Bird sounds prevail over boat noise -- which only occurs during busy season and during the day. At night, you will drift asleep to peaceful nature noises. Lucky Otter is a haven for campers, climbers, and lake folk alike. Rest at camp or venture off to the crags (very close to the Meadow and the Lake) or nearby hiking trails. We are just minutes from Battle Run Boat Launch, Gauley River put-in, and Summersville Dam. Drive just a mere 5 minutes and explore or picnic at Carnifex Ferry State Park -- they have the best panoramic river view! Check out Ample Pizza and Freefolk Brewery -- just a quick 12 minute drive -- and halfway to the National Park! We are a quick trip to the New River Gorge National Park (about 15 miles) and just a twenty minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. Explore Fayette Station where you can find a river front beach, waterfalls, and hiking trails. We offer the perfect spot to relax with your friends or family. Pups are totally welcome -- they must be leashed. Please note that the steep sloping hill past the two adirondack chairs at the bottom of camp that goes down to the lake is NOT our property but the Army Corps. Our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area where we have 4 tiny houses in total**. All are self contained and on grid with full electric & water. **No children under age 10 and not pet friendly**WE CLOSE THEM DOWN FOR THE WINTER FROM OCT 22, 2023 to MAY 1, 2024*** We are located exactly 2 & 1/2 miles north of the New River Gorge Bridge which is the edge of town of Fayetteville. We are close to the location that Airbnb put us, but due to West Virginia addressing it is the closest we could show on their map. Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking about location, the tiny houses, activities, or anything!! ** No children under age of 10 and all tiny houses are not pet friendly** We love the location being 2 minutes from the New river and close to all national parks. The Gorge is an awesome site and we hope others enjoy are area as much as we do. Close to white water rafting and rock climbing areas too. Guests have access to the parking lot and the yards in back of the cabins. Feel free to bring a frisbie! Also have free access to free washing machines and dryers on the property as well. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be very cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. The first floor approximately 126 square feet including the bathroom. The second floor loft is approx. 80 square feet. Our water is city water on tap. ALSO, there are 4 of the tiny houses on that part of the campground. EVERY tiny house has it's own picnic table and fire ring. You will never share anything with any other tiny house guest. This is like the new tiny house hotels! All 4 of them are listed on Airbnb. Ask us for the Airbnb links to the others! Built just last year, our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. There’s a steep, narrow ladder into the open loft, which has a small railing, and doorways are narrow at 24 inches wide.** We have 4 tiny houses in total. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area***. All of our tiny houses are completely self contained and on grid with full electricity and running water. ***Please note*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. ***IN THE EARLY SPRING AND AGAIN IN THE FALL UNTIL END OF OCTOBER**There is a space heater and also a wall heater. Please note that these may not warm up to 80 degrees or more*** ***PLEASE NOTE****The couch on the first floor has 3 sections that are stacked and are made out of a regular 8 " memory foam , full size bed mattress. The mattress was cut into 3 sections and each section covered. This can sleep 2 people but please note it is a full size mattress, not a queen size. The 3 sections lay next to each other & become a regular full size mattress on the floor. *****The fitted sheet included in the bedding will keep all the pieces put tightly together side by side*** Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking if you are unsure. There is a regular home mattress that is queen size in the loft as well. Both are very thick memory foam, regular bed mattresses with all pillows and bed linens provided. The bedding for the first floor bed will be laid out on the couch when you come in. There is a folding card table and 2 metal folding chairs in the tiny house. The full bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink. We include towels, toilet paper, and hand soap. Usually the towel sets are underneath the bathroom sinks. You will have access to the laundry building where washers and dryers are free to use. Kitchenette has a kitchen sink with running water, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a hot plate. We include a Mr Coffee type coffee maker, filters, coffee and styrofoam coffee cups. We have one pot, one pan (which are specific to the hot plate), paper plates, paper bowls, plastic ware -knives, forks, and spoons, & plastic cups. We also provide liquid dish soap and paper