We are located smack in the middle of desert in Chaparral, NM. We have two short term rentals on the property. The Desert Dome and Harvey the Skoolie. Both are unique stays. We love to show people the beauty the desert has to offer. We also live on site and are around to answer any questions or help you out.
We want all of our guests to be able to enjoy their stay and have as much privacy as possible. Both stays have a fire pit and their own hang out area.
There are farm animals on the property! Your fur babies are welcome, we only ask you keep them leashed at all time.

Located just 2 miles off I-10, 8 miles to the West of Sierra Blanca, and 80 miles South/South-East of El Paso. This property is truly a part of the "OLD WEST". Sierra Blanca was named after Sierra Blanca Mountain, just North-West of town. The town came into existence when competing railroads for a second (Southern) transcontinental railroad line came within 10 miles of one another in 1881. Jay Gould, famous railroad magnate and robber baron, drove a silver spike commemorating the event on Dec. 15th 1881. The town sprang up around that spot, although the population didn't reach 350 people until 1914. It is best described as grazing land that is flat to slightly sloping terrain covered with desert sagebrush and grasses.

Primitive campsites offer nice views, solitude, and a small flat space to set up camp next to your vehicle. No shade, toilets (bring your own), or other amenities are provided at this time but are in the works. Sierra Blanca has mild winters and very hot summers but the desert can get cold at night. The weather is generally sunny but come prepared for changing conditions.
This is not a commercial campground. Site is great for large groups. Larger RVs have trouble turning or parking so please no rvs over 26 ft. Bring your own toilet.
Wildlife include rabbits and hares, javelina, woodcock, teal, sandhill crane, quail, pronghorn, mule deer, duck, dove, rattlesnake, rails, gallinules, and moorehens, toads and a variety of lizards.

Such a cool place. The description doesn’t do it justice. Well stocked with everything you need. The owners live nearby in case you have any problems. Very fast to respond & happy to help. Beds were comfy. I didn’t bring my dog but wish I had. It’s set with a doggy door & a small fenced area for them.

The kids and I enjoyed the camper and thought it was the neatest thing to stay in. I give it 5 stars because unlike other campers/RV places this one has a playground that even my 9 year old could play on. Also, the hospitality was all there with plenty of water bottles stocked in the fridge, coffee and extra batteries for the remotes. The coloring pages for the kiddos was the sweetest touch. Had a nice peaceful night of star gazing on Sherry’s land. The property is easy to find and just far enough away from Hwy 62 that traffic noise isn’t a problem. It’s just a short drive to either Guadalupe Mountains National Park or Hueco Tanks State Historic Site. Plenty to see and do in the area. Will definitely be back.

I booked this Hipcamp last minute after I couldn’t find one site I had booked. I am SO GLAD because this one was SO GREAT! The host responded promptly to my concerns. I had a hard time finding the site at first but eventually noticed that the pictures gave better landmarks. The site had solar lights to help navigate big divots in the ground (oh yeah, drive SLOW). The sky was unbelievable and the stars in the middle of the night were gorgeous. 15/10

There were no utilities as expected. The site was level and easy to access. Just look for the wood sign with the address number. It blends in. We passed it and had to back up. There's no place to turn around.

Gorgeous desert dome! Very friendly helpful hosts. The dome was so cozy and welcoming, we loved staying there. Quiet, beautiful decorations, lots of games, fully stocked kitchen for cooking, washer and dryer, comfortable beds! We enjoyed the goats and donkey too. Strongly recommend.

Great property, great owners. Sally is a very nice young lady. It's very quiet. The composting toilet is a great feature that they have on the property. It was dark enough at night to see more stars than you would in the city. 5 stars for sure.
