Riverside/Riverwood

Spring is finally here but, it is still very wet all along the coast. We mow the grass when we can but, it might look a little shaggy until we get a break in the weather. Our campsites are easily accessible by vehicle and we have room for tents, small trailers and camper vans too. The sites are grassy and relatively level, situated under large spruce trees. We are still in tidewater here so both sites sit above the river (about a 15' river bank at high tide). The Riverside site has a fire pit and a deck for viewing the river. **Clarification for the situation that brought a negative review: There is a deck at this site that used to have wood steps that lead to an old dock. Both the dock and steps have washed away many years ago, we won't be replacing them. We do have the steps roped off so no one tries to go down them and it doesn't look great when you are standing there looking at it but, this shouldn't deter from our experience camping on this lovely river. The Riverwood site is away from the river bank about 100' and sits under beautiful, large spruce trees. It is a short walk from both sites to our ramp and dock to be on the river. There are signs on site to help you find your way. We have indoor bathroom facilities for our guests, Yay! It is about 150' walk from both campsites. It has a kitchenette with a barista bar, microwave, small fridge, a small living area, private toilet and shower.(bring your own towels, soap etc.) All areas are cleaned and sterilized after each guest. It is a shared space with other campers so if you use the space to eat breakfast, drink your coffee or get out of the rain we ask you put everything back where it was. We also offer our little Bunkie, the Glass House for an extra fee. PLEASE NOTE.....We didn't realize how popular our Bunkie would be so to avoid double booking and disappointing our guests, we will keep you posted on the availability. The Glass House IS currently AVAILABLE these dates: AVAILABLE: September 4th on into fall... The Bunkie sleeps two comfortably. It has a nice mattress (Please bring your own sleeping bags), a comfy bench, a coat rack, remote control lights and a nice electric heater. There are curtains all around for privacy. You'll use the bathroom facilities in the apartment. Bring your Kayak or SUP to explore the slow moving river (or rent ours!). Enjoy a wide variety of wildlife; migrating and resident birds, Beavers early in the morning and evenings. Our resident River Otters have been very active the past couple of years. You'll see them in the morning and evenings swimming, playing and munching on Crawdads. There are Deer although we seldom see them on our property but, they are across the river. There is a huge heard of Elk down river. Our property is about a 10 minute drive to the Ocean/Hwy 101, just south of Lincoln City. There is hiking close by and miles of coastline to explore. We are happy to help you have the best experience at the coast...Just ask! A little about the process and the property: Once you reserve a camp site you'll receive a welcome message with the physical address to the property and the instructions on how to navigate the property once you are here. There is a HIPCAMP sign with an arrow to direct you to the 2 camp sites. There are also "END HIPCAMP" signs on our property lines to preserve our neighbors privacy. Check-in is 2pm or later, check out is 12noon or before. To be respectful of other campers that are excited to get outdoors (and to allow us to clean the bathroom and make sure the property is ready for the next campers) we need to adhere to these times. FIRE RESTRICTIONS - There are no fire restrictions currently but, we want you to extinguish fires when you leave the property. We have bottles of water at each site to do so. Also, we provide fire extinguishers if there is an emergency grass fire. A little about the property and us: We purchased this property 10 years ago. Our Hipcamp sites sit on bare property adjacent to our house. The property and house had sat vacant for 3 years prior to us finding it. It was a mess, all overgrown with blackberries, moss, etc. We spent the first 3 years cleaning up the house, apartment downstairs and clearing the property so it was usable. We had only dreamed of having a place on a river...somewhere...when we came across this property. We both love the outdoors and have always loved camping with our kids. Rick is an avid fisherman/hunter while Debbie enjoys kayaking, gardening, reading and watching the river go by. Thanks for checking us out! Debbie and Rick and our two Cattledogs, Luna and Piper

Slow Boat Farm - Island Camping

Slow Boat Farm started as a 10-cow dairy in the 1930s. The modified farmhouse still stands and the base of the silo is now a fire ring. The Lower Columbia Kayak Roundup (LoCo) was hosted from 2007 through 2011. There have only been four owners of the property. Learn more about this land: Wide open spaces, kayak launch, and small-scale farming form a unique culture at Slow Boat Farm. Camp on Puget Island, in a peaceful, pastoral setting with views of the hills and cliffs on both sides of the river. Fire ring is available year round regardless of fire bans. A large grassy field offers ample space, and a private kayak launch is a short walk through a cottonwood forest. You will enjoy a private camp spot with shade or open space, where we can accommodate multiple vehicles. Spirit’s Grove is on 40 acres mostly natural forest. A few small streams run through the property, along the Creek and its 2 ponds, beaver dams, and busy wildlife highways. A Firepit, Trails, Yurt, Tents, Bunkhouse, Camping Areas and Lodge. Various Classes and Treatments are available with prior arrangements. And also just respite. The resident horses, goats, cows and cats are all rescues that have found their way into our hearts and home, and share the spaces. Within 15 minutes are some taverns and a restaurant, where you can enjoy good food and drinks. The Lodge is available for Events and Parties for separate fees. Contact us for your event needs. The over 2000sqft Retreat Center has a private Kitchen, Bar, Dining Hall, large outdoor Patio area and Gazebo. From April to October, every third Saturday is a public Firepit. Everyone is invited to attend. Bring musical instruments, prepare to talk and share stories, bring snacks, and gaze at the sky. Guided walks are available. Fires are only allowed in the Firepit and designated cooking areas.
