Camping Off The Grid -Barbour Farms

2 sites · RVs, Tents80 acres · Woodlawn, TN
Barbour Farms Camp sets on the hallowed grounds of the historic Ol' Ledford Farm. Our Great-Great grandparents, Jim and Mary Ledford, purchased this farm in the early 1870s. At an additional cost you may request a guided tour of: "A Day in the Life of Jim & Mary Ledford." See were the historic Montgomery Co. Griffey School once set on property. View Jim and Mary's Ol' house seat and drink from the artesian spring where they got their water in the 1870's. Jim and Mary were quite industrious, along with their seven children. Picture their mule drawn wagon, sawmill, sorghum mill, and grist mill. Once upon a time, their family provided these services and many others to the community. Go to The Ol' Ledford Farm aka Barbour Farms on Facebook to learn more, and don't forget to follow us. So, totally unplug and enjoy a rustic back-country experience. All campers are encouraged to follow Leave No Trace principles.

FeatherStone Farm

1 site · Lodging13 acres · Mayfield, KY
After 4 years of living in a large house in the middle of town we decided try tiny living! We sold our house and bought and remodeled a 5th wheel camper and lived in the country with Emily's parents. During this time land down the road came up for sale and we decided this would be our perfect forever home! We realized we loved the tiny life so we renovated one section of the barn as our studio apartment and the rest is either shared with the sheep or used as the location for our barn market! The original tobacco section of the barn is estimated to be around 75-100 years old. Emily and her family have lived on this road for more than 70 years so we have lots of stories about this area! The farm also has what we call "The Tiny Cottage" located here. It's a small shoppe that is filled with hand made and USA made products we keep stocked year round. The trails on the farm were made by Jordan. He carefully mapped out each one to require as little disturbance to the trees as possible and he did it all with a rake and weedeater! We love our home and sharing it with others just makes it more fun living here! We work hard to take care of the land and animals we share it with. If you have any questions always feel free to ask! Otherwise we will do our best to let you have your privacy while you stay here.Learn more about this land:Enjoy a glamping experience on our 13 acre farm. You can wonder the trails etched through the fields and woods. Enjoy the stars from the comfort of the 16ft wide and 10.5 ft tall Star Gazer Lotus Bell Tent decorated in mid century furniture. Have a campfire or watch a movie projected on the inside of the tent. You can also meet our “farmily” that consists of ponies, sheep, chickens and a few other fur babies running around! They are friendly and full of personality! We also have a monthly market in the barn with a select few artisan vendors with a range of handcrafted goods. Come experience this quaint little place that we call FeatherStone Farm.*A few things to note: - We have barn markets and the occasional pop up at our farm. If you want to book your stay around these events feel free to message us. - There is no shower at the campsite. The site has a private porta-potty that is serviced weekly and a hand washing station outside. We provide a wash basin in the tent and water bottles are kept in the mini fridge. - Be prepared to walk to your campsite. In some seasons it may be possible to drive your car to the fenced area of the tent but usually the hay field is too grown up to do that. We provide a lantern at the tent but it's always a good idea to keep a spare handy in case you are coming or going after dark. -The bell tent has access to electric and we keep a mini fridge, snacks, a coffee maker, French press and even a mini waffle maker there for your convenience as well as a cast iron skillet and grill to go over the campfire for outdoor cooking.   - While the fence is for your privacy please remember this site is at our home. Dogs running around, sheep grazing, and occasionally chickens free ranging should be expected. -We do have poison ivy on the property so be aware when going on the trails or if you decide to go off the paths in the field or woods. The tent has two heating options: electric space heater and Mr. Buddy propane heater. Mr. Buddy Propane heater MUST be turned OFF when sleeping as well as the propane tank its self. NEVER run the propane heater when sleeping. The heater does have safety features and there is a carbon monoxide detector and proper ventilation, but you can never be too cautious with gas heaters. Thank you!

Camping in Lake Washington with wifi provided guide

Overview

The second-largest natural lake in the state, Lake Washington is a beloved recreation area among Seattle-area residents and visitors, particularly in the summer months. Fishing is an incredibly popular activity on the lake, with a variety of salmon and bass, as well as resident coastal cutthroat trout. (An annual freshwater license is required.) That said, you needn’t be an angler to enjoy the lake, and there are plenty of great parks and natural areas with beaches, ideal for swimming, kayaking, or simply gazing out over the waters on your next lakeside camping trip.

Where to go

Seward Park

If you're in Seattle, sprawling Seward Park is among the best places to enjoy Lake Washington. This 300-acre expanse (120 acres of which is old-growth forest) features walking trails, picnic areas, a playground, tennis courts, seasonal beaches, and a fishing pier.

Mercer Island

Situated between Bellevue and Seattle, Mercer Island is the only island in Lake Washington. Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of spots to access the lake dotted across the island, from Clarke Beach Park in the south to spacious Luther Burbank Park in the north.

Kirkland

On the eastern banks of Lake Washington, Kirkland and its surrounding towns offer easy access to the lake to residents and visitors alike, with numerous waterfront parks available for public use. This area also offers some of the best fishing opportunities on the lake, with public piers at Juanita Beach Park, Waverly Beach Park, Houghton beach Park, Marsh Park, David E Brink Park, and Settlers Landing. Expect to find RV parks and private campgrounds in the area.

Saint Edward State Park

Spread out over 326 acres on the northeastern shores of Lake Washington, this state park offers picnic areas, playgrounds, and plenty of hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails. With around 3,000 feet of shoreline, the park is a great spot for accessing the lake—fishing and kayaking are particularly popular activities here.
