Green Mantis Farm

Green Mantis Farm is a small family farm on a hillside meadow with picturesque scenes of pastures, valleys, forests and mountains. We raise predominantly Border Leicester sheep on 40-acres of grass pasture using organic, sustainable methods. On our farm we also raise chickens and geese for eggs and meat. Vegetables crops are for ourselves aside from large porcelain garlic bulbs for seed. Sustainability is important to us. The farm is completely solar powered. Water comes from our well and heating is from wood sourced locally.

Forest Hideaway

This is my piece of heaven on Earth. This is also a work in progress. A cabin will be added later on along with a travel trailer to offer for rent. With no cell service on the property it offers a great way to unplug and unwind. This is also a family oriented site.Learn more about this land:This is 20 acres of heavy forested site at about 4,000ft elevation. It offers mountainous train with some flat areas. The Colville National Forest is at the back of the property with 2 lakes about 1/4 of a mile away. Winter time snowmobiling. Most likely have to snowmobile into site in winter.  There is a horse corral on site. This is a dry site or self contained. Please carry in carry out. ATVs are welcome. Mountain climbing in the area. The town is about 16 miles away. Experienced campers with fire arms is recommended. This site is in the heart of bear country. If you are new to backwoods camping or are not experienced with fire arms please do not be discouraged. We are on site and armed. We will provide armed escort at the campers request.

The homestead is situated at  3800-4000 feet in elevation in the midst of the Okanogan Highlands.  The historic Bunch Barn, completed in 1928, used in the 40s for loose hay in the loft and livestock on the ground floor is a central feature of the homestead.  The land was ideal for settlers of the time due to abundant spring water and fertile soils.  Now a guest ranch with some cattle occasionally grazing and our herd of Icelandic horses, an ideal place to enjoy the rolling beauty of the Highlands, teeming with many varieties of birds.

Learn more about this land:I welcome you to my 400 acres of alpine meadow and trails galore, where you can wake up to mountain and valley views. Located outside the town of Grand Forks just north of the US border, my property was once historic farmland but now offers six camping sites that hold up to six people each.Enjoy the shared fire pit and outdoor kitchen, watch for bluebirds or visit nearby sights such as Boothman's Oxbow Provincial Park and Christina Lake.RVs and trailers are welcome, as we have electrical and water connections, as well as a sewage dump available. Generators are not allowed. The pull-through space can accommodate up to 20 feet in length. Firewood can be purchased during booking, and we also rent out a barbecue with propane. Potable water and a portable toilet are also available.  For outdoor recreation, head east to find Boothman’s Oxbow Provincial Park, which offers kayaking, fishing, hiking, and picnicking along the Kettle River. Or go a bit further to Christina Lake for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, boating, hiking, and more. In the other direction, Boundary Creek Provincial Park is a great spot for trout fishing and biking. If you’re interested in local history and culture, check out Boundary Museum & Interpretive Centre or the Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum.
