Meadowcroft is a semi-primitive cabin on the bank of the beautiful Meadow River. Swim, fish, and hang out with the river otters. It's like camping, but with a roof over your head, WiFi, A/C in the summer, and a cozy wood stove in the winter. A large lawn with fire ring fronts a long section of lazy river (perfect for paddleboarding, tubing, canoeing, etc.), with worldclass whitewater beginning about a mile downstream. Premium bouldering is two miles away, Meadow sport climbing 10 min., Summersville Lake 15 min., and all other NRG-area climbing and National Park within a 25-min radius. Like Camping, But a Cabin The cabin is a lovingly souped-up Amish-built shed. Like camping, you bring your own sleeping gear and most of your cooking gear, and you pack everything out and tidy up after yourself. ***Please take all trash with you when you leave. THERE IS A $100 CHARGE FOR TRASH LEFT BEHIND*** This is a self-cleaning cabin, which means *you clean up after yourself to prepare for the next guest* (not that it cleans itself, unfortunately). This keeps the costs down for all the guests. Up to two dogs are allowed for an extra fee of $40 (for your whole stay). This option is available as an Extra that you need to add when booking. Highly recommend! This cabin is perfect. Not only is it beautiful, but it is clean and fully stocked with anything you might need. The wood burning stove keeps it incredibly warm and cozy in the winter. The property surrounding the cabin is beyond beautiful! There are hiking trails and a stream that can be heard from the cabin's porch. The site is very private and quiet. I also can't say enough good things about the host Craig! Incredibly nice, quick to respond, and willing to whatever to make your trip perfect. I can't wait to go back!!!

Awesome little place even if it's snowing. Snow on the ground and the little rocket stove was great because we had no heat in the vehicle! Beautiful stream and the bathroom facilities are always a bonus even if outdoors. Everything was clean and inviting. The host was very responsive and had lots of ready to burn wood for sale.

Fantastic! Despite some of the drawbacks others have noted, my now fiance and I had a great time! I booked this cabin because of the incredible privacy, and mainly to propose in Hocking Hills! (She said yes 😎) Craig was a very nice host and made sure the cabin was well stocked. Despite no running water it had everything you could think to need, and overall you can tell the cabin was built with safety/comfort in mind. We will definitely be staying here again! Thanks Craig!

Craig’s Cabin was awesome, it is a bit of a hike in but to be only 5 minutes from a shore and 12 minutes from town while being surrounded completely by nature with no neighbors to mind is wonderful. If you want nature with peace and quite Craig has done an amazing job! The cabin is comfortable and cozy with plenty of room, everything you need and nothing you don’t. Last but not least… Holy crap Craig is amazing! Friendly, responsive, helpful, and a very down to earth host that makes you feel welcome!

Nice little cabin on the rivers edge. Not hard to find, and despite the steep driveway my little car did just fine. Close to the New River Gorge National Park (all the visitor centers were within an hour drive) which was our main focus for our visit so that was perfect.

Great spot on the Meadow River. It was myself, my mom and kids. The kids slept outside in tents and me, mom and my niece slept inside the little cabin. There was plenty of room for us in there and the added bonus of AC was really nice! Fridge and microwave came in handy too. We were prepared for roughing it but were happy to not really have to do it all the way! Porta potty was very clean and not that bad.

We had such a great stay at this peaceful off-grid cabin in the woods. It was quiet, relaxing, and the perfect place to unplug. Our dog loved roaming around and exploring—definitely pet-friendly! Craig was a fantastic host and made sure we had all the info we needed before arrival. Just a heads-up: bring bug spray! We’re already planning our next trip back.

I loved the cozy cabin feel! It had a fire pit and grill which was perfect for making food :) There's a wood stove/heater inside to keep you warm on cooler nights. Recommend wearing hiking boots as getting to the cabin is a little bit of a trek. 5/5 would visit again.