towels. There is a television but no satellite, cable or local stations. Feel free to bring your own DVD player, games, etc. and cords. We do not supply cords for your devices. **Please Note** There is NO wifi. The entire New River Gorge area does not have a good service provider yet. Cell service in our area is usually very good for most carriers, as we are high up and off the main highway. Your cellular hot spot should work very well. Outside the tiny house, there is a picnic table and fire ring that you’re able to use to cook and push aside the grate later to sit around a fire. Firewood is for sale for $5 per bundle if you call the phone # on the door. They will deliver it in a short period of time. You may want to bring lawn chairs as I do not supply them. Also any outdoor cooking utensils would be good to bring as well. Love playing games? This is the place for you! More than enough space outside to play bags, horses, washers, frisbee, soccer, kickball...you name it! Ask me about our space! There is plenty of parking to include trailers and toys. Our tiny houses are along the side on the inside of a campground. Feel free to have a friend camp outside the tiny house. We have no parking rules, feel free to park right by your tiny house. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. There’s a steep, narrow ladder into the open loft, which has a small railing, and doorways are narrow at 24 inches wide.** We clean and sanitize your space according to Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol that was developed Internationally with EcoLab. Here are a few highlights: We sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob. We use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and the cleaning team wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination. We clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists. If you would like extra cleaning supplies, please call us, do not message or email. We also comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines. Please ask us any questions you may have. We have also own 7 cabins on one property about 2 miles north of the tiny houses. Our intention is for the tiny house to be affordable and work with your schedule. I have discovered a screenhouse is a great way to camp-a way to be in the elements but out of them. Presenting a 10x12 rustic screenhouse located near everything you want to do! Inside the "cabin" you will find a full sized bed, table and two chairs, and a countertop for preparing meals. Outside you will find a biolite stove and star gazing chairs. I provide filtered water, dishes, a single burner stove, coffee grinder and kettle, french press and an air/foam mattress and an electric generator. You bring your bedding and toiletries. Your own private shower and toilet are just a short walk in the main house. Walking distance to the New River Gorge Visitors Center and Bridge, Endless Wall and trails are just a mile away. The cabins are primitive, no electric or water. There are solar lights inside and and out also a propane wall heater for chilly nights. This is comfortable camping in the Beautiful Mountains of WV. The property is over 100 acres in Greenbrier county WV. There is a lot of history in this area. There are tons of wildlife on the property as well. We are pet friendly with a one time $40 pet fee, ask about a possible multiple pet price. Maximum of 2 dogs. We have 4 cabins like this in an L shape. We also have 3 other 4 person - one story cabins on this same property. Great for groups or family get togethers! Please see the picture in our photos of these 2 story cabins. They are all separated from each other and have their own personal area to the right side of each cabin. Each of the 8 person cabins has 2 twin beds in a common area on the first floor, and 6 twin beds upstairs. The pictures show that the twin beds can be pushed together and made into a king, or can be separate and put in an L shape to make more room. 1st floor: 14 X 20 2nd floor: 20 X 20 The beds have regular home mattresses on a wooden bed. These are NOT cots. The second floor is not a loft. ******All the beds are in one room. There are not separate bedrooms upstairs.****** There is a kitchenette area with a two-burner electric stove top built in, microwave, coffee maker, and a kitchen-size refrigerator/freezer. We supply: 2 small pots, 1 small fry pan, plastic silverware, paper plates, bowls, cups, paper towels, dish soap, coffee cups, can of coffee, coffee filters, dish soap, utensils ******but you may want to bring your own We are located exactly 4 miles (4 minutes) north of the New River Gorge Bridge which is the edge of town of Fayetteville. Our location is right off of Route 19, one mile south of Route 60. We are close to the location that Airbnb put us, but due to West Virginia addressing it is the closest we could show on their map. ***** We are located in the heart of all activities - rafting , ziplines, etc, national parks and state parks. We are located 4 minutes north of the New River Gorge climbing area.*****

