If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with a few close friends or your family, this option is for you. Tucked in along the South Fork of the American River, this beautiful campsite features picnic benches, a propane fire pit with propane included (fire pits help prevent wildfires), and a prep table for fixing up those tasty fireside meals in group sites. Guests also have access to shared bathroom facilities (and yes, there are showers!), volleyball, ping pong, communal benches, a sink and dishwashing station, and a common swimming area along the river. Most sites are within a very short walking distance to the banks of the South Fork of the American River, this place is ideal for anyone interested in experiencing the beauty of the foothills and the rush of the river. We offer both tent and RV sites. Each RV site includes its own picnic table, water and 30Amp power hookups. Guests will also have access to our volleyball court, ping pong, communal benches, and a common area with a sink and dishwashing station. Additionally, you can access the swim area and go for a dip to cool off on a hot day. We offer toilets, showers, trash disposal, potable water and more depending on the site you chose. Leashed pets 40 pounds or less are allowed as well. River access is only a couple hundred feet from the site. Tucked in along the South Fork of the American River, this beautiful campsite features picnic benches, a propane fire pit with propane included (fire pits help prevent wildfires), and a canopy to keep you cool on those hot days. Please bring you're own propane grill as one is not provided (charcoal not allowed). This site is very private and close to the river so please use caution with young kids. Parking for this site is about 100 yards away so a hand cart is provided for bring gear down to campsite.  Guests also have access to shared bathroom facilities (and yes, there are showers!), volleyball, ping pong, communal benches, a  communal sink and dishwashing station, and a common swimming area along the river. Our second stay at this Hipcamp. Easy to get to from Bay Area. Easy parking. Carts provided for unloading. Communication with the host is great. They are super friendly. We have stayed at Canopy site both times we visited . Site has its own sink. It is crazy hot here in the summer, but this site has shade ALL DAY! There are lots of amenities a little bit away from our site that sound great (BBQ I think, showers) but we never used them. Added a half day raft trip with OARS rafting co. Will definitely be back. *Only word of warning is that the river moves FAST. To chill on a tube you really have to bring rope and tie it off to something. Little kiddos could definitely be pulled down the river if you are not right with them.

Perfect Camping for River Trips

Everyone absolutely loved staying at this camp site. I was leading a private C2G river trip of about 11 souls and the Hilltop campsite was perfect. The extra large canopy protected us from the blazing sun, having multiple picnic benches made eating and food prep a breeze, being able to do dishes and hand washing right there was so helpful, and there were plenty of flat tent spots right there. Bathroom, parking, and the river were all a convenient distance. And best of all, we were able to take out at the campsite's shore which was a blessing after 6+ hours on the water. The staff were super helpful, trash and bathrooms were always very clean, and the responsiveness from the owner when I had some questions was excellent. I'd never stayed here before so I took a real chance with the success of my river trip, but I could not be happier. Overall this was a great find and I'll definitely consider coming back to this campsite for future trips. Thanks!!

Oak Tent Site
We had a great time at this campsite! We were a group of 21 and had reserved both Oak & Hilltop sites. The oak site is so nice. Flat and great amount of shade. The flush toilets and showers are a bit far but thankfully there are two porta potties right next to the site for middle of the night bathroom trips. The river was fantastic because we visited on what felt like the hottest weekend of the year. It really helped out that the site’s trash was picked up daily and that they actually recycle! Would recommend earplugs if you’re a light sleeper because the local geese like to “sing” at night. Overall, great stay and would recommend to all!

We had a great time and made lots of memories. We booked the River and Canopy sites because they were the closest to the beach. There was plenty of shade in both which made the 100+ degree weather not feel as hot. There were a few things that were not ideal for us. First, because we are unable to drive to the site, there was quite a trek up to the River site. It is also uphill and they only had one cart. So we definitely got a workout going up and down the hill. Second, the toilet and showers are a little bit of a hike from the River and Canpoy sites. They do have portapotties next to the Canopy site which were very clean, but those were still far from the River site. It's especially difficult with small children if they need to go in the middle of the night. There was also no running water in the River site. We expected no running water there but didn't know the sink was as far as it was. Lastly, the beach was very small. In 100+ degree weather, we expected to see people there. The two closest sites are group sites so there was about 40-50 people sharing the space. It was a little overwhelming. Although it was small, we made the best of it and became friends with the other families there. Our kids played with their kids, and we shared conversation, jokes, food and drinks. When it was lunchtime, every family went around and shared their food with everyone else. That experience made it all worth it!

