The land spans 115 acres of mixed oak woodlands with a seasonal creek running through it. Formerly an alternative school, the property features several unique buildings, including two indoor sleeping spaces (with a combination of single and bunk beds), a fully functional kitchen, and two full bathrooms. Guests can stay indoors or camp and will enjoy hiking to the upper meadow, dipping in the creek, and soaking in the peace and quiet.

This beautiful camping area is right next to a (seasonal) creek. A short walk away are two full bathrooms (one with bathtub), as well as a communal living room and full kitchen, with industrial stove and refrigeration space. Tent and car camping are usually both available, although occasionally during the rainy season the ground is too soft to drive on. While visiting Mariposa, enjoy the 15-30 minute walk up the road or through the wooded path that brings you to an open meadow. It is also possible to drive up to the meadow.

This is our most remote camping area. It is located in a lovely, open meadow, with some beautiful great Oak trees and a fire pit (available during rainy seasons only.) You can still access our amenities (communal kitchen, bathrooms etc), but you will either need to drive or walk the 15 minutes down the driveway.

Yurt with the wood burning stove

Mariposa Institute is the land of unwinding and relaxing with some bohemian sprinkled in. I had the luxury of staying at the Yurt with the puppers. It's a beautiful wooden cabin yurt with carpet, big windows and a fire burning stove to heat the yurt. The yurt is better suited for group activities or stays such as yoga or meditative classes than solo stay. But, with the big open sunroom to watch the stars at night without worrying about getting eaten by mosquitoes, im in. I also booked it for the wood stoved as I miss having camp fires, so this is a fine substitute. Also, it got really cold at night and the wood stove provided lots of heat to stay warm. Wood are already provided to you. The facilities such as restrooms, showers and kitchen are shared. And there's a variety of overnight stays to choose from. Everyone I've met during my trip were such kind spirited, open minded and gentle. Despite being stranger to one another, i also felt safe. There's a river behind the living areas and a small field to play in; perfect for catch, ride the swings, have pinics or do an outdoor session. Multiple sun decks to use and relax on. Wifi and cell service isn't strong here but you shouldnt come here to be on your phone or laptop anyways. Disconnect and relax here if you want a get away.

A fun, historic and refreshing experience. I would recommend this place just for the people but the area and room are worth the visit
