Located amidst the stunning landscape of the San Juans, this idyllic retreat offers nearby beaches, parks, lakes, coastal trails, shops, restaurants, festivals and farmers' markets.  Explore the 2,800 acres of protected forest land on Fidalgo Island. Kayak, bike, hike, take a whale watching tour, or simply soak in the natural beauty that surrounds you. 
As evening falls, gather around the fire pit, and grill your favorite steaks on the BBQ while the sunset paints the sky with vibrant hues.  Inside, the Silver Moon offers pristine and inviting interiors, thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.  Sink into plush bedding and bask in the warm glow of the interior lighting as you recount the day's adventures.

With plenty of sleeping options, the yurt would be a great place to come in a group. There is one queen, a full, a twin with a pullout bed, and the couch.

Forest Farmstead

Our old growth temperate rain forest homestead begins the wild and uncut wilderness that extends 40 miles to the Canadian boarder and beyond just as far. Before us it was part of Cascadian Farm (the organic food brand which still operates a lovely ice cream, esspresso, and berry stand adjacent to us), and before that it was one of the first farms this deep into the Cascade Range supplying food for the crews building the dams.     We offer both a yurt and tree house. You will be on our small farm/homestead that is backed up to the Mount Baker National Forest with undisturbed forest all north all the way to the Canadian border to the north, Baker lake to the north west, and to the North Cascades National park to the North east. The Skagit River flows to the south of us.
If you like freezing cold glacier water, we'll provide you with a map where you can walk down to the river to cool off at a safe swimming hole.Guests love staying here "Such a glorious and relaxed stay. The yurt really was a palace, it was so spacious and had many thoughtful amenities. We hiked on the mountain, forded a river and played with Hiland cows, all within walking distance of the yurt. I was worried that it would be cold but we were toasty and were even able to cook full course meals. Terry and Erin were the perfect hosts, responsive and yet non-instrusive. Thank you so much for letting us have this experience!"

A few of the sheep were timid, but most will come right up to you as long as you have food in hand!

We had some rain throughout the evening, but didn't even mind because of how cozy we were inside!

The beds are all super comfortable and come ready with fresh sheets and bedding.

The yurt comes stocked with a library of interesting books! Anything from cookbooks to Thoreau to botany.

Highwater Farm

At Highwater Farm Jeff and Danielle, and their five kids, work hard to be good stewards of the land. We believe the health of the people is directly related to the health of the land that produces their food. Our land is certified organic. We grow soil improving crops, such as clover and grasses, and let fields rest in rotation with vegetables. These techniques increase fertility naturally and keep the earth in good tilth.

Pitch your tent under a nice shade tree in the middle of an organic vegetable farm in the heart of the  Skagit river valley. Have a look at our sheep, cows, geese and resident eagles. Just 2 miles to Clear lake public beach and minutes to Mount Vernon , Sedro Woolley, or Burlington.  About halfway between Seattle and the Canadian border and 30 min to Anacortes ferry terminal.

Such a magical spot to enjoy the cool morning air.

We returned to the farm to find Jeff and Danielle weeding.

To keep with Anja's summer mission daily dip, we headed to the Skagit River accessible in the nearby town of Mount Vernon.

The rolling hills glowed in the distance.

It felt special to dine in-between working fields.

Still used on the fields, there were a couple of beautiful old tractors.

With a few options for camp spots, we chose a cozy, secluded spot in a bed of tall grass surrounded by beautiful deciduous trees.

There are several spots along the creek deep enough for a refreshing dip.

Finney Farm

This land was planted in blueberries and ginseng around a hundred years ago, and then became a girl scout camp for many years. In 1989 a group of friends interested in environmental conservation purchased the 65 acre parcel, and an additional 40 acres was purchased in the mid nineties.  We typically have 6-10 year round residents, with a few interns during the growing season. Jennie and Robert have resided on the land for nearly twenty years and with the help of many others, have created some amazing gardens, infrastructure, and educational/outreach programs.  One of our biggest endeavors is our Seed Distro program-we grow, package, and distribute heirloom organic seeds to schools, food banks, and community gardens at no charge. In 2016, we gave away over 8000 packages.  The income from campers helps fund our outreach program--camping here helps families and schools get free seed!

Happy Little Farm

Twelve years ago, Shelley and Casey moved back to the beautiful Skagit Valley farm Shelley grew up on.   Her family has farmed in the valley for five generations.  Casey had studied permaculture in the San Juan Islands and they immediately began planting edible and useful plants throughout the property.  They started a small Community Supported Agriculture program growing vegetables and fruit for several families.  The property has evolved over time to include several living willow structures and a wonderful collection of unusual fruits creating what they hope is the feeling of a Wonderland.

New Van Camping Site in 2023:  We have a new gravel pad van site next to an 18 acre farm field with a wonderful sunset view.   We do not allow fires at the site.  But you would be welcome to have a campfire in our firepit a short walk from your van site.  Please note, we are not currently offering firewood.  But it is available at the Shell station less than 5 minutes from our farm.

Tent Site:  Pitch your tent in a private corner of our little organic farm in the beautiful Skagit Valley.  You will be surrounded by gorgeous edible landscaping and a stunning view of Mount Baker.  Take a stroll through our gardens, graze on some fruit in season.  A 10 minute walk or quick bike ride to the Skagit River offering great swimming in the warmer months.

Our farm is surrounded by many flat scenic farm roads very popular for cyclists and photographers.  There are two restaurants and several antique shops less than a mile away in the cute little town of Conway.  The Conway Muse is a funky music venue and restaurant hosting great live music on weekends throughout the year.

Feel free to pick organic fruits, vegetables and nuts to enjoy at your campsite or take home by donation.