The photos you see in the ad vs what you get is very different. If you want to hang out with a ton of college aged kids partying on the river and there's no room for you at all because they are all camping along it, then have fun! The campsite is nowhere near water as it looks on the front page of the ad, they charged me $80 to change my reservation by one day within 24 hours of making the initial reservation and we ended up leaving the second night and staying at another nearby place that was much better. Overpriced and misleading for sure!!!

Our camping trip on Kris’s land was perfect. The river access was easy with a lovely little beach to rest. The facilities were sparkling clean and well appointed and Kris was responsive to our needs. We will definitely be back.

The site we had was a nice size, easy to get our big RV into and have a tent and car parked with plenty of space still for chairs and other things. The water was close, but there wasn't a very big beach and it got crowded during the day. The river is fast moving and although my kids and I can all swim we wore life jackets the whole time. It was fun to watch the river rafters come through during the day. The river level fluctuates a lot from morning to mid-day, which I didn't realize. It made the small shore area even smaller. The camp hosts were responsive, we had an issue with our propane fire pit and they came out and looked at it in a timely manner. It was nice and quiet at night, our sites were spaced far enough that we didn't really hear anyone after dark.

We really enjoyed our trip to Rock Water Cove. Our campsite, Curley, was very spacious with flush toilets and showers nearby. Kris and her husband welcomed us soon after we arrived and chatted with us daily. Our favorite area was the cove and we relaxed watching the white-water rafters paddle by.

Great location with a short walk to the river. Site was big enough for our 39 foot toy hauler. Showers/bathrooms are close. Hosts are fantastic and very friendly and helpful. We went to Troublemakers for a late lunch one of the days and it was fantastic. We also took our tubes up the road a couple miles and floated back to camp. I would definitely camp here again.

We had a wonderful time visiting RockNWater Cove. The campground is beautiful, super clean and spacious. The river beach is amazing with crystal clear refreshing water. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked. It was quiet and peaceful. I absolutely recommend this place. The only thing I want to point out is, if you are planning to bring your dogs be aware that by the river, near the bushes, there are a very poisonous mushrooms called The Death Angel. This mushroom it pertains to this region, it’s nothing against the camping grounds or the owners. Please keep your pups on a leach and watch the closely for their safety. Other than that, enjoy! This place is amazing!

It was so peaceful & quiet. The river was about a 7 minute walk away from our campsite and so beautiful. We have never camped at a campground with so many amenities: showers, actual bathrooms, propane fire pits for roasting marshmallows or just enjoying a campfire (wood campfires are not allowed in many areas due to the high risk of wildfires). Host was very quick to answer questions we had before we arrived!

Perfect spot for our tent trailer with the best swimming hole! My boys absolutely loved it and we had it pretty much to ourselves the two days we were there. Close enough to Auburn to spend the evening out but also has the feel of being in the middle of nowhere. Great property.

A wonderful riverside site for the hot summer days. One can spend the entire afternoon chilling by the communal beach area and just watch the rafters and kayakers go by. The hosts, Kris & Paul, are very responsive to communications and proactive in coming by to make sure things are ok. Things to be aware of: * The riverside site is next to the communal beach area, so it will get noisy and lots of sound traffic depending on how respectful the other campers are. * Don't overpack for the riverside site b/c it's the furthest away from parking and there is only one pull wagon to be shared. * Depending on who you're sharing the porta potties with at riverside site, it might be clean or it might not be very clean at all. During my stay, I had to trek further to the flush toilets area.

This was my first time camping. It was great location. The couple that run the place were so kind and so much help. The bathroom were very clean and so were the showers. Such a great experience I will be back

Beautiful campground! Very clean! Clean restrooms and showers! Great communal prep and dish washing station. Lots of seating areas in the communal area. Kris was awesome! Great host! Very quiet and tranquil! Loved this campground!!!

RockNWater Cove Camp is amazing! River access is perfect for swimming and functions great as a stopping point for a river float. Campsites are beautiful with lots of amenities. The owners are very kind as well!

Wonderful camp ground. Spread out, quiet, and great amenities. Nice river access to. Also a very responsive host. We were a group of rafters and were able to put in at the campsite. That allowed us to skip the flat section and drop into the gorge. Might stay there again soon
