Oak Ring Ridge

We originally purchased the 20 acres of untouched land and built our cabin, the "Snug Shack," as a getaway from the city. Fast forward a few years, and 40 acres next door with an abandoned house on the canyon ridge went up for sale. We decided to purchase it and start a homestead there. That 40 acres where we now live was badly abused, and we have been in the process of cleaning up and restoring it. Fortunate for you, the land surrounding the Snug Shack was never abused and is still pristine and beautiful. By camping at the Snug Shack, you help support us in our mission to restore this beautiful place.We named our homestead after the rings of small oak trees that grow here on the ridge.: "Oak Ring Ridge." The footprint of the Snug Shack is 120 square feet. There is enough room downstairs on the floor for an air mattress or camping mat, or a roll-away folding bed is available for an additional rental fee. 

Enjoy beautiful views from your bed in the sleeping loft. The mattress is a full size, bring your own bedding or sleeping bags.

Heartline Ranch and Tipi Village

Stay in one of  our Native American Tipis, nestled into the forest next to the Winema National Forest. We have miles of hiking trails, and lots of wildlife in the way of birds, bunnys, chipmonks and the occasional deer and elk, and are across from the Pelican Butte mountains. Experience what few get to know- what it's like to be in a real Native American Tipi. Come experience the outdoors as Natives have lived. This isn't any airconditioned motel room- this is the real deal. Owners are Native American. An experience of a lifetime. Questions will be answered, info. available. Their ranch, Heartline Ranch & Tipi Village is on Crater Lake Highway (Hwy 62) just 26 miles down from Crater Lake. They have designated 15 acres for a primitive Campgrounds and Tipi village sites. September of 2020 we were sadly effected by the Wildfire- TwoFourTwo which took 5 of our 6 tipis. We have been able to clean up, regrow and make ready for camping guests. We once again have 6 tipis, all beautiful, and in addition, 6 new camping sites for people with their own tents. Sorry, NO rv's (vans are allowed.) Its wonderful to see all the beautiful regrowth, and to see that most of our trees have regenerated. It is now once again a beautiful place to be.

      It is their love for this land and a desire to share the beauty and Native experience with others to led them to open up these campgrounds. There is 15 acres in the immediate campgrounds &  6 tipi sites and 6 camping sites for folks with their own tents, so LOTS of privacy. Our ranch has 250 acres of land, great hiking trails that you will have access to for hiking, next to the Winema National Forest, and connected to the Pacific Crest Trail.

 You will have space to enjoy this beauty. The owner's horses are rescue horses and are their own private property. Please do NOT feed them or go up to them without the owners being there. Horses have delicate stomachs. Our gentle giants are mellow but very big so please stay OUT of their pasture. You may help us during their feeding time, if you ask owners.

Crater Lake Resort

Our property has been in business in one way or another for over 70 years. The stick built cabins are pre 1950's and no one really knows for sure how old they truly are. We are located on Fort Creek named after the creek that ran through Fort Klamath. Fort Creek is a beautiful 30' wide meandering creek that runs the length of the property north to south. We offer free use of our Old Town Canoes to paddle along it's extent and on up creek to a beaver damn. There is a fun hiking trail that runs over two bridges that span the creek, one covered and one floating. We also offer free catch and release fishing, there are Rainbow and Brown Trout in our waters.

Fort Klamath is the birthplace and home of the US Army 1st Cavalry and our property is located on the the Forts Southeastern grounds. We are 9 miles from the southern border of the National Park and 23 miles from the southern Rim and Rim Village.

Oregon for Everyone

Come and set up camp below your own private Butte, steps away from the Fremont Winema National Forest. 

 Small but mighty butte offers panoramic views of the Sprague River Valley.  7 acres of gently sloping terrain with grassland, rabbitbrush, manzanita, gooseberries, juniper, and bitter crab apples, bordering Fremont Winema National Forest. Site is well suited to meditation, hiking, leave no trace camping, orienteering, geocaching, stargazing. Good base camp during hunting season. Highly recommended for folks thinking of moving to the area.  Off grid paradise! 

The feel of this land varies based on your view. On the lower east side by the road you will be able to see the neighbor and his off grid solar setup. On the west side you see national forest property, and your view of neighbor and road will be blocked by the Butte. Hike up to the lower Butte or climb to the upper Butte to see lovely views of the Sprague River Valley, which includes farms, forest and neighboring parcels.

Southern boundary marker - you’re here! A good site for valley view camping is at the base of the butte near the two tall (dead) trees in the distance. 

Parking area next to the Northern boundary post.  Please park at an angle & back out the same way to minimize soil disturbance. The trees at left = tree camp. Small vehicles may park at tree camp if you are careful not to run over the bushes. Thank you!

Northern boundary marker - welcome to camp!  The most private areas to camp are a short hike to the other (West) side of the Butte, facing the Fremont Winema National Forest.
