The cabin and park is just amazing it feels so cozy and the view of the lake is incredible. Can’t wait to go back! If the wind is too high in the lake for paddling there is a cove next to the cabin area that is great for paddling and blocked from the wind.

7 nights at Trickle Creek Ranch

Gary’s place was just right for our overnight stays. Super easy 20-minute drive to visit our kids and grandkids in Fort Worth. Gary was a great host, really enjoyed chatting with him and hearing a bit about the old dairy farm. Our two grandsons (3 and 5) stayed with us for a couple of nights and loved seeing the longhorns and exploring the property. We’ll definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

We had a great time on an overnight camping trip to this site. Ms April took our group of 4 adults and 4 children on an awesome horseback ride as well. The site had lots of ants due in part to the heavy rains we had prior to our stay.

I have a Ford Transit camper van, so I just needed a place to crash on the weekend away from the city. I really like that even though it feels I am away from the city there are stores and restaurants 10 minutes drive from the farm. I also appreciated they had a nice warm shower and a bathroom right by the area I parked. The fire pit is shareable, but it seems like no one cared for it, so I had it all for me 😅

We had a fantastic stay at the Treehouse. Steve is a great host. Very good location given it's not too far from the city....it's a cozy & private site. Couple of tips for fellow travelers: 1) wear your mud shoes when there is rain just before your stay 2) expect & be prepared to use a make shift toilet (few yards away on the trail)...better to pack a flash light.

Weekend Trip to Treehouse on the Creek

Steve was a wonderful gracious host. The treehouse was splendid. The trails are a nice short walk with plenty of critters. At night it looks beautiful seeing the fireflies fill the horizon. I only stayed a night but it was a lovely experience. Steve was very helpful and kind.

Steve was great! It rained the day before we came and he took the time to let us know it probably wouldn’t be so comfortable with all the mud and accommodated us in the town near by until it dried overnight! He’s super friendly and we enjoyed our stay! The property is amazing is great for a get away!

Nice place. April was very accommodating. There was too much wind to say in the Teepee. We camped in tents. There was too much wind to use the water, we flew kites. We had a great time, but we were very flexible. Keep an open mind and you'll have fun, too!

2 nights at Trickle Creek Ranch

This small RV campground had everything I could possibly want. There was a huge open field to play in and throw the ball for Lucie. The sunset was gorgeous. The host, Gary was kind and informative. The neighbors were friendly. There were even cows to feed and horses to watch. The eclectic architecture and attractive decor kept me entertained for two days.

4 nights at this is Paradise on Lake Texoma

My partner and I had a lovely spring break getaway here on Lake Texoma. We loved watching the sunset over the lake and walking along the coast in the mornings. It rained quite a bit our first two days in town, so we retreated into the nearby town of Denison where we explored bookstores, antique malls, and had the BEST pizza at Say When Brewing. We were grateful for the heater unit in our Kasita and later the AC when it started to warm up again. We had a wonderful time reading, playing board games, watching movies on the projector we brought, and enjoying each others company. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

My 2 boys (8 and 10) had a blast. One of their favorite hip camps yet. We fished both ponds, rode horses and walked the trails. April was a gracious host and very patient and informative while teaching the boys some basics of horseback riding. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you for hosting us, April!

Weekend Trip to Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

We brought our small RV and Tent and were in Tent Camping site 1 which had a picnic table, water and the restrooms were nearby. We went to the nearby Aubrey Oaks Alpaca Farm in the morning, (be sure to make reservations in advance), then went hiking on the Randy Bell Scenic Trail at Ray Roberts Isle du Bois State Park and then returned to camp for archery and enjoyed smores and campfire stories at the large campfire area. The campsite didn't have much in the way of shade, so consider bringing your own canopy or tarp. If you plan to go horseback riding or archery, be sure to coordinate with the host in advance and bring carrots to feed the horses. Great camping experience with the grandkids!

Paradise on Lake Texoma (formerly Paradise Cove) is a beautiful, secluded commercial campground located in the "Big Mineral Arm'' of Lake Texoma. Built in the 80's by the Corps of Engineers, Paradise has been a mainstay of the lake for many years. Recently, the current management team are working to grow Paradise into something special. With a huge focus on community and culture, Paradise has tons of space for people to come together and enjoy the company and also areas to wander off and find a quiet lakeside spot to relax. You'll also be able to catch one of the best breathtaking sunsets on the lake! The wildlife we have on the property is amazing! I have deer that sleep in my front yard, opossums, 600 bird species, and my favorite… the armadillos! We offer Kayaking on the property for a fee. We have a beautiful Hammock Garden free for guests to kick back and relax. Texoma Water Taxi is a text away to give guests a ride anywhere on the lake including restaurants. Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding. The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods. In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family. We’re always a text away! You’ll see us out and about on our golf carts. If you ever need anything just holler (: Check-in time is at 3 pm. Our staff works really hard to make sure everything is perfect for your stay and we can’t guarantee it will be if you arrive before then. Parking, we work really hard to keep our property beautiful. Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.