Weekend Trip to Hilltop Sunrise Camping and RV Site

The bunkie cabin at Hilltop Sunrise has genuinely been one of my favorite places I’ve stayed. The bunkie was homey and had all the necessities for our stay. It was the perfect mix of camping and comfort. Our host, John, was beyond kind, gave great recommendations for the area, and answered any questions we had promptly. I am already thinking of my next trip to WV and will absolutely stay at Hilltop Sunrise again!

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat

Lynn's Shady Retreat was a perfect getaway for my partner and I. It was easy access to toilets and showers. The outdoor sink was an excellent touch. We loved waking up to the sights and sounds of birds. The biolite stove was incredibly easy to use. Lynn was very helpful and accommodating. We were a quick and easy drive to all activities I had planned. We would highly recommend this site and would love to one day come back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, and the cabins were spotless. The bathrooms and showers were even better than my own home! This place has made it to my top list of favorite destinations. The trail was short but still provided a great experience. I’ll definitely be returning!

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat

Lynn is the kind of host who makes you feel like a guest at a friend's home rather than a stranger's campsite. When an unexpected situation arose on my end, she responded quickly & went out of her way to find a solution. She even gifted me with some treasures from her property! Shady Retreat is the cutest, most adorable secret spot & you can literally FEEL the love Lynn has put into it. Highly recommend!

Everything was excellent!! Lynn had everything I needed and more for my stay. The location was beautiful and secluded and right next to the visitors center. Lynn had endless recommendations as to what to do in the area. If I ever come back to the area I will definitely stay there again. Also bonus! The floors of the site were squishy and felt great after a day of hiking.

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat

I had a wonderful spring break camping trip at Shady Retreat with my daughter. The campsite was well-stocked with plenty of firewood, which made evenings by the fire especially enjoyable and stress-free. There was also plenty of great camping equipment available to use, including very comfortable chairs for sitting and lounging by the fire. The outdoor sink for washing dishes was a really convenient touch and made camp life much easier. Lynn was an exceptional host—she gave us plenty of privacy to relax and enjoy nature, while still being available whenever we had questions. Her recommendations for local hikes, scenic drives, and restaurants really helped us make the most of our trip. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located, which made the overall experience even more comfortable. Overall, this was a peaceful, family-friendly getaway, and we would definitely recommend Shady Retreat to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

Weekend Trip to Olde Tyme Cabins

The location was perfect! We felt secluded in our little camp and were able to hike up the hillside nearby. We loved the campfire with the lights strung around, and there were roasting sticks in one of the RV cubbies. The hot tub was amazing. We did get rained out of the hot tub, since there is no awning over it, but once the rain stopped, we were able to enjoy again. The master bed was comfortable, and the bunk beds have a curtain to keep lights out for later sleepers. We camped in mid-November and stayed warm and cozy the whole time. Our only complaint was the water. It never quite worked well enough to shower, and washing dishes was frustrating. We did let our hosts know, and they came quickly to work on it, which helped for a short while, but didn't last the duration.

Awesome little place even if it's snowing. Snow on the ground and the little rocket stove was great because we had no heat in the vehicle! Beautiful stream and the bathroom facilities are always a bonus even if outdoors. Everything was clean and inviting. The host was very responsive and had lots of ready to burn wood for sale.

I'll just get these 2 negative things out of the way so someone else doesn't stay and give a bad review. Because it doesn't deserve a bad review, The place is Amazing, However if you're a light sleeper then a windy Autumn stay probably isn't for you because the leaves land on and slide down the roof and sides and its rather loud. Also something randomly flaps around on the roof in high winds making alota noise, The bed is super cozy, The place is very private and is just a relaxing environment to be in. Me and my Dog would stay again (Not in the Autumn 🤣)

We stayed at Papa's place cabin. It was simple but clean and the campground office space was nice to watch a show or make some food. We only stayed one night but it worked well for us! The cabin had one outlet for a light and a fan and a heater which was nice heating it up a little in October. 🙂
