Our outdoor experience offers complete, private access to guests only, with fishing, tubing, kayaking, and hiking activities on the property. A rugged 9-hole disc golf trail encourages exploration of your private mountain. Most of the photos were taken in January, but in spring, summer, and fall this lovely shaded campsite feels secluded and serene, while still offering all the comforts of home.
The site includes creekside posts for hanging a hammock and a fireside hanging-chair post. It is located near the pool, bathhouse, laundry facilities, and a small playground.
The lot is located in a gated campground with many amenities, including two seasonal pools, a coin-operated laundromat, a game room, an exercise facility, and a seasonal restaurant.
You are also welcome to book this lot through the campground’s main office, but my Hipcamp listing is cheaper.
Other things to note
Pets are welcome. However, please be aware there is a $10 non-refundable pet fee, paid upon check-in through the campground office, to cover the cost of the pet waste stations throughout the park. This fee is charged by the campground and is not included in the rental price paid through Hipcamp. We have a clean toilet house. It is located between campsites 3 and 4.
Within a couple miles of our property there is mountain biking, hiking, lake access of swimming and boating. Bring your kayak to enjoy seeing Lake Nottely!
We live on the property, and it is a working homestead. We have chickens (roosters too). We ask that you keep your dogs *at your camp site at all times* (we have had camper's dogs run through the field at us and scare us to pieces and we'd rather not experience that again! lol)

Campsite #3 (as all the sites) was right on the creek, so we enjoyed the sound of rushing water during our stay. We had shade along the creek where the fire ring was situated, and open level mowed field where we pitched our tent. The owner also has some portable chicken coops in the large field, which we were pleased to see since we’re a fan of chickens and eggs, too! The chickens were neither noisy nor smelly, by the way.
It was nice to have a toilet next to the site which is shared with other campers, but we never had a wait to use it.

I enjoyed the sound of rushing water from the creek directly behind site 4. We were able to get firewood as an extra, and it was very nice having a warm fire as the night got chilly.
I was mostly using this trip as an opportunity to try out some new backpacking gear, but found this spot to be rather serene and accommodating.
The chickens are fun, too.

Weekend Trip to Waterside lot
The site was great with a nice view of the small pond. Very quiet, gated community with a lot of nice tiny homes for permanent residents. Also, the location is close enough to Blue Ridge to uber over if you didn’t tow a car. Will probably go again sometime.

We enjoyed our stay in the yurt on Matt’s land. We walked down to the river and up to a view at 3000+ ft-all on the property. Beautiful! ! The bathroom is clean. The yurt was comfortable. There was plenty of room for tents on the site. Matt was responsive, kind and helpful. Will definitely be back!

I went Fourth of July weekend & it was crazy busy yet they still managed to get me a camping spot last minute. When I pulled up at 9pm they were still able to check me in and tell me where to set up camp. At 10 o’clock everyone went quiet which was nice!

You really can’t beat the price! We loved listening to the peaceful, babbling creek. Firewood was provided, though it was a bit wet from the rain that day — luckily we brought some fire starters and still enjoyed cooking delicious meals over the campfire 🔥. The toilet was clean, which we appreciated.
My only suggestions: it would be great if the grass leading to the bathroom were mowed so you don’t have to walk through tall, wet grass, and there’s a large hole between campsite #4 and the restroom that we almost fell into — we marked it with a tall stick to help others see it. The creek is a little steep to access from site #4, but still manageable.
The only real downside was that the neighbors were extremely loud and playing music until about 1 a.m., which made it hard to sleep.
Overall, though, an excellent value and we’d definitely book again!

We searched for the perfect campsite so that we could try out our new roof top tent, but also to wind down and let the kids play in the creek. Trout Creek did not disappoint! The most friendly staff, now friends, anyone could ask for! Super clean, bath house with shower, easy to maneuver into the site, live music the night we went! There is a small playground that our kids played on for hours! I wish we had a chance to stay the whole season! We will be back as soon as we can, and stay as long as we can!

Beautiful land with river access. Lots of space for tents. If you want to set up near the river there's plenty of space but be prepared to carry your gear.down a flight of stairs.
Matt was nice and notified us of a possible storm.
Bring earplugs as the road noise is pretty loud.
The river and the river access were my favorite.
