We enjoyed our getaway. Barry came out and greeted us, very nice guy and not pushy. There is a common area for anyone/everyone to hang out in. He has a crows nest on the top of his house, which he allows people to go up, beautiful view. Definitely go up there. Lots of cardinals. There might have been other birds also but those are the only ones I saw. Lots of bluebonnets a few other wild flowers. His landscape looks nice. It rained part of the time and the few parts that were dirt did Not get muddy. The lake was very close and was nice to look out at. We were very happy about that because it meant we could still go wonder around. I brought my dog, she enjoyed smelling everything. There were 2 other dogs that were possibly free roam from a neighbor, they were very nice. The male dog loved pets and tried to politely try and get treats. The RV is tiny. Lots of extra comforters and towels. It did fit us just fine, I did need a min to get used to it. 😆 Everything was in working order. Barry was very accommodating and brought us over some firewood.

Everything was amazing and he was super helpful, would definitely recommend staying here. Beautiful property with beautiful lodges and lake access not too far from where we stayed. Very thankful and will be coming back!

Hipcamp had a unique feel of being in the 70s again. We stayed the weekend and loved seeing the bluebonnets in full bloom. Very welcoming and relaxing. Glamping at its best.

2 nights at Liberty Hill Hideaway Lake Retreat

We loved staying at Barry’s! We spent two nights at the Barry’s essentials campsite that included a nice tent, air mattress, picnic table, fire pit, water and electricity. We had access to a shared indoor restroom and outdoor shower. The grounds are beautiful, and there was all of the firewood we could ever want! We spent our last night at the Doris “Glamper” and it was awesome! It was cute, had a private bathroom with sink, shower and toilet, a homey kitchen with cooking essentials, fridge, stove and microwave, and a nice sized living room. The air conditioners also worked great - and we didn’t need it, but there was also an electric fireplace that would be great on a cold night. The outside spaces all over the property are so welcoming and inviting, we loved the fun chairs and hammocks around the property, the beautiful plants and trees and artistic touches all over. The game room and crow’s nest were fun bonuses! Barry is so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed! He sang us a few songs by the fire on our last night and we enjoyed talking and sharing stories. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing time, whether in the primitive camping areas, glampers to the private rooms - there’s something for everyone!

An Unforgettable Stay at the Campsite!! Our stay at the campsite was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the serene beauty of nature, crisp fresh air, and the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. The campsite was well-maintained, with clean facilities and spacious pitches that provided a great balance of privacy and community. The host Barry was so welcoming and we really had a good time near the main campfire with Barry playing the guitar….❤️❤️❤️❤️ The highlight of our stay was the breathtaking scenery—towering trees, a peaceful lake nearby, and stunning sunsets that painted the sky in vibrant colors. Evenings by the campfires are magical. ⛺️ 🔥 Overall, it was an incredible experience, and we left feeling refreshed and connected to nature. We can’t wait to return for another adventure!

we loved camping at this place, many places to set up your tent, and the owners are super friendly and ready to help you with anything you need.

Our family came to the ranch for a quick getaway over the kids’ spring break and had the best time. The accommodations were terrific - super clean, all that we needed was provided, even some extra board games for the kids to play. The town of Hico was close and super charming. Kara, our host and her husband even met us one evening so that the kids could feed the animals and she was extremely helpful and responsive throughout our entire stay. Highly recommend!

It was the perfect get-a-way! We drove from Dallas Tx so the drive was only 1 hour 30 mins. We camped for two nights to simply get an out doors experience for the weekend. We loved exploring the property and common areas. The place is super eclectic and will be on my list to go again.

Beautiful place & Barry is an excellent host. Can be utilized as a romantic or family getaway.

7Acre Ridgeline Camp - Campsite #1 on Renegade Ridge is for anyone looking to catch an exceptional view from any angle. Set on a bluff, cresting the side of a cliff, you'll feel safe and secure as you listen to the sounds of wildlife in the creek below. In total the property sits on 7.3 acres nestled in the heart of a small lakeside community. This campsite is the first in our campground, so guests will have private access to the entire ridgeline & hiking trails cut through the 7.3 acers into the creek bed below. There is plenty of space for additional tents if guests would like to bring additional campers. Just let us know and I will be happy to discuss all the options. SAFTEY NOTES: The terrain is rocky and can be quite steep in places with some drop offs. Not recommended for small children or pets that are not well trained. We also share the land with lots of wildlife! Please be aware at all times and keep an eye out for snakes & spiders! You may also hear wild boars in the creek bed at night. SITE AMENITES `This site includes a 10x14, Kodiak' canvas tent that will be completely set up with the essentials including Water & Electric, bed & linens & outdoor chairs. INSIDE ` Cozy up on a queen size mattress complete with all the necessary bedding (pillows, sheets &comforter). We like to keep it super cozy but simple inside to make sure there is plenty of space for guest's personal things. BATHROOMS ` There is no access to a bathroom but a screened shelter with a camping toilet & compost bags will be provided. Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them and leave no trace. OUTSIDE ` A water spigot & electrical outlet are included at the campsite. A fire pit & firewood will also be provided (with the exception of any burn bans in effect) ACTIVITIES - Neighborhood Boat Ramp & access to Lake Whitney/Brazos River. Stargazing, birdwatching, & hiking the trails are a few things many of our guests enjoy the most. We also have access to a public boat ramp in the neighborhood. Guests will also have access to over 9000 aces of public hunting lands managed by the Army Corp. of Engineers. Meridian State Park & Lake Whitney State Park are each about a 30min drive. BILLY & KATE are you CAMP hosts: we do live on property, in the main house on the opposite side of the campsite but unless needed, we like to stay out of the way to respect our guest's privacy. Waste Not Farm is a 40 acre organic farm located in Troy, Tx. No chemicals are ever used, which provides beautiful wild flowers. We also have incredible sunsets, unobstructed views, various wildlife (mostly deer and many birds).
