Seated on a secluded one-acre site, Deer Lake Retreat offers a peaceful, primitive camping experience in the heart of nature. This cozy, private spot is perfect for those looking to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. The camp features a covered camping structure with two twin mattresses, you must provide your own bedding. There’s plenty of space for an additional tent, allowing for a small group or family to enjoy the campsite. There is parking for up to three cars, the campsite is easy to access. The campsite is equipped with a fire pit and firewood provided. Tiki torches are provided but you must bring your own torch fuel. There’s also a table for food prep. This site has a porta potty but no shower or running water. Access to the lake for fishing, swimming and paddling is available but you’ll need to purchase a day pass through the City of Crystal Lakes website, which gives you access to all five lakes in the area. While swimming is allowed, we recommend you use the lakes as fishing and paddling only. Escape the hustle and bustle and experience the magic of private, lakeside camping. Weekend Trip to Wit’s End

My dogs and I had a great time staying at Wits end! We weren't there long, justba quick overnight. Jennifer was quick to reply and helpful. The only problem is, after leaving I started noticing tons of tiny ticks crawling on me and had to stop and spend about an hour trying to get rid of them all. I had read another review that mentioned them so I had even sprayed some natural repellent but they apparently are quite bad around there. Just be prepared. The peace and quiet, along with sunrise were fantastic!

Weekend Trip to Wit’s End

This place was perfect for me to relax and my dog to run around and smell everything! There was a great view of the sunset and we were serenaded by so many birds, frogs, and even an owl near our camp at night. I normally camp in backcountry areas with many rocks and roots so the grass felt like luxury to sleep on. Love how close this is to KC, perfect for a quick getaway!

Enjoyed our stay! Easy to find, huge meadow to choose campsite. There is a fire ring to use. Parts of the wooded areas were heavy with ticks, be careful! Small pond to try fishing. Quiet area.
