This camping experience takes place on a 200+ year old farm. We currently offer multiple camping options, most of which are only accessible by either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles.  The first location (along the main road) is solely for RVs or travel trailers (TT). The other camping locations are for tent camping, and much smaller/narrower and rugged RV/TT with a 4-wheel drive towing vehicle. Daniel and Cherith Kennedy purchased this 164-acre farm in 2014, and Daniel's parents, Brent Rita Kennedy, purchased the 1800's era farmhouse from Daniel and Cherith a couple years later. Together, we have transformed this farm back into a working farm with hay fields, cattle, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens and any other critters we buy or rescue. We are currently rehabilitating the 1700's era one room schoolhouse at the front corner of our land as well. This farm is full of memories, hard work, and is absolutely stunning. Your hosts on-site are Brent and Rita Kennedy, and they are famous for spoiling our guests rotten. They can give you tours of the farm, some in-season eggs and veggies as they have available, and even throw in some petting opportunities. They love having visitors and are sure to make your trip memorable. Plus, the fireflies at night can be beautiful!  Plus, we've yet to see a mosquito!  You will be the only camper on the property, my RV is on site and is used as  guest quarters when I have company, but this is rare. There is no cell phone coverage and limited strength wifi, so unplug and relax!  The Camping Site is part of our mountainside property located in Long Hollow and sits on the edge of 7 acres of pasture, which leads to 7 acres of White Pine Forest you are welcome to use for walking, wildlife viewing, dog walking, etc.. It is conveniently located less than 2/10s a mile from Rt. 16, and 5 miles from I-81. Our neighbors are quiet but you may hear their donkey braying or chickens clucking. We really enjoyed relaxing in this beautiful pull through spot. There is no cell service, so it was easy to unplug, unwind and just enjoy the cool mountain breeze and bird song. One of our favorite memories will be evenings around the fire watching lightning bugs and listening to the whip-poor-will. There are also walking paths up through the White pines and along the property. Tracy met us and helped us get set up and was so kind. This is a gem of a spot and host!

We stayed here for 3 weeks starting in mid October and absolutely loved it! The property is beautiful especially in the fall. The trails through his property were great for hikes. Tracy is a phenomenal host and very friendly. He greeted us and helped us get set up very easily and quickly. We felt like we had a lot of privacy even with his house nearby and neighbors across the street. The property is beautiful especially in the fall and we loved hiking his trails. It was an awesome location with downtown Marion very close, Grayson Highlands State Park (wild ponies!), as well as Mt. Rogers and White Top Mtn (2 highest peaks in VA), Abingdon (cute town), and plenty of waterfall hikes nearby - we checked out Big Tumbling Creek Falls and Comer Creek Falls. Such a gorgeous area!! AND THE STARS! Also I worked remotely and starlink connection was excellent for daily zoom calls. Tracy can provide wifi if you need to use his but we didnt. Can't beat the price with full hookups. I can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back when we're in the area! Many thanks to Tracy!

Hats off to Tracy, what a place! He has power, water, sewer, and WIFI (not strong but usable), a fire ring, wood, and a liquid fire starter! He waited for us to arrive to explain and help set up the RV. He had cut a trail in the pines and up the mountain. If you are not used to climbing, it is quite steep, but it is worth doing it; it is so calm around the pines, and the smell is gorgeous. A tiny, calm place to return, surely, oh, and the neighbors' donkey is a real character... You can make a cute fire and check on him!!

Weekend Trip to Refugio Entre Pinos

Full hook ups, fire pit, picnic table. Not far from Hungry Mother State Park, beach, swimming , bike trails, hiking trails, canoe and paddle boats, picnic pavilions. Food store, fuel nearby, hardware store w/propane. Host was great!

3 nights at Rainbow Campground

We loved our camping experience at Rainbow Campground! It all began with a warm welcome from owners, Kevin and Christie, at check in. It was a busy fishing week at Big Tumbling Creek, and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to return to this beautiful area!
