Weekend Trip to Forest Treasure Island

We had a great camping experience in the woods! The property is beautiful, with its own farm, garden, and cozy patios equipped with BBQ grills—perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. Even though we were switched from the Cabbage Tent to a regular tent, our host Diana went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Her hospitality truly made the stay memorable. Highly recommend!

1 night at The River's Edge

The perfect quick getaway for us. Having a beautiful site on the water was key, and we even decided to stay another night after rolling in. Felt private (little paths you can walk along from the site,) and as adults with a dog, the river access was perfect (handy rope attached to the tree at our river access point.) Sure, there's road sounds, but didn't bother us for the location. The BBQ, firepit, river view table, water, and utensils/pans etc were a bonus. Would definitely visit again.

This was a wonderful campsite. The structures are rustic and cozy, accommodations plentiful and thoughtful, and the host is incredibly kind and communicative. I would recommend this site for experienced campers and novices alike. I will definitely be back!

Myself and my group of 10 other friends absolutely LOVED this spot!! We had campers of various experience levels and my biggest concern was making sure everyone was comfortable and that the group had what was needed. Thomas and his campsite absolutely delivered on that. The site was tidy and stocked upon arrival, Thomas was there to greet me and walk me through all the details and was kind enough to offer an extension on our second day since the site was free of bookings. It felt like the perfect crossover between glamping and rustic camping— offering everyone whatever experience they wanted to make of it. We loved the convenient access to the river (and spotted several bald eagles in our area- we believe they had a nest out there). The site was shaded and made the extra hot weekend very comfortable and the canopy over our dining area saved our butts when it decided to pour rain out of nowhere on the morning of our overnight stay. I have already recommended this site to a bunch of friends and plan to come back ASAP!! Thank you Thomas for creating such a well thought out and special place for your guests!

Tom's Rivers's Edge Sunset site was great. We picked this site in particular because of the large covered dinner pavilion that means you can have a good time regardless of the weather. The large dinner table, refrigerator, lights, and kitchen area enabled us to play games and hang out regardless of the weather. We lucked out and had great weather for the majority of our stay, but the covered area was still a great place to hang out in the evenings. There was ample space next to Tom's pre-set up tent for us to place another 9-man tent and have all of our campers staying in the same area. We didn't need to utilize the several other areas that Tom had prepared for additional tents. The fire pit area was large, and the river access was excellent. If we come back to the are, I was certainly look to book this same site from Tom.

Camp site was nice, Jan and her family were so welcoming! Our kids got along really well and they had so much fun! We went fishing on Norwalk River and that was fun too! Campsite had a nice sized tent and blow up mattresses for us to use! We also got t Fresh farm eggs from the chickens on property and enjoyed them for breakfast!

We had an excellent stay at Jan and Diana’s! The tents are in the forest yet close to their house which gave us both privacy and the opportunity to use their amazing backyard which our kids loved - playground, farm animals, sandbox… The tents were ready for us and spacious. Jan and Diana were there that weekend and very kind, helping out whenever we needed - they got us dish soap which we had forgotten, offered that we use veggies from their garden etc. We ordered the breakfast which turned out to be an excellent brunch.

This was such a gorgeous campsite with thoughtful and hand crafted details. Plenty of space and directly on the river. The bed in the canvas tent was comfortable and the kitchen area was well stocked. Despite it being rainy during our stay we made the most of it and had a wonderful time. We'd love to come back again, but will remember to pack the bug spray next time :)

Stayed here for one night with a buddy and our four girls, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The girls had an absolute blast—especially playing with the adorable puppies, roasting marshmallows around the campfire, and hanging out in the spacious tent. The site was comfortable, well set up, and perfect for a quick escape. We’re already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommend!

My son and I had a fantastic time. The campsite has an awesome view and access to the river. Thomas was a super attentive host and the site is decked out. The dining tent makes meal prep a breeze and has everything you need - brand new gas grill, pots, pans, cutlery etc. And a working refrigerator…only downside was it rendered my prized new Yeti cooler obsolete lol. You can park your car right at the site for easy car unpacking and repacking. The toilet tent was clean and convenient. Great kayaking rafting and hiking all close by. No cell service (which is honestly kind of great) but if you need the internet in a pinch super easy to pop over to the Outpost restaurant up the road and plug into their WiFi. I’m hoping to go back and bring a bigger crew to enjoy the site as we had tons of extra room at the massive dining table!

Thomas was so attentive and thoughtful - moving our group's site to one better situated for a potential downpour and making sure we had everything we needed. The frogs sang us to sleep, after the neighboring campsite's forest rave blissfully petered out. I would/will definitely be back - a great spot for groups / bigger families.

The Cabbage Tent glamping property offers a fantastic experience. A peaceful and unique getaway in the woods awaits. The host, Jan, provides a warm welcome.. Jan was incredibly helpful and provided amazing hospitality. The glamping tent is nestled in the woods. Comfortable bed frames and all the necessary amenities are provided for a cozy night's sleep. The property has a charming farm atmosphere. Roosters, chickens, and bunnies roam freely, adding to the experience. The play area has a swing and other fun activities for kids. Fire logs are available, allowing for a cozy campfire in the evenings. Jan offered fresh eggs to take away in the morning. The Cabbage Tent glamping experience exceeded expectations. The combination of nature, comfortable accommodations, and Jan's exceptional hospitality made for a memorable trip.

The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. We love to play music and get together with our friends and have been hosting people for some time. We thought that hipcamp could introduce people to our mission and make some extra money to get the farm off the ground. Ugly Apple Farms is a diverse place. We have opportunities for farm classes, pick your own veggies and more. We also have 1800 feet of access to the Neversink River. We recommend four wheel drive for some of our sites so please ask about them. We are an off grid farm with access to some solar for charging. We have tent sites and room for campers. Our camping is primitive but there is access to potable water and sanitation if needed. All extras are first come first serve if not reserved in advance. We love and welcome any questions!
