My Tiny Creekside Retreat is located in the hills above Longview, with easy access to Historic Downtown Longview, less than a half hour from the I-5 Freeway, and within 1.5 hours of Long Beach, Mt. St. Helens, and Portland Oregon. The Retreat includes accommodations for overnighters and is available to host your small event. In addition to their private accommodations our guests enjoy our large covered fire pit and picnic area, creek side beach, yoga decks, and an EV charger. A perfect escape from the hustle of life!

When you visit our little "piece" on Earth we hope you feel the "peace" we do.  After spending many years living in the city, we found a place where we feel the calm and solitude we've been wanting and needing for a long time. Now, we want to share it with you.  A 10-acre "piece" of "peace" on Earth.  Come join us for a day or two.

Elk Moon

Elk Moon is a single yurt perched in a open clearing above the forest. Overlooking Mt Hood, Mt St Helens, Mt Adams and on the clearest days-Mt Jefferson. It’s a lovely open space where we’ve been joined by deer, elk, bald eagles, osprey and more. There’s an intimate relationship with the clouds here-sometimes wrapped in them, sometimes sitting on top of them-but everyday is dramatic and stunningly beautiful.Learn more about this land:Relax and rejuvenate your senses in a comfy, cozy and spacious 20 foot off-grid yurt. Wake up to the sunrise out your window and the site of Mount Hood and three other mountains on a clear day. Fall asleep to the site of the rising moon and the stars, enjoy the sounds of wildlife mixed with interesting sounds from the farm. Even the clouds feel dynamic and special here.This space has everything you need to enjoy time away from the city. Elk Moon has a secluded feel in a meadow at the top of a mountain surrounded by forest, but w/ neighbors not terribly far away. Enjoy coffee and meals inside on a basic two-burner camp stove or drive a short distance to town. A charming and clean composting toilet is located a few yards from the yurt. It is always cleaned in between campers. With hiking right outside your doorsteps and fantastic mountain views, Elk Moon is ideal for nature lovers. 

The skies here are always different, but always vast and usually pretty epic.

Garden & Galaxy PDX Urban Retreat

Our Garden & Galaxy Retreat in Portland, OR is a stunner. It is built with salvaged materials from nearby painted lady Victorian home that are the pillars at the entrance and the siding is from a nearby barn. The sliding door as you enter is a salvaged US Federal Building Door that glides on barn rails and it has the original mail slot in the door. The retreat is an indoor/outdoor experience as there are two walls that feature beveled shutters that open and the roof is a see through experience to watch the birds, wildlife and stars. The queen bed is  super comfortable and there is a small desk filled with maps of nearby places to play. There is a small cabinet outfitted with slippers to slip on and take the path to the garden pergola - the swinging twin bed or the main house. Follow us at @gardengalaxypdx

My home for the last 34 years; I have put care, love and abundance in creating a magical garden with surprises throughout. My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September.

There is an outdoor fridge in the garden for your use and we provide beverages and creamer for coffee or tea provided in the room for your enjoyment. 

There is a fan provided in summer and a heater provided in the Spring and Fall for the room evenings can be a bit crisp so you can customize your temperature to your comfort level. 

Also, Hipcamp requires I put in a minimum acreage in a field and the minimum they allow is 1 - the house is not on an acre of land.

Towels and local made soap provided for guests.

