let us move. Now for all the positive things. The communal kitchen area was SO cute and helpful to have access to a proper table for meals. The bathroom was so cute and we were excited to see that there was toilet paper and hand sanitizer. We really loved the attention to detail with the communal spaces and the trail, you could tell that they really put their hearts into this space. The spot at the top by the communal kitchen has a great big open space which was perfect for our dog to run and have the best time. We loved star gazing out in the open as there weren’t many trees blocking the sky. And there was plenty of shade provided by the big tree during the sunniest part of the day. We can’t wait to book our next stay here and share it with our friends and family!

We loved our camping experience here. We were the only campers, so had the communal “kitchen/dining platform”, fire pit with lounging chairs and outhouse to ourselves. What a bonus to have the covered outdoor platform to sit and eat and relax with a book. Nice solar powered lights around the structures. We saw some twilight fireflies, had clear views of the sky and heard lovely evening bird and bug sounds. Wasn’t too far to go to the Red River Gorge scenic drive.

Excellent set of campsites. My friends and I stayed during a long weekend of near continuous rain, so we found the cooking pavilion to be an absolute godsend. Restroom facilities are also above par for most primitive campsites. Host was communicative and quickly responded to inquiries. We would definitely camp here again!

We had and great time camping here. We ended up having the whole campsite to ourselves , which made it that much more enjoyable. The outdoor kitchen was super convenient and the outhouse was clean. They even had incense for you to burn while you're in there. 30 min from red river gorge with a convenient store just 5 min away. The roads were very fun to ride on (we had motorcycles) with lots of twists and turns. If we ever come back to this area I'd definitely book with Samantha again!

Great big flat area with really neat covered eating area and very clean outhouse. Very convient to Gorge related activities. There is road noise but you cannot see the road at all. Nice hike on property. Would visit again.

Shasta valley was amazing! Such a great little secluded spot, close to some wonderful hiking destinations. The little trail on site is a nice 10 minute walk to the top of the waterfall. The composting toilet is a great accommodation. Samantha's communication was great and it was a wonderful experience!

We loved bringing our teardrop trailer to this beautiful private property! We are new to the area and this was the perfect spot for our family. We felt so safe and comfortable and had everything we needed! Our camper did wonderful by the pond! We did hiking every day at red River Gorge and it was so nice coming back to this nice private spot (spot by the pond). We did this trip in March so even though the nights were chilly we did just fine and everyone was sad to leave! Thank you guys for such a great experience and for sharing your property with us!

This campsite was amazing, and Sam is a wonderful host. Even in the early spring this place is an oasis. Our campsite was tucked in the trees, and the outdoor kitchen was the cutest. It was perfect campsite for watching the eclipse and star gazing. 1000% would recommend stoping here if you can.

Great open space, good trails, and easy directions. Close to the road but fine to have animals off leash. With the light in the outhouse worked but very clean. We had 2 dogs and 3 cats, yes camping cats, that had a great time! Small group of coyotes at night and some cows to fall asleep to.

We enjoyed our stay at Shasta Valley! The campsite was well taken care of and had one of the best outhouses I've been in. The trail was a wonderful bonus for the trip. The location is was 10-25 minutes from just about everything we wanted to do. It was a little over 20 minutes to Natural Bridge. The only downside was the road noise. We tent camped so we were a little more sensitive to it. It's not a deal breaker, but it was enough to wake us. We would definitely stay again!

Very nice campsite. Close enough to RRG. Enjoyed the farm animal sounds in the distance and the beautiful view of the stars at night. Cars from the road were louder than anticipated, but nothing terrible. Do not recommend driving a sedan to the campsite as your car may bottom out a few times like mine did.

A wonderful secluded spot, close enough to great hikes and adventure in the RRG area. It was awesome to let our pups explore and be behind a locked gate for privacy. In the summer, definitely bring bug spray! The road is close by, but the sound of the bugs at night drown out any cars (we didn’t really think about bug noise being so so loud!). Usually cooler weather and northern campers. The outhouse is such a luxury while tent camping and is kept impeccably clean, definitely makes paying for a campsite 10000% worth it!

This place is tucked away behind a locked gate. The listing stated flat ground however site 2 is a hill. We use a RTT on our jeep so this would be difficult to get level. Our host was kind enough to allow us to set up on top of the hill near a tree for more level ground due to no other campers present. We did have a wasp issue with the out house and our host was notified. Since we arrived a little late in the evening we didn't explore the waterfall or trails. Samantha was responsive to our concerns and stayed in contact with us.

The campsite was everything that it was described to be. With access to the property being behind a locked gate there was a higher sense of safety and seclusion, although we were still able hear the highway noise. The foliage was overgrown and restrictive along the access road and the grass was knee deep at the camp site but I guess that’s what you get camping early in the season. Overall, a good experience. For the price, there are many other dispersed camping options in the area with comparable amenities, we settled here because of it’s proximity to our destination.

Amazing. How to find the place could be better. Google link they sent finally got me there. Had to unlock and go thru a gate which I loved. It was dark and no one else was there so I found a spot and made myself at home for the night When the sun came up I explored. What an amazing little corner of heaven. Never left the property for 3 days, no need to. NOTE: The outhouse is Amazing!

It’s very private, but also a beautiful spot. There’s a little traffic noise, but it’s not too bad. It’s a perfect site to Boondock for a couple of days or longer even. There is a charming new outhouse on the property, which will save you having to fix up a toilet station. The leaves this time of year are magnificent. You’re also not a far drive from Fredericksburg, so anything you need is available there.

We stayed at Shady Grove. It was very quiet as there was no one else there. You did hear some noise from street, but nothing too terrible. Our site had two chairs, a fire pit, and plenty of space for our tent. The location was nice and close to plenty of trail heads in RRG. Didn’t make it past the barn to see the waterfalls, but the trail to it was nice. Would stay here again.

Great private hilltop spot on north side of RRG. We camped at largest of the 3 sites and it was plenty large enough for 2 groups and a few tents. There are thoughtful touches everywhere- a super easy place to unwind and a great base camp for exploring the area.

Unfortunately the tree by the pond was full of walnuts that kept falling on us, and there was an overabundance of wolf spiders that ended up making it so we left earlier than intended. It was a beautiful spot with lots of potential, but I wish we had been warned about the spiders and the walnuts, or that the site had been cleared a bit more.

We spent a nice evening here alone as the other two sites were empty. There was a nice fire ring, and the outhouse was a definite plus, clean and well stocked. I wanted a dark site for telescope viewing, and this worked pretty well; the only lights are some solar string lights that outline the outhouse and a small tree, and Samantha said they could be turned off if necessary (it wasn’t). There are no horizon views, but I could sight Polaris and the Milky Way was visible. The site felt secure and peaceful; the only down side was road noise from the highway at the bottom of the hill, but that was not a problem later in the evening. Samantha was a great host, thank you for sharing your place!