James & Patricia's Oasis

20 years ago James and Patricia purchased land that had been logged multiple time, and built a house to raise a family, and watch the forest regrow. James loves trains and this area had a logging operation in the early 1900's that included railroads, donkey engines and logging camps in the area. In the 1980's several 10 to 20 acre parcels were sold to people who wanted a piece of the country life. James and Patricia now live on one of those parcels and look forward to the next generation enjoying the country life. When James and Patricia bought the property, the previous owner had cut down most of the trees and would mow most of the land. The land was allowed to recover with alder being the first forest which replenished the soil. In a few areas scotch broom (invasive plants) took hold. Not wanting to use toxic chemicals that could leach into the water supply getting rid of scotch broom was a challenge but now there is large meadow with baby Christmas trees growing (marked by the red flags). In many other places douglas fir has planted itself along with new cedar trees. There is beautiful undergrowth that includes thimble berry, Oregon grape, candy stripe and many other wild plants. There is red huckleberry growing in various places and makes a great snack when they are ripe.Speaking of wild, there is a lot wildlife here. Several species of birds live here including family of humming birds. Sometimes you will see grouse, geese, ducks, swallows, red tail hawks, even a glimpse of a bald eagle. There are wild bunnies, gardener snakes, frogs, salamanders. If you go along the trails you might see signs of deer or coyote. There are currently 2 horses and a llama that are living in the back half of the property. Sometimes Larry the llama comes out for a visit. He is shy on not really domesticated but like all llama's curious. There are chickens that live near the garage and garden (that's why dogs must be on leash). Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent in a shady meadow next to a small pond. Enjoy the serenity and the coastal mountain breezes flowing through the tree tops. There are hiking trails through forest land. Wake in the morning to birds singing, and fall asleep to the frogs in the pond. Clear nights and you can see a lot of stars. During the right season there are blackberries, red huckleberries and thimble berries. The Banks-Vernonia Linear trail State park and LL Stub Stewart are both near this beautiful little space.  

They also made it very easy to find where we were supposed to be.

I was most impressed by the stars visible on their property. This was a long exposure, pointed north. The tripod was set right next to our tents.

Four Directions Retreat

Come relax and enjoy the amazing energy at Four Directions Retreat.  We offer beautiful and shaded campsites and a tiny cabin that will be sure to please.  We also have an amazing outdoor stage nestled at the bottom of a natural amphitheater that is perfect for a variety of entertaining needs.  When not playing corn hole, disc golf or other yard games, our friendly little goats are known for putting on a show of their own just to get loves and scratches from our guests. 

Our beautiful property features a healthy 45+ year old Douglas Fir forest and a spacious meadow which is stunning in the spring with wild grasses and beautiful flowers. During the summer, you can take a break from the heat and relax amongst the huge ferns, Fir, Alder and Cedar trees and enjoy a variety of delicious berries found all over the property. You may also want to stretch your legs and take a leisurely walk along some of the old logging roads or give yourself a push along a forested hiking trail.

Using mostly reclaimed materials, we built a stage great for entertainment (concerts, weddings, movie nights, etc... ), an outdoor event kitchen, and most importantly - the three composting outhouses strategically located to best accommodate our guest's basic needs.  We also have a gorgeous Bathhouse available for a nominal fee to recoup the costs of waste disposal.

The 4D Tiny Cabin includes a large space with a basic camp kitchen, fire pit, picnic table and space for a few tents (depending on size) for additional family or friends.  

We have 12 traditional camp sites that include picnic tables and fire pits that are spaced well apart to provide more privacy than you would ever get at a standard county, state or federal campground.  

Important to know:  1) A handful of the camp sites can accommodate up to 24 foot in length RV's and trailers pulled by a 4x4, camper vans, or trucks with campers. 2)  Please reach out to us if you have additional questions about which sites would be best and why we insist on having a 4x4 pulling a trailer.  3) Also, overloaded minivans also have difficulties making it up the hill, but we can help.

If that isn't enough, we are located close to many areas of interest.  If you like disc golf, Trojan Park is only 8 minutes away. You can also jump in the water at a several County Parks along the mighty Columbia River which are about 10 minutes away.  You can also take a dip in the picturesque Beaver Falls, a stunning 20-minute drive through the country followed by a short hike. If adventure "on the water" is more your thing, then you can always take a kayak around Scappoose Bay which is a 30-minute drive from 4D.  Lastly, historic Astoria, Oregon and the Pacific Ocean is only one hour away.
